@@poorboysrc It's funny that you mentioned getting another Clod Buster. I am just putting the finishing touches on a new custom Bull Head that was made from left over parts from my huge 6x6 Bull Head project truck that I built many years ago. (If you were on the RCMT message boards back in the day, my 6x6 Bull Head was called "Chernabog.") So, even though the Bull Head is not exactly a Clod Buster, I do have a new one of those that is in the works now. I also just finished up with restoring and upgrading another Clod Buster in my fleet, the "King Clod." That truck was originally built by ESP and it appeared in their catalogs and magazine ads back in the late 1980s. I bought it from an ESP message board moderator on RCMT many years ago and I finally got around to upgrading it with some old JPS machined aluminum parts that I had lying around. So, I have a couple of new (or is that old since they were sitting around for so long?) rigs in my fleet. I am just getting back into R/C monster trucks again after about a 20+ year break and I had forgotten how addictive they are!

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, but it's too bad you didn't enjoy the music. I figured that was one of the most fun, 80's parts of the whole thing. I suppose it's not for everyone, though. 👍🏻

With a completely stock Clod Buster you cannot use any sized pinion gears other than what originally comes in the kit, which are 13 tooth 32 pitch pinion gears. You have to use adjustable motor mounts to use different sized pinion gears. The expensive way to change pinion gears is to use machined aluminum gear cases, which have slotted motor mount holes so that you can use various sized pinion gears. One of the best and cheapest modifications to make to a Clod Buster is replacing the stock pinion gears with steel ones. The stock Tamiya pinion gears are made from very soft aluminum and they wear down very quickly. I never use them since they are so weak, even with the stock Mabuchi 540 motors. Aftermarket Steel 13 tooth 32 pitch pinion gears like those made by Robinson Racing are so cheap so I just use them immediately and get rid of the stock Tamiya ones.
