Costco have got lots of money to settle with. Whereas the smaller guys don't. Similarly with Costco being something like 30 times the size of TM (taken from another comment), I guess TM are worried Costco could flood the market with a range of iron models all at significant price advantage

Those cutaways did not look like they were built the same way... I saw a big difference in the build. There's only so much you can do to build an iron.. all of them are going to have some similarities.. I think this shouldn't even be a lawsuit.

Rick sheils compares these irons against the 790s,they are similar but some of the degrees of loft is either weaker or stronger as u move through the set. I think if I remember correctly ,the 790s we a little longer over all. Check out his review on his H. I. T. Channel..😊

I’m not a lawyer, but it seems like a stretch that TM could win this case. Just look at how many similar irons, drivers, wedges, putters, etc, are out there. Unless they are a carbon copy with the exact same substances, and the engineering is exactly the same, I don’t see it. I have not hit these irons as they are impossible to get in the US. When they came out, all these EBay people bought multiple sets and they are trying to sell them for double. Ridiculous. But for the weekend amateur, even if they are a little lacking in quality control, these are probably worth it. If a person is only playing about 40 or less times per year, why buy a $1500 set of irons? That’s just plain dumb. As far as Kirkland Golf stuff, they have good and bad. I can’t stand the balls. The gloves are great and inexpensive. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the irons, wedges, driver, and putter. Now maybe a seasoned golfer might notice some quality issues, but for the recreational golfer, who’s having to spend $75 to play a round of golf, having a choice to get a decent product and not break the bank, is a welcome thing. If golf continues to be more expensive, the game is going to go back to being an elite-only activity, like it was years ago. Is that what we really want?

I totally agree. Kirkland is disrupting Taylormade's business and Taylormade is throwing a tantrum. Why isn't Taylormade suing other golf companies and only Costco? They are mad because Costco is selling them so cheap. Sounds to me like we are seeing price fixing in the golf club industry. Class action lawsuit anyone?

Hey Man, love your content. I've been working on my own clubs and friends and families clubs for many years and can build any golf club with the accuracy of a tour van with the $300 worth of equipment in my garage. The only thing you mentioned about the possible issues with these clubs is the set up (loft, lie, length, swingweight) and maybe the shafts and grips. But that is any clubs. If you are a good golfer you are going to order all that custom anyway and those things can be dialed in on these clubs too. Any clubs will likely need the lofts adjusted for proper gapping and the lie angles dialed in for the individual golfer and lead tape is a golfer' best friend. That's the same with a name brand set. With a name brand set, my Dynamic Gold Tour Issues are a $35 up charge per club anyway. Other than minor adjustments what could be wrong with them? They are a lump of metal on the end of a metal stick with a rubber handle. Not every golf club is for every player anyway, so some may like these and some may not, just as a matter of preference. These are probably made in the same Chinese factory as the Taylormade irons, who knows. But Taylormade is and elite company that wants to charge a fortune so they can afford to pay their tour players to sell them on TV each week and Kirkland likes to offer value to their customers. Do a putter set up review. I recently bought a 2024 Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 putter with a swing weight of E1. My Newport 2 has a swing weight of D7. I'm getting used to it but I'm still undecided on such a heavy head and wonder why such an extremely heavy swing weight. But I heard Rory's Spider Tour is E3. I tried the Spider Tour at the golf shop and it wasn't E3 or even E1. I'm guessing it was D5-D7. I have a friend that is the golf shaft designer for a major brand of golf shafts. I still want to hear his take on the putter swing weight but I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet. I'd like to see your video on that and then compare notes after I talk to him.

Interesting discussion Alex. Some years ago I was talking to a friend and wondering what happened to Adam's Golf, he told me that Adams had invented the speed slot and Taylirmade copied it and to avoid a threatened law suit Taylormade bought Adams out. If that is true it is somewhat hypocritical of Taylormade to sue Costco for producing a similar looking iron. There are also a number of other companies that produce similar looking hollow body irons so I wonder why Taylormade have only singled out Costco.

The problem isn't that COSTCO is too cheap (thereby sacrificing QC or consistency), its that the pricing set by the big equipment makers is too expensive. I work with factories who cast and forge very precise parts (we're talking about tolerances in the microns) and you would surprised how INEXPENSIVE it is to cast/forge + finish a part ONCE the tooling/mold is done. Once the finished part is completed, they are usually checked to a precisely made fixture to ensure compliance. Its a very profitable industry if you are successful at marketing your products.

That’s the bottom line. I used to golf when I was kid through my early 20’s. My swing isn’t trash and fairly natural for someone who learned as a junior. I’m 45 now, and just started playing again the last couple years. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to jump into a fitting and needed something to get me excited about playing again. I had an older set of Taylormade R7’s and when I saw the KSig irons, I caught them online and grabbed a set. They feel so nice when you get a good strike. They’ll piss ya off when you miss hit, but overall, it’s made me focus on my swing again and I couldn’t be happier with them. Im excited about golf again. Mission accomplished

The top dogs will never lower their prices like the one reviewer questioned. They don’t need too, because they are well established, and people will pay the prices. As for buying the Kirkland, I personally wouldn’t. I play the ‘23 p790 and love them. My next set will likely be the p770 or whatever equivalent they have at the time. However if I were to dip into that money conscious iron set, I’m not even considering Kirkland when I can get the Takomo irons. They have tons of feedback and come in at a good price. I wouldn’t mind trying the 201 model

Hi Alex, I’m not 100% sure, but I believe I heard when Taylormade brought out the P790. There was a law suite against Taylormade for infringing on a patent of PXG. The law suite went away,so I . imagine Taylormade wrote a big check. Maybe something you could look into, for curiosity sake.

Not an expert but didn't have the same issues with the golf balls. I'm sure Costco doesn't want to take an L on any of its product's but Im sure they are not too concerned about Taylormade bringing a lawsuit. To the issue of price there are alot of new companies building some really good equipment you just have to do your homework. The big names are taking the little guy out the game. Cheers

Why driver, driver? You are testing irons and you spoke about “gapping”. That would have been a great opportunity to hit back to back different irons into that par 5 to test your earlier gapping comment. Who cares if they are a little “shorter” than 790s. As long as the gapping is consistent, they are solid irons. Higher ball flight, check. Higher spinning, check. Consistent gapping??? Just my $0.02. Keep up the great content, sir.

My understanding (from reading other views and from friends who have used them) is that the rest of the KS range is all aimed at a fat part of the bell curve regarding player skill, with forgiveness being a noticeable factor. 80-90% of the subjective performance for 50% of the cost. The irons are far less approachable than the wedges or driver. They are serious muscle backs that need a high swing speed and an accurate strike to perform well. The player who could take advantage of the driver and wedges wouldn't have the skill to make the best use of the irons. Just my limited understanding, so take it with a heaping pile of salt.

You didn’t do a great job of analyzing when reviewers are bringing up basic things like distances between Kirkland irons and jpx 923s, the obvious answer is his 923s have stronger lofts, easily accounting for the distance loss, and you should’ve brought that up. Otherwise all you’re doing is just repeating was repeating reviews and it’s totally uninteresting.
