THANK YOU LOUIS IM 36 and I defended my dad in a fight with the drunk neighbor and got a felony so I had to start my own drain cleaning Business I spent two years gathering my tools for everything and finally about to get started I have 3 successful jobs under my belt and thank you for being a big part of my self learning plumbing school i have paractice toilet and drains outback my family house and use their house for practice but mostly learn on the job as I go and had to re adjust and buy several drain snakes big and small my hydro jetting rig is awsome but I need a new tip thats coming soon. God Bless My moms and dad are drug addicts im thankful for you man.
Louis, I have been a teacher for 30 years and I know good teaching when I see and hear it. Your video explaining about a house's plumbing and problems that arise with clogged drains was excellent. I am currently dealing with a reoccurring problem and your information confirmed some of my thinking. Thank you.
I used that hose thing this weekend. My snake went through the clog and didn't clear it. That hose thing was so much less work. I had such a sense of accomplishment. I was prouder than Luke Skywalker from episode IV.
Great video!! I work for my dads drain cleaning company, in the office.I type all the invoices, and when the guys bring in their paperwork stating information about a house trap, I never knew what they were talking about before! Thanks!
GREAT video. Thanks Louis. I helped a drain guy clear out the house drain in our apartment building once. Turned out there were big chunks of the plug the previous guy broke up stuck in the trap. Now I know how they got there.
Dude, you have no idea how much you helped me. So grateful I had bad clog in the house trap. No cesspool I'm in the city. I have 2 drains in the basement and spent hours starting a snake from the drains till I saw this vid and understood what was going on. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Wow this is excellent information thank you so much for your time in explaining this. I have a clog and my main cap is in the basement and is in fact full when I open it. I'm thinking of buying that compression piece to power blow whatever is clogging it out of the pipes. Last time it was tree roots. Thank you again!
Thank you Sheila , it's nice to know that your educating yourself on a Saturday nite instead of parting like most of our younger crowd , you should be proud of yourself ;- ).
Wow man thanks brother I just bought a very nice house a little under 100 yrs and I had a plumber come by and he explained to me about a 3ft trap and what not I just needed a little help and you video did it great explanation and demonstration!
Thank You, your video was very helpful. I was able to follow along easily and actually understood everything you were explaining. I was able to locate my backup. I guess I should have paid a little more attention when you said to "stand back" because I got one hell of a gushing explosion of ick from head to toe but at least my drain is clear. Thank You again!!!
Hey Thanks, Excellent video, Explains a ton about the workings of all our sewer system workings. I need the balloon to push a clog through a secondary line leading to the main line.
i removed house trap cap going to the sewer then the one coming from the house which allowed the waste to buy past the clogged elbow part of the house trap and drain into the main sewer line ...then i was able to clear the trap using a hanger and long thin metal object, that i still don't know where it came from....this video was helpful ......:D
Your video makes me feel like I'm tripping, but I appreciate your straightforward explanation for something I had no reason to actually look up. I was actually just trying to underdtand why in my two story apartment when I took the bathroom sink trap off, water came endlessly and i had to quickly replace it. I'm an electrician, not a plumber 😂
whenever it rains ALOT my garage gets flooded and I have to run a snake through the lines. great tip with the trap vent I saw it in my house never knew what it was
This guy just described 100% what I dealt with for two hours last night. Outlet side of the pipe was bone dry…trap was blocked something awful. What are your thoughts about using a test plug rather than the lead fit all??
thank you! I don't have a basement and I've never seen the candycane pipe lol, but I have what the plumbers called an emergency or secondary drain close to the house. So I guess I'll try putting one of those bladders down there.
Thanks for the video !!I have been having issues with my main drain. Had it snaked and hydro cleaned . Still having issues the plumber says to remove the house trap. Don't really feel comfortable doing that.
I thought hoped my line was only clogged up but now think it's broken loose . Looks fairly shallow but under concrete partly. I can turn the line it moves.. Fairly easily so hoping not too far in ..Darnn.
good video. Thank you. I removed whole house trap in a house that was built in 1964, which was common at that time. Removing it was literally the best thing I ever did. It was as major source of clogs for 15 years! My question is the air vent. It was capped of. My upstairs toilets flush fast and with no issues. The basement, which is only slightly above grade, never had a bathroom originally. Now bathroom toilet and sink drain very slowly. Should I re-attach the vent, that used to be attached to whole house trap to help with the venting?
Thank you for the instructional video. It was very helpful. I have a question though. I don't know if you take questions or not. I don't have a cesspool, but I do have a slow-draining / partially clogged toilet and am wondering if it might be that the main line is clogged. I don't have a cesspool though. My line goes right to the street sewer. I have a frame house with a toilet that is attached to a woodrotted floor that rocks, so the wax seal is likely bad - Could it be that because of the bad seal, there isn't a vacuum to pull the water down making it look like the toilet is clogged when there's just no vacuum? When I flush, the bowl fills and the water starts to go down a few inches and then stops as if it is clogged. I ran a toilet auger through about a dozen times and it came back clean every time. I was wondering if it could be that the seal is bad prevent air getting in somehow and not allowing the water to drain. There is no water coming up into the shower or anything and doesn't appear to be any problem with water not draining in our sink. Thank you in advance for your opinion on this if you would be willing.
Every 6 months I have to put on a huge glove, get a screwdriver and dig in the interior trap and remove the calcium(i think) build up. What liquids can I use to keep the main line pipe clog free since a tenant lives there and gets aggravated. I live in Brooklyn NY btw.
I have one for you, so my house trap with the 2 plugs is in my the basement. I had a huge flood in my basement. That came from under the house, through the door which give me access to the house trap. The issue I’m having is the water that’s flooding down their which also came into the basement was clean water. As if it raised from the dirt under the house. The water is clean and clear which tells me it’s not the sewer. Any idea what you think it might be.
What’s the story behind having three plugs in the basement? Many videos show two running traps but I have three and can’t find anything explaining this scenario. Thx
my washing machine is in the basement, after its final spin it drains the water out, all of a sudden most of that drained water rushes back through the main line and back into the washer. whats the issue
Wow, are there a lot of houses with building traps still? In 15 years of plumbing I came across one house with a building trap. It was a 140 year old farm house. Originally these were used before individual fixture protection was invented. It was probably the worst mistake early plumbers made. In my city these were ALL dug up and replaced with a two 45° elbows.
unfortunately we dont all live in your city and have to be able to fix these issues ....so unless u gonna tell us how to install the 45 degree eblow be gone!
Everytime we wash clothes the basement drain overflows with lint and wet waste. Can I snake the drain instead of the long pipe up the wall of my basement?
What's your take on all three toilets in the house easily clogging up. one has been that way for years. as of lately the other two have been doing the same. All tubs and sinks are fine. should I snake all toilets or go straight to the trap?
hi Louis ,you know your stuff. My trap clogged twice with what look like sheet rock mud or cement mud, i cleaned and the water ran freely but i'm worried about how this get into the pipe. Any advise would be appreciated, thank you
Hi, I have two cleanouts. I think one is the storm clean out and one is the sanitary. How can I tell which is which? They’re both filled with water :( Thanks
Hey Louis, I live in Chicago and sometimes I dont see a "cleanout cap" anywhere on the premise inside or outside..is it possible that some city sewer systems dont have cleanouts?
Ive been getting water back up every month for 3 months im sure I have a problem, They come snake it and few weeks later same thing what should I do? ive only been there 3 months. that's not normal help me
