The monster's name is Clover. Clover is just a confused baby who got lost and is running around scared and reacting to getting attacked. The little crabspider monsters are mites/fleas/lice that live on Clover.

I've heard that explanation here and there but if that's the case I can't really wrap my head around why it would decapitate the statue of liberty, leave it standing and yeet the head.

@@Lindeman08 Pretty sure he literally just scrabbled out of the ocean and whacked the head off of it and it went flying. I doubt there was a separate intentional throwing of the head. Maybe it attacked the statue because it thought it was some sort of enemy attacking it. Kinda doesn't matter. There are so many easy explanation options that you can just pick whatever.

This is a crazy rollercoaster ride of a movie! "Godzilla meets The Blair Witch Project." It was revealed that the monster, nicknamed Clover, is actually a juvenile, standing 150 tall, while the adults have said to be 300-400 ft tall, making them larger than what we see in the film. Clover is not a dangerous, but it's actually frightened of the unfamiliar environment and that humans see it as a threat. Its been confirmed that Clover is not from space, but from an alternate universe where more of its species live in an earth like environment. JJ Abrams said that "if you look at elephants, you'll see that they will attack a human without warning if that human gets too close, and that there is nothing more terrifying than a large animal in an unknown place, even its defensive, you have to watch out."

Trollhunter(2010) is probably one of the greatest found footage movies ever made and almost no one knows about it. If there's anyone here who has seen it, they can attest to how good it is. I don't think anyone is reacting to it though, sadly.

"They heard there was free food after 11." That was a great line J. I know that dude was carrying a camcorder and not one of those old cameras that you had to rest on your shoulder, those things were heavy. He would have dropped that camera quick, actually, he probably wouldn't have picked it up in the first place. Also, the batteries in the old cameras didn't last that long, you had to carry at least two.

My buddy worked on this movie! I remember that summer before it premiered we were all at a wedding trying to get him to reveal ANYTHING about the movie. I was convinced it was a new Godzilla film at the time. I wasn’t that far off!

You can see how this movie revitalized the kaiju genre. You can also see how movies like this and the Korean monster film "The HOST" influenced future kaiju movies. Oh just FYI... The main monster is *a baby* and the creatures that fell off of it were parasytes.

that is a GREAT idea! THE TWILIGHT ZONE episodes still hold up. it is still one of the most brilliant shows in the history of television. I think he would love them! and he could do 2 at a time if he feels they are too short. I love watching reactions to THE TWILIGHT ZONE episodes. and they are surprisingly under-represented with reactions on RU-vid. BLACK MIRROR would also be an excellent choice to react to. amazing series as well. I love this channel! thanks for posting.

So the small things coming off of the creature are basically it's own version of tics, fleas, but due to its makeup and them feeding on it.. they got...extra big. Marlena exploded, this is a guess.. is that the fleas have an extremely potent inflammatory agent in their saliva, necessary for them to feed on the creature.. but to a human it's basically overwhelming and makes them go POP.

I went to the first midnight showing of this, because I had no idea what it was about, other than scenes from a party that turned out to be the film itself. I THOUGHT IT was some ad that was playing before another film I'd gone to see. Loved it.

The marketing up to the realease of this movie was crazy. Nobody had any idea what was in the movie and speculation ran rampant. When the teaser dropped, (the scene with the Statue of Liberty's head) and the guy in shop says "it's alive" there were people who thought he said "it's a lion" leading others to think this was a Voltron movie.

Movies with huge monsters like this one lose impact when watching on a small screen. I loved this movie and have watched it several times. The great thing about it with things happening to the guy with the camera and his group of friends is that you feel like you are the person in the middle of this monstruous situation.

A monster movie where average people dont run around screaming like assholes and looking for the next death trap to throw themselves into. Where the government doesn't step up in a timely manner, so the people group up and fight the big bad monster together, united by a common purpose.

Hi! Again. This movie came out to the theater on my birthday January 18. Every time I watch this movie I need motion sickness pills for all the shaking going from the video camera. This is actually an account from people who went and saw this movie. Most said it made them real sick of squeeziness to the stomach and dizziness in the brain.

I thought this movie was kind of a mess the first time I saw it, but on subsequent viewings, I think it’s genius. It blends genres seamlessly by outright showing you the seams. They barely show and never “origin” the creature, adding mystery and suspense. There are secondary speed creatures that breed infection, an allegory to rage zombies. The military is causing just as much damage as the creature, so it’s almost an earthquake movie. The main romantic relationship fell apart, and we don’t really understand until the end where it could have gone. And the fact that it’s all a found footage movie that, at the time, seemed to be the characters’ inexplicably incessant need to document *everything* which is now ubiquitous in society. And how that footage is overwritten above their early relationship in bits and pieces- a metaphor itself for how that relationship is now.

Godzilla is a metaphor for the Japanese’ fear of nuclear bombing reoccurring. Cloverfield (the US version of Godzilla) is about our fear of 9/11 reoccurring.

I remember seeing this film in theaters the first day, it was funny seeing the news talk about people getting sick during the movie, and yet there I was just munching on popcorn and an icee. It was a fun movie, it's a smart move to let the monster not fully be explored, gives it more of a appreciation to it and the universe they tried to bring in to.

During the shot of the beach at the end there's something falling from the sky. That's a Japanese satellite falling to earth and when the Japanese country that is responsible goes down with submarines to investigate they awaken the monster.

Back when they had all the puzzles with advertising this movie, my absolute FAVOURITE theory was that it was a hardcore version of the Power Rangers. Dude is Jason? Red Ranger! They got the gals in there for yellow and pink rangers... Imagine they get out there, transform into some crazy suits and go battle this thing. I woulda been so here for it.

According to what I saw a couple of weeks ago, Cloverfield 2 must have taken place in Detroit. It looked as if they did that shit for real. No CGI whatsoever.

This movie is so good. At first, I thought it was real, because it feel like a documentary. By the way, 36:40 beach scene, it is very short and hard to see, something fall from sky land in the water. People think it is creature.

that exploding bit, has actually an interesting explanation. can't remember exactly, but as those lil pesky spiderthingys are like lice, they have something in their saliva that reacts voletaily. for clover, it will break open the skin so that they can drink se bluud, for humans, it'll make them pop like a firecracker.

The little things weren't the big monster's offspring.. they were like it's fleas. They are supposedly making a new movie with this monster in it that won't be a found footage movie.
