For your contrast problem with the purple-pink-grey set the solution would be to wear grey. Murky interesting colours mix the best with others alike, so no white, no black, no pure shades.

i applaud this video, it is like a self imposed public shaming of yourself and i am all for it. we all regret things we bought, 9/10 it is from H&M and yet the alure of fast fashion is something i cannot escape

The first set is actually really clean!! Just wear a clean white tee underneath and rock some all white Air Force 1 instead… that way, the color would pop out more

I like the first pieces: both the jacket and pants. The colour looks great on you and this outfit fits you perfectly. Both the white and the black tee shirts are fine choices to wear with it.

You might want to try pairing the purple pieces with some earth tones or even a rich grey. Even the tee you wore for this video might be OK. I was having the same struggle with a mauve blazer I picked up on sale from Lemaire. Black was too much of a contrast, but once I tried it with olive browns, taupe, and other shades in that range, it worked much better. Now, rather than neglecting it, I'm actively hoping to find some dark green pants that will work too. I don't think such shades are ever going to be in a regular rotation, but I'm grateful to have the option when the mood strikes.

100% my most regretted is the first time I bought "vegan leather" white platform boots and was introduced to the wonderful world of "Is this an actual leather alternative or is this plastic?" The online images showed a matte white boot, but when they came home, they had an undeniable plasticky sheen to them. The shoes were fine otherwise (and I got them on sale, so it wasn't a huge loss or anything), but that shine made it really hard to pair with the rest of my clothes, so I've barely worn them since. I've been much more mindful of checking material lists now and seeing vegan leather in the listing will almost always make me check out unless there's customer-submitted images somewhere on the page.

I bought a Dior oblique overshirt (since I loved how the oblique was weaved in, and I was big into knitwear at the time). I have yet to wear it even once, I bought it for the "craftsmanship" but now I know to get things I can truly wear everyday.

I think awareness of one’s “color season” is much more prevalent in women’s fashion circles. You seem to have underlying cool tones which could do a lot to explain why you like certain warm-toned clothing in the red/magenta area or even a yellow-y off white when you’re not wearing it then are unhappy with the way it looks when on. Clothes that aren’t in your color palette will always make you look a bit “off” even though you can’t really put your finger on why

I've got the horrendous habit of buying pieces I really like, fit me well, then never wear them for fear of damaging them. Something I'm consciously trying to overcome. Going to get groceries at the corner store? Kit it out! Who cares? Enjoy your pieces, I say.

For the first 2 items it seems like the biggest mistake was buying the matching pants. Honestly the jacket is amazing and it actually fits very well with the blackout fit underneath it that you showed. I would imagine it looked just as good with a whiteout fit going off of the white shirt under it alone. I think it's a good statement piece for a more muted base layer!

Yes, at the start of my fashion journey I ended up buying some egregiously bad items because I was just too excited and wanted as many big name brands as possible. One of them was a white Bape polo with the bright multi-coloured sta pattern all over it. It's so ugly and makes you look like Polka Dot Man if he was a hypebeast. Funnily enough I still have it sitting in my wardrobe despite deciding long ago that I needed to get rid of it.

When I was 16 (12 years ago) I bought a £75 cybergoth hoodie from Camden Market (not even Cyberdog, one of the smaller stalls instead) that has a massive wizard hood, I never wore it for obvious reasons but feel like it would still go hard with the right fit in the current fashion climate. I still have it so maybe I should have a go

Love both the veilance pieces 😊! I think your subconscious used the sale as an excuse because of how well they actually suit you. But don’t worry, it’s a surprisingly difficult colour/finish to style until you’re used to it. I have a few items in those awesome unusual colours, and it takes longer than usual to realise how versatile they can be. The colour is desaturated so I’d probably keep the top complementary with something like grey, and add more black/white high contrast pops of colour back in through accessories.

Also I have the same veilance bomber and wear it all the time 😅 works great in summer with black shorts, white tank, blue cap and white sneakers. Also all black fits in spring/ fall. Even combines nicely with a smart neutral beige pant imo

For the Rigards glasses they actually sell two different fits. There is a western fit and an Asian fit. Depending on which one you have, the bridge fits differently.

