It's so funny to me that he asked a group of people that included RuPaul if they could do this in 20 years... I've known of RuPaul for over 20 years and today was the first time I knew anything about this Richard Bey... #Truth
James St James? What has he done since his book? And Amanda Lepore? What has she ever done after the Limelight was closed besides make her face look hideous
caesar349 uhhh she’s released successful records, performs live, and even gets paid thousands and thousands of dollars just to appear at a club for one night. I can guarantee she makes 500x more money than you do 😂 And James st James still writes. In fact he published a book called “freak show” a few years ago that has now been turned into a successful movie with a very great cast. Your jealousy is showing, Dear.
"But what about when you're older?" RuPaul: multimillionaire entertainer JSJ: successful author and blogger for... Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato: wealthy television producers Larry T: successful DJ Amanda Lepore: pioneer trans model and still in nightlife Ernie Glam: successful writing career, happily married Jennytalia: runs a center for at risk youth Etc etc etc. Poor Michael was the exception to the rule. :(
On a serious note, there's a comment below in which a viewer stated it made them very uncomfortable to see them treated this way. It's so, so important that every one of us remember this wasn't so long ago. There was a time when RuPaul didn't have his ass kissed by everyone in Hollywood - he was an unemployed club kid living out of a ramshackle house and VERY few people took him seriously. With the exception of those on this stage that were involved with high crimes and a very publicized murder, there's more than one person here that did break through those boundaries...and episodes like this were a lifeline to kids in the Midwest who felt like no one in the world was like them. The real difference between RuPaul and Michael Alig? RuPaul paid attention and took in the response to everything he said. He was more intelligent and (most of the time - I think he'd disown this clip in particular) sounded very articulate. Just by being on that dais, they had more of an impact than they'll ever fully grasp, but the most disarming thing any of them could wield was their intelligence and proving they weren't just capable of spewing catty barbs and spoiled-brat quips meant to shock.
+Mark Alexander He's doing just fine. We are building a production company to make and distribute all of our movies, reality shows, videos, documentaries and talk shows, and we are considering hiring Richard Bey to clean the bathrooms...
RuPaul ordering everyone in America to "go out and buy some Ecstasy RIGHT NOW?" (7:56) How has his empire not destroyed every trace of this broadcast? If only for the fact that he clearly didn't get the laugh or the applause he'd anticipated?
Peeew! Is it also not related to *ALLEDGED!!* (...😁😉) drug use? It can't just be champagne that has her feeling the way she seems to be for all these years. Idk, I just wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if she is a pill popper (*ALLEDGEDLY!!* /alert/) and downers are her loves. The fun 'Opiates and Benzos and Champagne Diet!' 💊🍷♥👍👠💄🎉
According to Michael and Ernie Ananda was VERY nervous to be on tv. Like she was shaking. When they were on another show (Donahue?) she almost left she was so scared. Michael and James gave Amanda “lines” and NOT drugs. Actual lines she would repeat when she was asked questions so she could just repeat them. “All the men want me.” Shit like that. Michael told her to act like Monroe or Mansfield. She is likely doing that and I wouldn’t be surprised if she had something to calm her down but I don’t know. Some of them used before they went on but most didn’t. But, yea, she was scared to death to be on the shows.
Omg I freaking love her in that movie! That is awesome that she was there to see y'all. I never heard of this show, was it like a national show or local???
You were all such strong individuals! I don't know if I would have been able to keep my composure with that arrogant audience lol! What close minded assholes! Love all of you and everything you guys stand for!
I am just going to say it: If RuPaul had not had his chat-topping hit, he NEVER would have become famous, as he did. He worked very hard, to get to where he is, but in that world of cross-dressing, there really is no "future", for the vast majority.
