You need a 5/8 cable for roots. I used to be a manager in a Home Depot rental now just an associate. When you rent the 50ft or 75 ft they only have the heads up to 2inch. The 100 ft comes with heads up to 3 in.

I like the spade tip on the mechanical drain cleaner. It’s my primary go to along with the spring head for sanitary clogs.
@tomdale1313
@tomdale1313 10 месяцев назад
I'm lost here, what mechanical drain cleaner and what spade bit, also what is a spring head?
@tomn4838
@tomn4838 10 месяцев назад
@@tomdale1313Good questions. Mechanical drain cleaner is a simple motor used to drive a cable through a pipe or drain in a boring motion similar to a drill, constantly rotating the cable in a clockwise direction. Water is often simultaneously fed into the pipe to flush out any obstructions. Always start out using a spade cutter if it fits in the cleanout. The spade cutter will open most clogs and has less chance of escaping a broken line because it is a larger tip. It also has less chance of getting stuck inside of a root system because it is a larger blunt object. Another name for the spring head is a bulb auger. I hope this reply helps.

I just bought a Chevy Express. Fully decked out with metal shelving and large 4' deep drawer slide out the back. Love it man. BUT VAN PRICES ARE FKING INSANE RIGHT NOW. It fits both of my MYTANA drain machines and all my plumbing tool for service and remodels. It was a gamr changer. I was working out of a 03' Chevy silverado.

Don't buy a new truck, look for a low milage used vehicle or buy a wrecked vehicle at auction and have if fixed up like new and you will save big money in the long run if you have the cash for the deals.

Not sure what you’re driving but even if you had to invest $3000 to get it running good you’re ahead of the game. Prices on new and used vehicles are crazy plus the interest rate will kill your monthly payments. Just my 2 cents worth, good luck👍

Hey, you talking to me, that's too weird my anonymity feels removed...SOAP OPERA CONTINUES, I got a Ryobi snake too, made me 100 fast ones the other day (retired on SS, I'm 71) I do little jobs like a small drain job or faucet repair, lowered a kitchen waste height (old galvy pipe 11/2")...I like that snake you're using and how you got the adapters off Ebay too, I need some more info to copycat your set up, need help with the Ebay hook-up got to have the self-feed a must for this old man...what size cable is that you using?

@brucestorey917

You’re going to mess up that cable if you do get into roots with that large cutter. There’s a reason only certain heads are made for that size cable and machine. I’ve never been a fan of drum snakes for many reasons. If you do decide, one day, that you are going to get into some serious sewer cleaning using a cable, look at the Ridgid K60 sectional machine with a 7/8” cable. I have run 200’ cutting roots with no problems with the K60. This is the king of all drain cleaning machines - high speed and high torque. You can use 5/8” cable in the same machine with a simple adjustment if you want, but I save my Ridgid K50 for those jobs.
