Closed runway at Sangster airport leaves several passengers stranded 

The airlines should have been notified early so that they could notify their passengers.The passengers could have been on hold at their hotels or cancel their flights .Its a shame.

I better get myself some travel insurance before I fly out in a couple of months. I don't need this to happen to me and not be compensated.

What a shame on the airport system. The fact that there is a problem with the runway is not the the only part thats bad. The poor customer service makes the whe situation bigger.

Some of those people could have gotten on the Knutsford Express bus and travel to Negril or Ocho Rios.

I remember my JetBlue flight from Kingston 11 hours in the airport. Did not mind the extra 2 days in Jamaica but. You need to do some type of compensation

couple of problems here, the airports are not opperated by Jamaican management, the staff are employed to the new management. secondly we are all aware that the runway was being extended, they have to at some point have that extension ready, montego bay has 1 runway so to complete the extention they have to shutdown the active runway to facilitate the finishing works. the runway has to be paved and leveled this will take sometime to do. however what should have transpired is a weeks notice to airlines and operate flights to kingston only. if you had persons leaving montegobay they should have shuttled the passengers and delay the flights for them. so if this continues most likely jutc buses will be limited on the routes. because they now have to go divert them to airport opperations. under police escort

Why they didn't work on the runway in the night so not to disrupt the flight.The airport is responsible for that delayed.let them pay your over head expensive.

Airport should pay for the extra cost to the passengers for accommodations foods etc

I think is time now they look into either building another airport or make more runways on the existing airports.
