I’m so proud of you two…Love how you work so well together…You both are teaching Sadie so much…What a well rounded young lady she will be…Teamwork makes the dream work!!! 👠🚌👠
After seeing you guys build, WITH YOUR BARE HANDS I might add, two houses AND a business in the few years i've been watching you, I feel like I am doing nothing with my life 🙃Ya'll are kicking butt!👏
I lived in a caravan with a tent for a lounge area & laundry area, in a caravan park overlooking a surfing beach called Nahoon in East London, South Africa, I loved every moment of it. Then moved into a Park Home. Tiny house living is the best, comfortable & easy. You will always have happy days!
Hey guys. Neighbor aaron again.... I have a compressor with siding nailer so its meant for not sinking nails.!!! Lol. You won't owe me anything.. we are following the same journey in life... (We traveled in a bus) Im from wisconsin and now live in vt. I know you are past the siding but reach out if you need anything. Ill have to meet you at some point because i want to put a couple of these on my mountain top and am interested in cost, etc. Great work!
I just love love love Sadie. She such a smart little girl. Aw sweet someone sent her a necklace. Tiny house is going up fast. Can't wait to see it done! ❤
you need metal support on the rafters, hurrican clips, also remember you are where it snows and you need rafters closer together and larger. Snow builds up on metal roofs also. just a thought.
A screw gun is great for some of those small inside corner projects. A screw would go in just as fast as a nail and is definitely more durable and way stronger. Lots of manufacturers make impact screw guns with torx bits. 3 to 4 inch screws work great for what you are doing. Usually in the deck building section of your box stores.
Actually no. Screws don’t have sheer strength. They will snap with very little movement. Unless the box references a standard those screws are not appropriate for framing.
Love Annie - Dom's idea, I restore antique homes in New England. Really awsome to find notes and gifts to future craftsmen in walls, and under floors. Have enjoyed ya'lls vids since the early days on your way south. Its fun to watch the learning process , your approach is nice to witness.
Love the cabin build! We have been living in a 5.5m wide x 11m long, post and beam for over 9 years. We are in southern Italy. Our roof is sloped from back to front, approx 5m in the back to 4 in the front. Rainwater all the way baby! Bathing and washing up, uv water filter system for drinking. Can't wait to see your finished cabin!
Th tiny home is looking great! The majority of nail guns (pneumatic or battery powered) can be adjusted for the depth of nail seating. I get your desire to hang and bang, as it is quite satisfying. But if you decide to do a larger structure or are in a time-pinch, definitely get yourself a nail gun!!
You are crushing it! You are making progress so rapidly. Please don't beat yourselves up about how fast or slow you are going. All in due time. Sadie is getting more beautiful and adorable everyday.Much love from Florida.
Aww I used to be my husband's sidekick when it came to anything around the house fixing the cars building stuff..then I had kids and had to be there less and less I miss those days
Amazing progress even without a nail gun. Love watching the little ballerina and her jumping to the colors and how happy she looks when playing and of course when she told Jordan "Be careful dad", so sweet and loving. Keep up the good and until the next one be safe and prosper.
Still nice to be able to have a camera on kids as they sleep. Little kids can roam unnoticed, so you could check her on your phone as she naps, she could draw on the wall with her hand print, which is a compliment to her input on projects, sorta like the newspaper on the inside of the wall, so that you have a date and significant date or event of when it was built. It's all up to you!
fun to watch this new stylish shelter go up on the chunk of heaven in Vermont .. can't wait for the next episode :) you two are hammering it .. xo from Canada
Nice build on that little cabin, you two! It's so beautiful up there in the fall--when our family lived in Boston way back when for 10 years, we called those visitors 'Leaf Peepers.' They came in from EVERYWHERE to see all the colors--even the UK!
You guys are killing it. The small house is looking so cool. Sadie is the bomb. She couldn't be more perfect...so cute, so smart, so talented. But then, she takes after her mommy and daddy. Just wanna know, have you been to Ben and Jerrys for some delicious ice cream?
You need a nail gun to help with the building. It saves your arm from getting sore or tired. Also, it makes the build go faster, especially since it's October and winter is just around the corner. If you're planning on getting the roof on before it snows and to protect the interior. Ask Trent why you need to get it done soon. Good luck on the build.
Consider building your house so you can back your airstream next to it and connect the two. It increases your living space and keeps all the little critters out while you're not using your R. V
You need to drill a well. I'm in Maine and if your wster table is say twenty feet down it's pretty cheap. Like $1000 to start. You can just have the pipe put in and do the well pump yourself. I prefer hand pumps or solar electric that are non freezable. You should know how deep your water table is. Dig a well dude❤
I have a friend who owns an insulation install company, spoke to him recently, and asked if he did spray foam insulation. He proceeded to tell me that he doesn’t, and one reason is because of experiences with home owners who used spray foam insulation, then decided to add on to their home. Once they began to take exterior walls apart , they found mold and rot between foam and exterior cover ( siding , for example), since residential use of spray foam insulation, is relatively new, but old enough for people to add on to foam insulated homes , this problem is just now being discovered. We live in West Virginia ( we actually live one town over from Wild Roots Cafe) with similar seasons as Vermont , so I wanted to share this information, as you mentioned it in this video. I really enjoy your content. Best wishes
That is going to be a great little house! Change so the Airstream opens towards the home and double your space! Plus a future heated space for your water in the winter!!
