I have used MTPM for a number of years and its layout is especially suitable for teaching young people about partitions. I do not recall it having a clone mode in the free edition as some below have claimed. In my opinion it makes sense for Shadow Maker to be a separate product as cloning is a different category of operation. Some have remarked your accent and presentation style and I agree that a concise and clear use of English with a Hispanic (or Italian) accent is pleasant. You would make a really good teacher.....

You can use an older version Minitool Partition to use the cloning feature for free, which would be version 11.

Many videos show how to clone disk for free using MiniTool Partition Wizard, however now it keeps asking for license key when trying to clone disk or clone partition. That's really unfortunate. As of today (09/04/2021) I was only able to perform the clone with Clone Disk functionality of MiniTool Shadow Maker (on Free Trial Mode). MiniTool Partition Wizard is unusable for this goal in a free mode.

I have a laptop with a SSD and a HD. I need to replace the SSD to a bigger one. What do I have to do to clone it? Make an image to the HD, replace the SSD and then bring back the image to the new SSD?

you just need to clone it to bigger capacity ssd. yes i think you can do that.

I don't understand. You said use the free version of partition wizard but it cannot clone the system disk. But, you seemed to clone the hdd then set it up in bios as the system disk? Could you explain this please?

I just cloned a dying slow Kingston 240GB SSD to a new Samsung EVO 870 1TB with Minitool Partition. All the software works fine on the new SSD.

This wouldn't work because there are normally several hidden partitions on the disk and even if there weren't windows os is big so just copying it with windows integrated copy paste there will be errors with it if you need to do it there are plenty of free options out there Just be careful or what you download

Can I deselect certain folders on the disk that I don't want cloned using this program? I can't seem to find a cloning program that allows me to do this.

After I cloned the drive, it created other 3-4 partitions, some of them are 15MB or 5MB size. Is there any way to merge them all?

do not merge it, if you did clone it, it is there by default.

After I cloned my files from hdd to ssd and installing it. My laptop really works fine. But I noted that it created a new partition file on my ssd on showing in drives as "drive e" with name ESP. Is it safe to remove it? If yes, how? Thanks and more power to the people like you 😊

you cannot boot normally if you delete that partition.

A bit late, but if this is Windows, are you able to go into disk management (diskmgmt.msc)? right click on the partition assigned to the drive letter, select 'Change Drive Letter and Paths' and click "Remove". You are not removing the drive, only the association with the drive letter, which should remove it from File Explorer. I've noticed this happens with basically any cloning tool I use. if there's a hidden partition for OEM system management, recovery, etc..., it gets exposed with the cloning.

actually wala pa ako iba nattry na cloning tool. pero as of this time, katpos ko lang mag upgrade from 500 gb hdd to 250 gb ssd using minitool partition wizard. so far wala po ako naencounter na problem during the entire process.

system disk is boot disk, the drive that contains windows

it depends on what you are going to do. if u are more about playing with disk partitions, u need the partition manager. but if you are more into disk backup, use the shadowmaker.. both apps have a "bonus" tool to clone disk
