Today I have my full review of the Phoibos Eagle Ray GMT. The Eagle Ray GMT is $200 watch that packs a ton of features and surprising quality for a great price. But there are a number of missteps that IMO keep this watch from being a classic.

Of the four Phoibos watches I own, this is the one a grab to wear often, mine is now on a Barton Elite strap.

Very nice. I actually sold mine recently. Nothing wrong with it, I think it was the Roman numerals on the minute track. I have some automatic GMTs with the ETA 2893-2. The GMT only adjusts forward. I know the Rolex GMTs the hour hand is what is adjusted and the GMT is not.

This is a nice piece! I’m a sucker for compressor style watches! I recently picked up an Alpina Seastrong Heritage Diver. I Would like this Phoibos more of it was automatic, also I’m still not sure if I like their squid/octopus logo or not.

Seems like very few people keep it in the tropic strap , I've got the red dial and have it on a black seatbelt NATO with red edges , looks really nice I think.

He did a video earlier this year, I believe he got it when it first came out. I actually just sold mine on eBay. Check places that have pre-owned watches. However, I was surprised how much mine sold for, it actually went for more than retail.

I wonder if a Seiko bracelet would work for this watch, or is there a stock bracelet that stands out?

I think you'd be able to find a Seiko bracelet that would work pretty well with the Eagle Ray GMT. May not be a perfect fit, but it shouldn't be too difficult to track one down.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the second hand misses the markers? Still, gorgeous watch!

Good catch! It can be quite difficult to have them manufactured with everything lining up.

Neal how does this compare to the Vostok Komandirskie GMT watch in your opinion?

This watch is on another level in regards to they build quality and the fit and finish. But the Vostok has that charm and quirkyness that a lot of us that are fans of Russian watches are drawn to. That's a tough comparison to make oh, because both watches are so different.

@@josepha5 I have quite a few automatics in my collection. But I do prefer quartz watches. I really liked their Simplicity, the durability, and the time keeping accuracy. I just like they're simple grab-and-go nature. Also I don't have to worry about magnetism or shock damage as much as I do with my automatics.
