I am a big fan of these 208 chassis cars. Total elegant look, but a heavy bruiser! I had a CLK320 vert, would like to find an AMG specimen. One thing I found with that bulletproof 5 speed auto is that they shift much faster when left in auto mode vs you shifting in sport mode. And they seem to know the right gear, not constantly hunt. I remember when this game out and then the E46 M3 came soon after. The Bimmer might be the ballerina, but sounded tinny. The Benz was a Grand Tourer, but sounded phenomenal.
I’m lucky enough to say that the 01’ 55 was sitting in the driveway for 10 years being weather. Is finally being restored and brought back to it’s former glory and more.
Moment of silence, for everybody that thinks, it’s a cheap car to take care of. Do you want you want you want and then you’re in the mechanic shop $3000 later and then $11,000 later But yeah, she’s a beast
I have a 2002 clk55 convertible with 30k on her.....very rare! Its a beast and one of the best looking benzes of all time in my opinion. It will be going up soon in value big time i believe....only 1300 convertibles produced
I wish mine was a convertible I have th 2002 CLK55 and I love her best car I ever bought and only paid 4500 for it abs and bas light was on cleaned the sensors when I changed the brakes and plugs all that stuff u do when u buy a used car even if they said it was already done and no problem now other than my daughter blew out the back speakers while listening to music in the driveway while I was gone sucks but easy fix
@@ricardomaldini6508 about to hit 123,000 but I need to replace the damn cats and my springs then the damn driver window just decided it dont want to roll all the way up now I've tried reseting it but no luck so now im like damn it's about to get expensive real quick
I got one for sale 2002 same color as this one but with black interior 182k mileage looks and drives wonderful only thing I put a after market radio in dvd cd bluetooth aux
Funny because we took the hood Star ⭐️ off our CLKs in the old days. We wanted the flat star more streamlined coupe style we thought. BenzWorld forums back in like 2004.
@@girl600podcast I like mine with the ornament because it's original and I'd like to keep it that way. Also it's nice seeing it as you drive along at night. Both stars look cool, imo.
@@girl600podcast no way lol quality of fuel goes down over time to make more profit , however I've not done any research into it . the possibility of technology making it better and cheaper is possible
I’ve got CLK 55 AMG 2003. Love the power, the handling, the seats. I think the 209 looks better as it has the pillar less hardtop. Windows down is like a convertible roof up. Engine hand built. Name of the builder on a plate. The 209 has mini paddles but I find flicking the gear lever easier. And sat nav which still works fine!
Wish you can come to the states in California to drive my car. I have a clk320 with amg sway bars, proper suspension, bigger brakes and all that jazz. Fast on the bends.
@@InsulinDependentDeanjust picked up a 2001 430 coupe for $1750, it definitely needs tlc but the car itself (driving and engine) is in flawless condition all the money will be going to tlc..hopefully under $2k on that but still drives like a dream
I got one for sale if you interested same color black leather 2002 182k mileage still runs great and looks great everything original except the radio I had put in..dvd cd bluetooth aux voice recognition
I have an E55 myself but I would definitely drive the CLK also, it might even be slightly faster. The video is great, loved the clips in the beginning. I was surprised about the launch though, it was spinning both wheels, is this car equipped with a Limited Slip Diff?
Why not go and earn your own instead of having it given to you? Whilst you may appreciate it, i am quite certain you will appreciate it a hell of a lot more if you save your own money and buy it.
If I can be honest, these CLK 55 AMG's can be found for cheaper than a brand new Civic so idk. Safety wise might be the concern, they might not be rich.@@CaseTheCorvetteMan
Does it have a LSD limited slip diff as standard with the AMG? or is it open diff like the non AMG sexy car. Love all my old cars. Currently got a E46 m3
Man brother dont put unleaded in it only premium unleaded gonna mess it up later on down the road i got a 2002 clk 55 it says right on the gas lid premium only and only put mobile one oil in it
@@JamesH55 i have never had brake judder in any of my 7 Mercs, the two AMGs have always stopped perfectly and never had judder either. I only use genuine brake parts and they have always been perfectly fine. almost 16 years combined between the E55 and C43 now, both have the same brakes as the CLK55.
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan Genuine breaks make the difference Being from the motor trade And driving loads of later clks Brake judder was an issue I own a w208 55 amg And I can say that the breaks are spot on as I have good discs. And pads
BFN Shrek..... Only thing I can think of is doing a automatic transmission fluid change, along with the filter and clean the magnet up. That may help it mate. What MPG do you get from your 55 on average?
Mines an example of a more rough one probably but it had/s low KMs and I was 16 when I bought it so i'm not upset. The car could have rust problems down the road but so far there's only 2 small patches at the bottoms of the front fenders for roughly an inch up but isn't visible from the side apart from some small bubbling starting. To me this is a electrical tape fix at the price of this car but I can see how if someone is intending on putting nicer wheels on and building it I can see why this would be an issue. This really isn't bad considering its totally fixable at this level and has only got this bad from living outdoors in Vancouver Canada for 18 years. Kinda shows the true quality of Mercedes Paint. It's a great car if you can find it cheap and have the money to run it. It's probably the second lightest older AMG that I can think of and has some true potential with modifications.
Pre-face lift models have rust problems, but they fixed it in the face lift editions, however the engines and gearbox of the older ones are better. The AMG model has the face lift coupe or it sure looks like it.
