Recorded at the 2014 ANCC National Magnet Conference. Lauren Manning’s life is an unforgettable lesson in the power of hope and strength. One minute, she was a successful financial executive at Cantor Fitzgerald. The next, she was engulfed in flames as terrorists crashed a plane into One World Trade Center. Through fierce willpower, Lauren fought her way back from catastrophic injuries and reclaimed her life. Her incredible journey out of the fires of 9/11 resonates for all of us: No matter how difficult life’s challenges, we have the power to prevail.

This woman is my true hero !! Whenever I have a really really bad day I remember Lauren’s story and I’m ashamed. I gather strength from her strength. She is a true woman’s woman !!! Incredible!!! Not one more !!!!!!

I’ll tell you what strength is……it’s those hundreds of firefighters who went up those stairs into absolute hell while thousands ran down….or those corporate workers who stayed and died because of helping and saving their colleagues, friends…strangers….or my ex Heinrich Ackermann…. who stayed to help those at AON live…. and died because he chose to be last out…..Or those who’d found the courage to jump…and held the hands of those jumping with them to certain death…. giving courage to others in their final moments…..Or those who searched ‘the pile’ for life…at the expense of their future health, now fighting cancer…..because they put their own lives second…..or the stewardesses who called in a terrifying situation….or those who stormed the cockpit to stop an attack on Washington D.C and died trying…..or those who called their loved ones just to make sure their families knew they were loved…….so much courage…..love of others…..in the midst of facing their own mortality. I applaud all those who died…..and those like Lauren who fought through such physical and mental trauma.

I'm a disabled police officer married to a Texas nurse with over 25 years service. On 12-19-1073 my dad was electrocuted with 169,000 volts,burned and helicoptered to Parkland Hospital. The nurse who kept my daddy alive thru his most trying times was also my ER nurse 29 years later. What are the chances? She was a tuff,straight talking "mean nurse ratchet". She saved my life also.

I remember 9/11 like yesterday I had to have been around 9 when it happened and watched it all unfold on tv 💔 I got hit by a car back in 2016 My femur was snapped and I was supposed to have lost my leg, I had to learn to walk again and my issues with my leg and knee are chronic, but when I was laying in that hospital bed in unimaginable pain I knew the medical field is the career I wanted, either to be a surgeon or a nurse. I’m still working on getting into college but I’m not giving up. Thank you Mrs. Manning you have encouraged me to pursue what I know I’m mean to do in my life 💜

The impact destroyed all the stairs and elevators so people above could not just walk down. She would have either choked to death on the smoke, jumped to death, or made it to a northwest window and have serious trouble breathing in 150-300 degree temperatures for about 90 minutes before being crushed to death in the collapse. that whistling sound that she was describing wasn't from the explosions that was a direct result from the entire tower being pushed to the right, and then slowly rocking back to the left, then back to the right, etc every time it rocked one way, it forced a lot of the air inside of the rocked side, to the other side, and out the building and the only way out was all the way down through the lobby and all that air pulled a lot of the flames down with it so it wasn't from the explosions like people think when i first heard that? i knew that it was incorrect

God doesn't exist. You'd have to have empirical evidence to convince anyone with a brain. Moreover, this horrible event shows how religion is corrupt and evil. Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into buildings. End of story.

I’ve already commented on this elsewhere but more likely than not she’s filled in gaps in her memory caused by the trauma using other survivors’ recollections. It’s a common occurrence since the mind wants to fill in those memory gaps. But it comes across rather cringe in parts due to the over-delivery. The story is more than sufficiently dramatic to not require the theatrical stage recounting she gives. Of course it’s a paid speaking engagement thus it’s a performance which brings me back to the 😬
@killz0ne215
@killz0ne215 3 года назад
No, she ran across the road and to the grass to put the fire out. She then laid there looking up until the next plane hit. She was probably half out of it during that time but remembers the 2nd plane as that is a very vivid thing to witness.

Incredible story, she is so lucky to be alive. She was wrong about the elevators. None of them could travel the full 110 floors. I believe the Sky Lobby around floors 72-74 was the highest you could go before taking a differemt elevator higher. This happened to be where the 1st plane hit, hence the flames were able to travel to the floor lobby down the lift shaft.
@records26
@records26 3 года назад
Wrong. Two express elevators went to the top for Windows on the World, plus one of the seven service elevators ran to the top as well. The plane hit the 91st floor and the fuel poured down those three shafts.
