November, 1987... I was in my senior year of hs dating my first love when this aired! No internet... no cell phones... I only had one friend with a computer. We didn't even have CallerID yet on our landlines... if you wanted to meet people, you had to go out! For young people my age, we had the malls and dry clubs - great music, most of my peers danced.

You go to a club these days everyone is holding the wall up, mean mugging and hating. If you were to try and dance like this and have a good time, mf'ers would just laugh and clown you. Man I miss America. I don't know wtf it is that we've become. It's a disgrace to say the very least.

Nostalgic but also frustrating. This was a great period for music and fashion, though not entirely of course, but the constant push for trend changes was true back then too and within a few years, the trends were drastically different. You can see it on this youtube channel with the mid to late 90s videos comparing them to the 87-90 ones. Besides that, I also like how people dance together and not at a DJ unlike now and that people are dancing to songs that don't have pounding bass in them. Those types of dance songs have become the norm for clubs or anywhere dance music is played so anything less really throws people off.

I remember being in the 6th grade when I heard and saw Taylor Dane. I had a mad crush on her but wouldn’t dare say anything about it because I was afraid of expressing my feelings about the same sex. I didn’t comfortably come out until I graduated high school and left town.

i actually love this because it is just a regular teen dance show, i was in high school at this time and this was not my crowd but this is a bunch of teens just dancing and having fun. right before this i watched an episode from 1990 which is actually the year i graduated, but the audience felt much more adult and far more overtly sexualized and skimpy outfits and dudes that look 36 showing their abs and trying to dance with 20 something women. i dont know it just had much more of a meat market feel to it, i miss more innocent teen spaces. let the kids be kids while they can.
