# Synchronization of light and sound, # camera split cut split, and encounters with the unknown, I went to see a movie theater around 1977 when I was young. The scene where the light and sound were synchronized was very exciting.🤣I remember. 🤔😁 Thank you. 😊 JST、6:49
Even to this very day... to see and hear the communication in this Scene...still gives me HOPE* as tears trickle down this 73+ year young...Grandma's cheeks*
I saw this movie as a young child (maybe 6?) and never forgot the sequence where they were communicating with the ship and the first 5 notes. I was mesmerized! I need to watch it again as an adult! Oh, and the mashed potatoes scene!
One of the most beautiful moments in Sci-Fi history. THIS is Sci-Fi...not big goofy looking CGI creatures that just make stupid sounds and kill everything...that is a hack's Sci-Fi story....THIS is absolutely EPIC and brilliant. No need for over-the-top action and constant stuff moving around everywhere...this took it's time smoothly because it KNOW'S it's "THE SHIT!" When else do you see a movie that is a mystery the entire movie, intense at moments, only to lead up to the fact that these Aliens are beautiful, peaceful creatures who take pleasure in communicating with Humankind? It's a thought-provoking scene with JUST the use of music, minimal dialogue, and facial expressions that you can read from a mile-away. How is it that 1977 got Sci-Fi right and so perfect...but now we STILL get the most overblown, big-budget Sci-Fi crapfests that are only SLIGHTLY entertaining at times, yet they have an even bigger following. I mean c'mon....something like MIB is complete and utter shit...I mean the first one was OKAY (and I'm being generous) but the sequels were the BIGGEST PILES OF SHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN. It's sad to me that something like MIB can get a sequel and be SO TERRIBLE and yet still everyone will see it and pay for it...but Close Encounters of the Third Kind is HIGHLY overlooked, except from older people who actually witnessed FILMMAKING.
I remember seeing this movie at the theaters when I was a teenager with my younger brother. This scene was overwhelming. Along with the rest of the audience, we gasped and our jaws dropped at the majesty of it all. So much so that when it was over, we called our mother and asked if we could stay and see it again(You could do that back then). Im writing this in December of 2020 in the midst of the Corona Pandemic. The movie industry has ground to a halt and theaters are closed most of the time. People have turned to watching movies from home and many predict theaters will remain closed permanently. I dont believe that for a minute. Seeing a movie in a theater for the first time is a shared experience you just dont get at home. Imagine seeing Avengers: Endgame at home without seeing it on the big screen first.
I never got to see endgame at the cinema 🎥 because THE TRUE STORY CALLED THE INFINITY GAUNTLET,,,Was read decades before the film's were made,,,,,WAY BETTER THAN THE FILM,,THANK YOU JACK KIRBY AND STAN LEE!!!!!!!
The affects are still great! Not dated at all! I remember seeing this in the theater originally and we had the vinyl soundtrack album which I played all the time!
I bought this movie at a yard sell when I was a kid think it would be a typical alien battle movie and I was disappointed but know I see why it's special
Would have won best original score if it hadn't some up against Star Wars at the academy awards... John Williams must have been on top of the world, being nominated twice in one year
I've been to Devil's Tower. The other side does not look anything like this. It is actually a stunning view of the high plains. What is funny is the entrance still looks like it did in the movie, including the little shack. There is a cool prairie dog field next to it.
In January of 2015, something came over our house at about 2:00 AM, and it sounded a lot like this only louder. We ran outside and couldn't see it at first, but we finally saw some lights moving to the northwest. Whatever it was, it was massive!
I had an experience like that when I was younger funjybthing is that it happened just as you see the UFO's flying by in the movie, I was about 10 at the time and I know it scared the shot out of me
Legend actor Steve McQueen did blunder mistake not refusing to act in this blockbuster movie directed by Steven Spielberg, then the role was given to Richard Dyfuss, who did performed meticulously. Really a great sci-fic movie based on UFO and Aliens.