Techwear for me is almost solely just watching other people wear the stuff I can't get :D

first outfit the light(er)-ish(kinda) maroon outfit / pants/jacket is so fire, not trying hard on color but you know it's unique both jacket and the pants loooks good together. kinda looks like a quiet luxury on you. overall 100% great.

My worst purchase was a pair of harness boots. The quality on them is great , I just never thought about when I would wear them. I regret it mostly because they were expensive.

So, I'm not huge into fashion in the way that would warrant me to be considered "knowledgeable" in it, but for the first set of clothes with that muted purple look, it reminded me of another content creator named Fly With Johnny Thai, and he highlighted how one of the most underrated color combos out there was purple and yellow. Now I'm only saying this because I genuinely feel like it could work out very well with some more pastel/muted yellow, or even gray. Also, I've had my fair share of bad buys too, but most of them were from my very early times with getting into fashion, so it's mainly just Amazon/basic drop shipper clothes that were advertised to be cool looking. I fell into that techwear trap thinking that they were cool and all, but ultimately never fitted properly in them at all. Also, love your vids! It's very fun to watch with a slightly monotone and dry type humor that works so well with your personality (I apologize if that sounded like a backhanded compliment, I really don't know how to word it better, but if it helps, it's kind of like Moist Critical's humor with a mix of sarcasm and very brutally honest remarks)! For the orange shirt, I ran into the same problem with an orange jacket I bought. It's actuallly useful for an emergency night clothing when its very dark out (easy for cars/others to see you). I stuffed mine in the car for those times.

Honestly, Decalthalon socks are among the best I own in terms of longevity and comfort. They do their own internal brands based on what sport they are aimed at, but you can get everything from longer, thinner socks to thick, chonky ankle socks and they do black and white with or without various branding/details and they are just cheap as heck.

Another great video, Anti-alising! The veilence jacket actually doesn't look too bad on the black outfit imo, the splash of colour brings a bit of life out, but maybe I'm also just weird. Speaking of weird pink, when I was in my wagie-nerd-white-collar era, I bought a pair of green chinos, and a pink cotton dress shirt (separately! I never wore them together). I dunno what I was thinking when I bought the chinos; I wear khaki and deep navy chinos and they go well with my black/white shirts, but green is just such a weird colour and I think I too got a bit of that "it's weird so it's good" line of thinking in me, never wore it more than a few times. The pink shirt, on the other hand, I have a love-hate relationship with. I was told by a lady friend of mine that pink would look good, and I just dived face first into that shirt. It does compliment my dull pants well, but that colour just look weird *on me*. I still have it in my closet, awaiting the day when I'm brave enough to be a turbonerd once again.

Regrets, I've had a few 😅 Picked up a couple of the M56 'Cyber' jackets and while I love the idea of them, I am far too old to be wearing them and they will hang on my clothes rail until I get around to eBay'ing them. Also I chased a pair of the 'big tech buckle' NIKE 'Kommuter' kicks in my size for ages, kept seeing reviews 'they do not fit well and are loose at the heel', thought 'Ah I'm sure they will be OK' and guess what? Yeah several sticky-in heel pads later I admitted defeat, they are in my shoe-stack looking unloved. Last one, the VOLLEBAK 'Indestructible' Dyneema jacket - it looks fantastic, but the fact its unlined and a single layer shell (of somewhat rough fabric) means you absolutely have to wear it over at least a longsleeve or a hoody, doubly irritating as their V2 of the piece dropped recently and this one is lined and could be work as a regular jacket.

The jacket would work instantly if you wore black boots or smart shoes with it imo

one of the easiest ways to shop is by knowing your measurements, the standard labels of size means nothing now a days so getting fitted helped me fit

I love it and do wear it sometimes, but it's SO LOUD that it need some mental preparing (it's also too hot for most of the Brazillian winter. Hahaha On a second note, would you consider making a video on glasses (sun or not) and technical clothing? I'm slowly moving towards it but I wear prescription glasses and haven't really found anything I think really matches the style. Thanks!

