The stench in that basement must have been terrible with the black sewer. When you hear the machine strain, you know you are onto a blockage. Massive roots, you got it. Flowing like a river.

Good question Ans and the answer is in his name. NYDRAINS - The Original 49.95 Any Sewer or Drain. (which is a remarkably low price) Take a car to the tire shop and they will wash your car but that is an additional charge. The clean-up for this particular job would take hours.

@@zalmaflash It’s 49.95 per snaked direction, I believe. The problem i have is, there’s 4 inches of fecal matter left in the pit. Unhealthy to leave it lik that. Did NYD offer to scrape it into the clean outs (for extra charge) before capping off, and did homeowner decline the offer? I think NYD should tell us the protocol on pit cleanup & disinfection. My assumption is that the whole basement needs professional cleanup, and homeowner will call out ServPro to do the nasty job throughout, including the leftover fecal in the pit. Could NYD please educate us further in this area?

@Dock_Yard it's actually mud/dirt in the pit, so if I would've washed it out it would all go get stuck in the U trap and cause the homeowner more problems in the future. We do charge an extremely low rate just to clean the drain(only) and yes if it won't cause any further problems I do try to be nice to the customer and wash the pit area if anything, then again that is the homeowner responsibility and like @Zalmaflash said it would be very time consuming and there are professional companies out there to decontaminat and disinfect.

Most of them are very deep or low like the depth of a basement to line up with the city sewers, not all there are a few that's outside. And they're not considered manholes, those are in the middle of the road, the ones I work out of is called a clean-out, trap, house trap or main sewers.
