Meanwhile, in my world…..go to home center and discover they don’t have all the needed pieces in ABS or PVC, buy many elbow combinations of each, go home, still doesn’t work. Go back to home center, buy more stuff, repeat 4 more times, cut multiple lengths of pipe to make everything fit because the first 3 pieces were too long or too short. Take a break for dinner. Make sure no one uses the sink. Still doesn’t fit. Go back to home center and buy multiple universal kits with the bendy hose.. jury rig everything together , check for leaks, redo do 2 more times because there are leaks, tighten every connection just short of failure, no leaks, stand back and admire a job well done.

Add in drive 70 miles round trip b/c the local Lowes doesn't have the same plumbing selection that the one in the next town does. Still not sure I have everything I need to make it work. I could order it from them but it won't be here for 5 days unlike the auto parts store which can usually have things for me within 24 hours...

If this is really for beginners then I would recommend dry fitting everything before glueing a single piece. But a nice video. Well paced and easy to understand.
@rayray8687
@rayray8687 Год назад
Dry fitting can be difficult on friction-fit joints as they won’t always bottom out until they’re wetted with glue. You’ll probably end up cutting too short for a full fit. Better just to trust your tape.

WARNING! Without knowing more about what's going on plumbing-wise in the wall behind the lavatory, it appears to me that this is an illegal installation (at least as far as plumbing codes in the U.S.A. are concerned). The installer breaks the minimum trap arm length requirement which, in this case (since he's using 1-1/2" pipe) is 3" (IOW at least twice the pipe diameter). He plumbs the outlet from the p-trap directly into the fitting marking the transition from horizontal to vertical when, instead, there needs to be at least three inches worth of trap arm between the trap weir and the vent weir. In essence, he's created a "crown vent" which is a no-no. Happy to be proven wrong.

Nice work, but didn’t think of future maintenance. It’s wrong that you glued the 90 to the 45 and the 45 to the wall pipe. When there is clog, it’s hard to unclog using a snake machine because the 90 is facing downward. One of the joints should have used a thread/removable adapter.

Na man, just always grab a bunch of extension tailpieces when you grab p-traps from the supply house. With the p-trap, 1 extension tailpiece cut in the middle and a 45, you should be able to solve all misaligned drain issues, excluding those that are really jacked up due to height like commonly seen on farm sinks where some hack job did a reverse p-trap or something to rig it up instead of opening the wall and correcting the height of the San-T

He used a 45deg because that pointed the pipe in the general direction of the trap (which can swing around for about a 10" range of position. The sewer gas/water trap is the same material as the rest of the plumbing. Slope is measured as well as you can: just use a level touching the bottom of the lowest point of pipe in the horizontal run, and for every foot of pipe upstream, the bottom of the pipe should be 1/4" higher. Here, he only had about one foot of horizontal run, before it turned vertical.
