Goodbye, Richard Bucket. You don't have to worry about Hyacinth killing you for any anniversaries. R.I.P. Clive Swift. You brought a humor that complimented Patricia Routledge and gave us one of the most memorable shows to watch and laugh to.

I love that moment at 2:22 when he screams ‘Hyacinth stop that at once and get into the car!’ The look on her face is priceless. The man telling Richard he would have got a medal for courage like that in wartime just adds to the hilarity. Also the look of awe and admiration on Elizabeth’s face is priceless!

There's just one thing that I think we're all dying to know. What in the world possessed Richard to even ask Hyacinth to marry him?
@videorocketzmillar007milla5
She probably was nice, agreeable and pleasant. AFTER a few years, she grew into a nag as poor Richard would do things that would aggrevate her. She dismissed his actions when dating. But living with him and her own perfectionism took its toll. Hes such a sweet man hes stuck.
@jaymartin8273
@jaymartin8273 Год назад
You're assuming HE asked HER for all we know SHE SAID HE should marry her :=)
@banannakis6723
@banannakis6723 Год назад
I always assumed it was because Richard was a nice man who was simple man who liked a comfortable home and Hyacinth has shown that she's a good homemaker. Plus Richard and Hyacinth probably met at a dance or church and Hyacinth probably took hold of the relationship from the start, maybe even overread the seriousness of their relationship and Richard just went along with it because she's such a force of nature. I always thought that he honestly did like her because she makes life exciting, she's loyal, and would have been a happy homemaker for him.
@brianbanville781
@brianbanville781 Год назад
Josephine Tewson (Elizabeth) said in a documentary that she thinks Richard is a slightly lazy person and Hyacinth does everything for him. Similarly, Patricia Routledge (Hyacinth) said in an interview "She kept a good table, his shirts were ironed, he was always well turned out, that's what a lot of men like, and they get used to it, so they'll put up with anything."
@banannakis6723
@banannakis6723 Год назад
@@brianbanville781 Plus with Hyacinth's crazed moods and her dramatic family things were never boring for him. She took care of everything, he just had to say yes dear, do the driving, and keep her spending in check. In return his house was clean, he was well fed, and he didn't have to do any chores. While having excitement and fun in his life as well.
