Clinique Original Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion Review and How to Use

The Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion was one of the very first skincare products I ever used. Ii didn't know what I didn't know, but this was kind of dreadful as it would just sit on top of my skin for a long time. This was a groundbreaking product when it came out in the 60's and paved the way for more cosmetics companies. Since it's original formula they have reformulated this product but did not make enough changes for me to recommend this or even use it myself.

I have dehydrated oily skin and this changed my skin! I don't get oily anymore with this lotion. Also, no more breakouts which is surprising because I thought the ingredients would clog my pores. A+!

I just watched the gel version. My mom has been using this forever and complains of whiteheads (which are only noticeable to her, lol). I really wish she would try another moisturizer. She does have dry skin, so I think that’s one of the reasons she likes this so much. I did give her a sample of FAB’s ultra repair cream and I think she enjoyed it. She’s been using this for such a long time, I think she’s just comfortable with it. Trying to get her to change it up a bit;) Thanks!

I just came across this video in 2022. I think the formula may have changed since then as well as the packaging of the little tube. I use the current formula twice a day. It does take a few minutes to soak into my skin. It’s a good moisturizer to use before using Differin Gel. I follow up with moisture surge. It’s all I’ll use at this point in my life and for the last forty years or so. The pump bottle has a glass jar and lasts about three months. One thing I will say about Clinique is that they stand by their products and will refund your money up to 24 months if you do not like it.

I like the way you think and the no BS theme. Goodness knows there is far too much BS on RU-vid. There really isnt anything detrimental about mineral oil and/or petrolatum and they are occlusive ingredients that do hold in moisture but, as you said, so basic that this is totally overpriced. I remember buying it in the 60's as part of Clinic's three Step routine and with my oily skin it was just too unpleasant to use. This product is as outdated as the Clinic Toners with the high drying alcohol content. Than goodness skin care progressed far beyond these products. Cheers!

Thank you so much for your super nice comments! Very true and the Clinique toners, I can't believe they haven't reformulated them by now. They must have a huge fan base for them. Very correct about mineral oil and petroleum, not a bad thing, especially for very dry skin, but just so basic for this price. Thanks again for your kind comments! 😁

I have combination skin and this moisturizer does okay for me. There are so many moisturizers and products on the market that it can be extremely confusing to find one that is cost effective and suitable for your skin. I’m open to trying other moisturizers since this one is heavy for me during the summer time.

It helps if you have combo skin to get a lighter gel version of the heavy moisturizer

Combination skin can be tricky, especially with the difference between summery and winter, makes it tricky to find one that works well all year long.

I started using the Clinique lotion just today by recommendation of my dermatologist after a short and disastrous treatment for a few pimples with La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (+), which ended up burning my skin TERRIBLY. I stopped using it about one month and a half, and then inmediately tried the Toleriane Ultra (also by La Roche Posay), but it moisturized so little and it's quite expensive for barely 40 ml here in my country (around USD 50). Afterwards, I also tried Bioderma Sensibio Forte with so-so results... I have combination skin, actually more on the dry side, and extremely sensitive because I have lupus. Right now after applying the lotion I'm feeling my face a bit greasy, but still keep hopes that it will help me to recover the softness it used to have before using the Effaclar. Now it feels almost like cardboard 😞 BTW, what's your opinion on the Eucerin Aquaporin Active? Do you think it could help? Thank you very much in advance!

Can u suggest a good moisturiser that contains lots of benefits? I'm using this. I quite like it but i wanna try something else.

My absolute favorite is the Drunk Elephant Protini PolyPeptide Cream, it's a great moisturizer with lots of beneficial ingredients with a nice Gel texture. Another one I like that is in a more affordable price range is the First Aid Beauty Oil Free Mattifying Gel, not sure why Mattifying is in the title because it isn't Mattifying at all. Another great moisturizer is the Paula's Choice Defense Nightly Reconditioning Moisturizer, it's full of Antioxidants and is similar in texture to the Clinique moisturizer you're using now. Two more (because I have so many faves it's hard for me to edit) are the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum, but it is lightly Hydrating so if you have dry skin you'll need to use this in addition to another moisturizer. The last one I'd recommend is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer. Have you tried any of these before? All of these are great options that are loaded with Antioxidants, free if drying denatured alcohol, and fragrance free as well.

@@NOBSBeauty i never use all of thing that u highly recommend. I'm on 19th days of accutane. Just yesterday i start using clinique moisturiser since my bobbi brown hydrating face cream & caudalie moisturizing sorbet is not working for me anymore. Lucky i watch your channel. If not i might keep using the clinique one. I agree with u. Better use something that can give your skin something u need. Tq darling for your suggestion

I think with some skin types it just didn't l doesn't seem to fully absorb and just kind of "sits" on skin. You'd probably have better luck with the jelly from Clinique