You are doing a great job Building your tiny home. it is starting to look like a home, Sadie is so adorable and I hope that she loved Having Leo to play with
Your tiny house is coming along! Please….wear safety glasses! Sadie is so imaginative and creative! I loved her little dance on the colored paper! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
I love working with wood. It’s very satisfying, but I haven’t done it in awhile. I think I’m going to get a few pallets from a place & build some birdhouses. Just to use a hammer, saw & nails again. Or go see if my brother will let me work an hour or two on one of his job sites, but then I have to fill out paperwork & basically be an employee for liability reasons. Plus, nail gun. Oh well. I’m on a different project of gutting & purging my entire very tiny home. About the size of yours. I use a kitchen in the actual house & a shower there too, as I only have a powder bathroom. People don’t know what they are missing living in huge homes! You just really don’t need so much stuff to live happy, comfortable lives. Can’t wait to see more!!! Love you kids! From Oregon with 🤎💛💚🧡❤️ Jess
It’s going to be epic. But all I can think of is how cold it’s going to be when the lake snows come flying in. You are used to “cold” in Panama..but it’s going to be so cold in comparison!
That looks like a Jamaica Cottage Shoppe building. I live in Virginia and found those guys a few years ago. I bought and installed a 16x30 shop. I love it and it is so well built. Best of luck and we are praying for you guys!
So cool to have an extra, more solid and weather resilient structure. No nail gun - jumping over quarters to pick up dimes. Get one! Did I miss the video explaining plan for water and electricity to the structure?
Stress skin siding is less work to put together and warmer in the long term. Post and Beam is the perfect type of construction for this siding. I know a man in Petersburg, NY that uses them exclusively.
I think he didn't use a nail gun to avoid the nails going completely into the wood, so if he needed to remove the nail from the wood to reposition it, it would be alot easier.
A Man in Vermont , I used to be friends with . He was one of the 1st people in the USA to build tiny houses, ( not for sale ) . He use to live in Bakersfield VT , PETER KING . He was building his in 1989 .
I had a homestead , off grid in Fletcher VT . We built a log cabin ourselves . I got the land in 1988, I lived here until 1992. Then Moved to Burlington, VT due to a divorce , Then moved into Oregon. I now do urban permaculture in ABQ , NM 87107
I was relieved to see those cross braces go up between the rafters. Without those you have the classic cathedral collapse where the rafters push the sidewalls apart and the whole structure comes down from snow load. I would put up a few braces where you could, lower on the rafters to make it stronger. This is why builders in snow country use trusses engineered for the load, and why New England roofs tend to have very steep pitches. Is grid electricity available along the road? If so, getting a connection might be cheaper than trying to put in off-grid solar. Grid-tied solar is really cheap now because no (or few) batteries.
That hammering brings back memories before pnuematic nailers. I would have rented a nailgun for a weekend but I'm not a young'n anymore. 🙂 It's looks good.
I absolutely love you guys so much. If I were there, I'd give y'all hugs and kisses on the cheeks. Great work Jordan. YO THEE MAN!!!😂😂 Sadie's beautiful piroutte's and drawing and Kaylee has so many hats she wears....😮😮😊😊 Beautiful Fam + beautiful dreams = BEAUTIFUL LOVE❤❤
OK, here's a tip for you - if you wanna talk about modular living, and bringing stuff like that onto the land there.... have you ever thought about buying a used horse trailer? One for moving actual horses, so it's bare bones, not the refurbished ones premade with living quarters... it would give you the modular room/space you need for something like a laundry room or storage area, and you can easily modify it so that it's airtight with windows and insulation - and it is already on wheels and can be pulled in there just like your airstream is! It would give you more "safely enclosed" room to use, until you are certain what you want to use it for; and then you can remake it for whatever that specifically is. Perhaps give that some consideration and keep an eye out for good deals, and you might find exactly what you need, right when you are ready to get it! It's an easy add on and upgrade to what you've already got going on there, just saying.
The Foliage is STILL GORGEOUS 🍃🍂🍁💯 Don't you want to stay long enough for the first ❄snow? Would it be Sadie's first ☃️snowman? We had our first snow of the winter a few days ago up here in Jasper🇨🇦Canada but the warmth is coming back & melting it already😖unfortunately it took all our Foliage 💔 Thank you for sharing such Amazing scenes, INCREDIBLE Adventures and your AWESOME FAMILY ❤ Sending Great Gratitude & Appreciation, Big Blessings & Love, Many Mercies & Adventures, All the Compassion & Luck🍀🙏💞
Siding; stress skin panels are made of foam and 2 sheets of OSB and sheetrock on the inside. They are a sandwich applied to the outside of the building all done in one.