I've always wanted to see a movie about the people who came back to earth to a whole new decade maybe even a whole new century from the looks of some of them and what life would be like
Always liked how humans are constantly trying to make sense of it all and decode what every tone means, while the aliens seem like they just want to have fun and make music with us.
The keyboardist is Phil Dodds, the technician who was to install the synthesizer..Speilberg realized he could play it and hired him on the spot for the role.
As much as I love most Sci-fi movies and TV shows, why can't we have more shows that have us meeting aliens and it's all peaceful and awesome like this?!
This may sound odd, but for years, I have had an obsession with formulating a mathematical equation that will give me the next set of musical notes. I feel a predictable pattern in the notes and I truly believe that the composer has an undisclosed postlude yet to be discovered.
Has anybody noticed the similarity between the first musical notes (Also the theme music) and the very last refrain between the two principal characters in the Opera Aida?
I remember when I went to devils tower years ago after my 6th grade of school, and I didnt know about this movie at the time im pretty sure, but man, to scale that huge mass of alien hardware to the size of devils tower, is just mind-blowing to me! o .o

Does it? I wonder if you thought the same after watching the smurfs movie? There's a distinction most people are able to make and thats the line between reality and fantasy. Question is, do you know where that line is or do you see every fantasy movie on the big screen as being a potential depiction of a real life incident?
If I remember correctly, Richard Dreyfuss' character had lost his job and his wife and kids left him because of his obsession with the aliens, so why not go off with them on their craft?
In the alternate ending that Spielberg decided against at the last minute, the movie actually ends with them releasing a biomechanically engineered alien parasite upon humankind. In the epilogue, it is shown to infect the entire human species within hours; travelling around the globe by means of enormous aerosols. It effectively changes the entire human species into horrific, mindless abominations that proceeds to kill eachother. The movie then ends with the poignant line "If a lot of people loved eachother, the world would be a better place to live." A lot of people doesn't know about that
This "alternate" ending only exists in your mind. Spielberg's primary goal for CE3K was to be a friendly and optimistic experience when encountering the aliens. He also wanted to convey a message of spirituality and transcendence. The song “When You Wish Upon a Star” was included at the end of the movie, suggesting that the UFO experience was a kind of wish fulfillment and a way of escaping the mundane world.
I'VE GOT THIS MOVIE ON DVD AND IT WAS DIRECT STEVEN SPIELBERG DIRECTED THIS MOVIE AND WHEN THE MOTHER SHIP LANDED ON A HIGH ROCK AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WERE TAKEN BY ALIENS OVER HALF A CENTURY AGO WALKED OUT OF THE MOTHER SHIP AND SMALL GREY ALIENS WALKER ED OUT OF THE MOTHER SHIP LANDED ON A MOUNTAIN AND A SMALL BOY SAW THE ALIEN AND HE WANTED TO GODOWN BUT HIS MOTHER STOPPED HIM AND THEN THE SPACE SHIP TOOK OFF AND IT WENT INTO SPACE AND THE ACTOR RICHARD DREYFUS IS IN THIS MOVIE AND I'VE GOT THIS MOVIE ON DVD AND it's A GREAT SCIENCE FICTION ONE 😁
This movie was amazing. This is a movie I wish they would remake. But only if Spielberg did it. Anyone else would ruin it. Maybe with Clive Owen as the lead.

Using a Moog synthesizer to communicate was a scientifically good idea, will it made it more interesting they have on keyboards, Edgar Winter, Keith Emerson, or Todd Rundgren.👍👍👍
Is this video sped up? Roy reacting to the shattering glass, (and the glass, itself,) seemed a little sped up. Him turning around, to see reactions, definitely seemed sped up
This is taken from the theatrical cut right? Wasn't legendary flyer; "Amelia Earhart" returned by the aliens in the Special Edition version along with the other humans!!!
