Message to Clive: listen to traditional Mali music. Most of the slaves that were brought to the USA came from Mali. Their music sounds very much like it could be the basis for what became the blues. A modern Mali musician (who is undoubtedly influenced my modern blues of course) is Ali Farka Toure. Very interesting stuff
Thanks Phil. I'd actually been wondering whether to tee up any of more of these, given the poor response that they've had. Your comment has gone a long way to encouraging me to do so. I do enjoy doing it, so if I keep that fact at the forefront of my mind, that should be enough. Then, when I get lovely comments of encouragement like yours, I know it's been worth it! So I guess I will take my gear to the Ullapool Guitar Festival in October!
Ah so now I know a little bit more about you. Irish & Essex - you poor devil! However it seems to have worked wonders for you. Just don't talk! Cheap josh - I don't mean it. Very interesting interview.
Really enjoyed this interview! Clive seems like such a down-to-earth, nice guy. Would love it if you took a listen to my guitar instrumental album, Old Waves. You can find it on Spotify, etc. Thanks!
Thanks Luke. Clive's one of the most down-to-earth guys I've met. I'm listening to your music now on Spotify. It has grabbed my attention from the first few bars. Wonderful playing my friend!