I have the exact same pair of rigards but in black. They are probably my favorite pair of eyewear I own. I never experienced any significant comfort issue but it does sit a lot more forward on my face more than other glasses since the arms are a bit shorter. Also it never falls off or anything so its fine by me. I added my prescription to these and couldn't be happier.

I see exactly what the problem is with the first fit. I have the Jordan 4's A Ma Manière which is basically the same colorway. I struggle a lot to wear them because they were too bright for my darker clothes and too tone down (dark) for my bright clothes. That violet ore is tricky. I now just end up wearing full black and let the shoes shine, and that works great ! Now that I see your jacket Im thinking maybe buying it to match the color of the shoes, but then again I feel matching 100% top and shoes seems too try hard for my liking

I wouldn't describe them as a waste or regret but the Geo Forma Boots from A_COLD_WALL and Converse are something that I just don't get much use from. I've gotten a pretty good amount of compliments on the days that they escape the closet, but they're just not very practical to wear unless it's a dry time in early spring or late fall. Your very first jacket and pants combo reminds me a lot actually of the A_COLD_WALL Irregular Dye overshirt and pants combo. With the current summer sale they've got on it I decided to pick the overshirt up. I think it's been a lot of fun to wear around, but the color is definitely something you gotta have confidence for.

I like to think I've gotten pretty good at knowing my tastes and the kind of group of things that I will wear, while also trying to branch out (hopefully through thrifting and not through full retail price items), but I definitely made a lot of mistakes on the way to this point. Probably the 2 trendiest items I've bought and regretted are New Balance 550's and Carhartt double knees, but the problem isn't necessarily that I bought into those trends at all; I still love Carhartt pants, but the pair that I got are in a dark brown color that I oddly can't match to much, and I'd like them much better in black. And as for the 550's, I still like the first few Aime Leon Dore pairs and the general release pairs with a similar color scheme, but because I didn't want to pay resale on those, I got myself a black and grey pair which just totally misses the mark for me. Besides that I've bought a few t-shirts from "IG brands" that I now consider a bit corny, and I have North Face Nupste puffer jacket that I don't love but just don't like/know many jackets in general so I can never figure out a better option before winter hits, and I just end up wearing the puffer again (I did previously have it in purple which I thankfully sold and got an all black one, realizing how much I want a jacket to go with everything). Like I said, thankfully I think I have a pretty good grasp on what I'll actually wear now (now to just find a jacket that I like lmao)

17:45 this is an excellent point I love Japanese and Italian brands however I’m 6’3, 240lbs (110 ish kilos), have a 44” chest and 26.5” thighs so the vast majority of that style of tailoring just isn’t going to flatter me. In a scenario where I want a particular piece so badly I am committed to buying (the Stone Island, iridescent Scarabeo parka from 2018 for a real example springs to mind) I will _always_ find a retailer and try the garment on before I purchase it, saved me so much hassle (especially with CP company 👍🏻) I know that it isn’t always practical or even possible to find a retailer for a lot of brands however I do still think it’s an excellent rule of thumb for purchasing the higher end items especially if you have a more irregular morphology.

For the glasses comfort you could go to any optician and they would heat the branches so it will fit you better (or give it to me pls)

interestingly enough I actually bought the Viridi-anne x Rigards sunglasses based on your video (i got the black frame ones) and I actually really enjoyed them, I got prescription for the glasses portion which I wear everyday and the sunglasses part while I use rarely it's still a really nice extra option for when you want to go out in sunglasses but don't want to be blind. I have a little bit of that sunglasses part issue similar to yours but not as bad, I think it would have helped if the sunglasses part was actually bigger than the glasses portion as opposed to the other way around... but yeah, still a nice buy, sad that it didn't fit you well though.

