Cloud Time Lapse - Booming thermals!

The weather on this day was incredible for soaring. Very light wind, strong thermals and a very high cloudbase - around 12000ft!
Photos are taken every 2 seconds with a GoPro Hero 3 Silver and stitched at 30FPS. One minute of photos makes a second of video.
I use Adobe Lightroom to crop and give a small colour adjustment to all photos and export them at 1920x1080 resolution. This can also be done with Google's Picasa. From there, I used VirtualDub to stitch them together at 30FPS and exported using x265vfw

This looks like a great way of determining where local thermals are likely to be created... your other time-lapse vid shows similar thermal activity with different weather conditions. I'll have to give this a go on my farm!

+SagaSeaCraft I used to think so but in my experience I now think that with flatlands, everything is able to make a thermal. It's more a matter of being at the right place at the right time and being sensitive to the little hints the air gives you. I just fly over everything that might kick off a thermal and feel the drift as best I can. Anywhere where the terrain changes significantly (forests, mountains, etc), I reckon this works a bit better but in those cases, the thermals are pretty easy to find anyway :)
