When I was a teenager, my parents and I lived in Clayton NM for 18 months. Very small town but I adored it. I didn't want to move back east when the parents did. After college, I relocated to Denver CO. I am more than ready to move one last time and it looks like Clovis offers what my husband and I need. I should mention that we're both introverts and I'm an ancient history/archeology buff.
I saw you when you took off. I was like, "Don't you want your receipt?". You just flipped me the bird and kept going. So I was like, "Take me with you." That's when you stopped, turned around, walked back up to me and said, "Do you know how ugly you are?". I go, "That's a great point you make. Have a safe journey."
It was great in the 70s dragging main street. Growing up here was safe. I married an airman, and we moved out of state. But my family still lives there.
My dad was stationed there from 89-99. I graduated from there in 96. Thank God, my parents were already living separate lives, so no I was only there the last 2 yrs, just to finish high school. I know some great ppl, but there ain't no way in hell I could stay there. I thought my dad would never get orders anywhere else. Finally he did just before 2000. I was already grown & gone lol.
@Hugo no I lived right across from Walmart in the “nice part” --it was horrible. The robbed ALL of the Air Force apartments, cars when we went to work. The whole town is fucking disgusting w weird looking people
It's gotten that bad? Dang. I was stationed at Cannon Aug 97- Oct 99. I lost my mind when I arrived there from Okinawa, Japan. Huge difference. NOTHING to do. Thank God I found a church & became friends with a few fellow airmen to hang with in the dorms, going to Taos, Lubbock & Albuquerque. The most exciting thing was going to party across the border in Mexico. Then we had a reality check when we were back on base. I got out of there doing a remote to Korea with help from one of the big wigs in my career field I met at my 94 graduation from tech school. Lord, sometimes my tour in Clovis runs through my mind & I just have to laugh. 😂
This is where I grew up. I used to tell myself it was a nice little city. But then I moved to California and some years later took a look at the city with these kinds of videos and thought.. wow, all of these homes are on the brink of collapsing. And everything is so short looking, no sky line. And random patches of dirt fields. These ages old towers..
Not the best place in the world. But not the worst by far. Lived here for a decade now since moving out to here from Victorville CA for a job. Experience has been mixed. Definitely a place to move to if one wants to "get on their feet" for the first time. Dad kicked me out of the house after too many years of merely "pissing away time" on fruitless/lackluster work endeavours. Made a random jab on the map and here I went. Only reason one should move is for the purpose of "trying a different place out" every 5-10 years. Of course with the insane housing/rental markets in larger cities at the moment, one may or may not be compelled to jump just yet.
I was born there and trust me I love my home town but its crazy like one time there were these kids who were breaking into peoples cars and there’s not a lot of homeless people but a lot of abandoned places there’s a lot of fights in the middle schools and high schools I know because my aunties used to go there coming home with crazy stories from their day Clovis is not a perfect place but it’s my home town ❤
We now have monthly meetings about the violence in our community (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ebwSxyrfeLY.html). Been there - done that (the library massacre). It doesn’t matter where you live. It’s f*ckin scary everywhere. At least I’m now a retired medical stoner and done give a sh*t. Cannabis - the go to/feel good medication for the modern day retirement community. I’m 65 and smoke that sh*t! And play video games. And mess around with expensive RC cars and trucks. I saved for this moment (with an investment fund and IRA) and I make more money sitting on my ass smoking dope than working my ass off. I’m doing what the young ones wish they could at 25. I was patient and I’m doing it at 65. Sixty years of retirement (if you retire in your 20s). Are you kidding me? The young ones you people brought up (I’m single to the day I die and richer than you) don’t have a clue about real life. They want to live the fictitious reality tv lives of the Kardashians. And eventually quit and move in with you. Yes I’m an assh*le. But I’m retired and it’s not my problem anymore
Stationed here in 2006 left in 2013. Clovis isn't the absolute worst town but then again I just traveled around the rest of NM the whole time I was there. Meth and other drug related crimes were a big problem
I was stationed there from 2005-2011...I hated every minute I lived there. Went back a few years ago while travelling across to AZ. Stopped at the base and just saw all the airmen looking so upset. I felt so bad for them. One guy asked why I stopped to look around and I was like sometimes you just gotta stare at that cat wreck bud.
I was curious what Clovis was like and watched your video. I know there are people that desire to live in a very small town, but I just can't see myself living in a small town such as Clovis, I would get way too bored.
As you grow older you will long for the slower pace of life . I couldn’t wait to move to the bright lights and big city . After 40 yrs my heart belongs to the small town pace of life .
I LOVE CLOVIS… California… I love living here in clovis California, I used to think that clovis NM was amazing but the comments make me think otherwise 💀
Same, learned how to smoke ribs and brisket, grilled the greatest rib eyes, and now I consider myself a master grilled haha. All thanks to cannon afb I don’t like big city living anymore.
Don't forgot the dips when it rain the place turns into a river car gets wash away nice goodwill Connie was very good to me but can't stand cats allergies it's nice town never felt comfortable there and the library is ok just can't breath need plants and ventilation system dusty too
@@anziyity dam yeah I remember that place it was trap a pit dudes were getting out early just to leave that place made me hate the Air Force couldn’t wait to get out
I miss it. I would move back tomorrow if I could. I will trade you and you complaining people can live in Memphis TN where you “Actually” have a chance of getting really murdered.
Clovis “ culture “ was in a TOEFL test … past paper . Hunting wooly mammoths back in the day etc ….. Possibly the first inhabitants of the Americas with their fierce some double edged spears . Bet it was way more exciting then … like Jurassic Park but with Mammoths n Ice n Snow . Awesome . Survival of the fattest ( Arf )
@Hugo your kids 🤣. Clovis is the worst place. Drugs and gangs drug attacks and murderers. The town is falling apart. They try to only fix the side of town by the base and Walmart. The rent is super high because of the base. Bad place for kids
I grew up in Clovis and still have family that lives there. You people are totally over exaggerating. Try living in Memphis (the 3rd worst city in America) then you can complain about not getting murdered.