If I’m uncertain about an item I know I have to send it back. Also understanding what you like and sticking to it. I think one of my regrets is an Axel Arigato high top. It’s a bit too chunky and the shoe tends to pinch the top of my toes when I step. I thought it would get looser thenI’d wear them more. I didn’t. Once I bought the Rick Owens Comverse high tops it was over for the Axel Arigatos - now they just sit collecting dust. Also getting a black version of a shoe when I know damn well that I prefer white/off white shoes unless it’s a formal shoe/boot.

To solve the Veilance problem, I would've tried charcoal pants & a mid-gray shirt, or maybe a desaturated blue. Then the a pure black would be more of an accent (e.g. shoes). The right shade of khaki or olive would also work for the pants, and would support a white shoe as well. But then, I generally use technical clothing more as seasoning, so I don't have all-white/all-black wardrobe that tends to happen. As for the prompt: I have an issue with feeling almost obligated to buy *something* once I've put x amount of time into viewing a sale, so I have too many regrets to pick. But I do have a real saga involving some pants that I actually like: I first bought them as slightly dressy, lighter-weight summer pants, without considering that they were so suitable for summer that I could only wear them for a couple of months per year. Then I lost some weight, so I gave them away and bought another pair a size down. So now I'm at only about two dozen wears across two pair of pants. Then I put some weight back on, and just recently decided to pick up *two* new pair (original color plus a variant). Except they were only available 2" longer in the inseam than before, so they don't look as sharp when rolled up, and now I have to decide if I want to deal with tailoring.

In my opinion, the first jacket looks great on you when paired with black clothes. Something I regret purchasing are the Nike Overbreak x Undercover shoes. While I love them as objects, I feel they don't look good on me when I wear them and I end up feeling like Donald Duck.The sole is gigantic.

Especially if they have black in the pattern My recent regrets: trying to add a pastel mini wardrobe when i have a near 100% black and white closet with some burgundy and garash neon yellow. I now have an entire diy cardigan not made (i've never crochet before till this project too... So...) along with some fabric i have yet to decide what to do with... Also related to the above, adding cute gold jewelry when my stuff is usually silver... I have too many piercings to change them out from silver to gold like ever so they just sit around And two shoes from koi footwear... They were on sale, but duties ended up costing the same as the shoe. However, really what was bad is that the sandel broke in 10 min (yes I'm serious) and the white boots just had such a thin layer of paint it wore off leaving forever scuff marks. Quality makes the difference, especially in footwear

fit is important, i agree... buuut if you find a really good deal on a clothing item that you really really want and can't get otherwise (for example at the thrift or on sale), then i say it's still worth trying to see if you can work with it. either it's just a bit tight in some areas or it can be sewn to fit better. but obviously that will only work if you go 1 or 2 sizes up/down, if you straight up buy the wrong size you're just wasting money.

When I first started exploring techwear/streetwear/cyberpunk fashion several years ago, one of the most prominent styles I noticed (which I doubt anyone actually does irl) were branded socks pulled over tight joggers. I got this was intended to showcase the socks. And AOKU has socks I've definitely thought twice about buying. But ultimately I decided branded socks were just unnecessary - hardly anyone will ever notice the socks, much less care. If the branding is printed, of course it'll just wear and tear away in no time. And it just seems like a "cheap" look anyways... something only swagbois on Hypebeast might really dig. Much better to get all black GOOD quality socks - says much more and last much longer.

I slow impulse bought the acronym blazer sneakers after you showed them off because they visually clicked with me super well with no consideration for the clothes to go with it. I had zero skater fit clothes for it and one pair of pants now. It also took me years to break out the habit my parents set me in of buying big to be sure it fits and just wearing a belt. Know your measurements people, it’s better than winging it.

Ugh your 'Some things will just not fit you' comment just landed on my doorstep - a MAHARISHI Cordura Tech Travel shirt bought for a super discount in the sales, and in XL which usually does me fine - the arms are a perfect length, the chest fits perfect, but for some reason the shirt cut/fit has the _narrowest_ sleeve-to-body armhole I have ever worn, it's tucked *right* up in there and I just know wearing this for more than say 30mins it's going to be sweaty and stinking up in short order past anything deodorant can halt. FFS, looks fantastic, feels terrible. Back it goes I guess! 😠
