Jeremy Atkinson is England's last remaining clog maker using traditional craft skills. Lynwen and Dave from Artisan were intrigued, so we met up with him earlier this year at his small shop / workshop in Kington, deep in the West Country of England.
This is the first of 5 videos in which Jeremy shows how to make traditional english clogs.

This is a beautiful demonstration of workmanship. I like your explanations regarding choosing certain woods and other steps in the process. I really appreciate the care you take in making these clogs!

Super fascinating. I started wearing clogs a while back, and they are without a doubt THE most comfortable footwear I've ever worn. Really neat to watch how they're made, and the quality craftsmanship involved. There just aren't enough folks like this fine gentleman left in the world. I'd so rather pay big $$$$ for a quality handcrafted product like this, than less money for cheap, mass produced garbage that you know will need to be replaced sooner rather than later the moment it's unboxed.

As a knife maker, I really appreciate how sharp that blade is. Heat treat on it must be spot on👌🏻

Just a bit after immediately falling-in-like with the Blocker, I realized that a big part of it's beauty is the similarity in shape and fine edge to a my shaving razors-a/k/a the straight-edge razor. It resembles such fine delicate tools but is in contrast, a huge brutish tool doing massive work (relative to whiskers). Poetry right there.

It's commendable to try to keep a tradition alive. But ultimately, it's just another hobby that costs the planet more trees.

I bet one person’s collection of factory made shoes is costing the planet a lot more than all of the wooden shoes around right now
