It’s not a Nintendo game if the online multiplayer doesn’t do questionable things

100% agree with the weird player limitations.

I hope they will release an update to let me play bowling and other games with 4 people. Kind of defeats the purpose why I wanted this game.

I totally get wanting bowling, golf, darts, Chinese checkers and a few others to be 4 players, they should totally fix that. But most of these games are just inherently 2 player by design and have been for hundreds of years.

Good review. Personally I don’t see clubhouse games as a party game. I’d much rather play Mario kart or smash if I have multiple friends over. To me, clubhouse games is a road trip/plane ride game. For that, the lack of 3-4 person multiplayer isn’t much of an issue.

I hope Nintendo patches Bowling and Darts so you can play with four players.

nintendo has a phone app. why can't they use that as a substitute screen for multiplayer cards games using just a single switch?

Wondering if I should pick this up I’m generally a pretty lonely gamer, but my little sister joins in from time to time. I think I’d enjoy this, but I do wish I could play more games with 4 players.

Well I play these kinds of games alone so this sounds like a winner to me.

Nintendo really cannot nail anything multiplayer recently. There is always this HUGE cons list that overthrow the Pros list out of the park. Always. Even flagship multiplayer games like Mario Kart 8 deluxe, Smash Ultimate and Mario Party have this questionable amount of frustrating things in their online design that...shouldn't be there in such multiplayer focused games! I was leaning on buying this game for me and my daughter and occasional future gathering but seeing how much flaws there is past 2 players, I'm sorry but I'll pass. Great review, loved your explanation and wording.

In other words, it’s good for 2 players? Sounds like a good choice for me for when my little niece visits. As for parties, I’ll stick to Jackbox.

Sorry if this has been answered or if I simply misunderstood, but are any of the games limited to switch orientation - basically, can I play all of the games docked from my tv?

I play the ds game with my girlfriend sometimes. Most if the games support 4 players or more. It was also online and I remember playing with no issues. Odd how they couldn't figure this time.

The Guest Pass is honestly a game changer. It opens up a ton of the card games which are all pretty fun and you only need one full copy to do it.

My ultimate wish is still for _Wii Sports Switch_ though still looking at this for some other interesting games. I'm thinking the Switch screen is a bit too small to realistically play laying flat on a table. Can anyone comment on how the Switch screen size effects the gameplay?

I’ve been playing the game for about 10 hours now and been having a lot of fun with it, the voice acting is horrendous though, I honestly would’ve had the tutorials without them

Good review - but was hoping to hear you acknowledge/reference that this is a follow-up to a 2006 DS game. The original Clubhouse Games has 42 games. Would have been helpful to know 1. whether any games were dropped from that original collection - and 2. if the Switch version of those games had any tweaks to improve game play.

What I would like to see in a future update is Pokemon style cards. It would take me back to my childhood when I had a custom solitaire where the non-number cards had Pokemon on them.

Me: Why so little content for larger groups? Nintendo: We couldn't imagine you having more than one friend.

When people look back at this game they're gonna say oh it was made around quarantine time 😒 why isn't Nintendo serious about bringing back old school games people want or fixing the whole mic situation instead of using a third party app.

I definitely like this review. Very clear and concise. As much as this game would be appealing for me, I have some problems with it myself. There is the multiplayer limitations like you said earlier. Also, for a game about classic games, a lot of the classics are just straight up missing. Like bingo, crokinole, scrabble, rps, spades, go fish, battleship, etc. Even the games that are here I have some problems with. Why is toy football this not fun mess instead of foosball? Why is slot cars not available online? Why are there only 3 tracks? Why can't we make our own tracks? Why aren't there different vehicle options? Why is it limited to two players? Why is gomoku in the game but the original go isn't? Who in the hell came up with the rules for war? What's up with the betting system in blackjack and poker? Things like that. Other than that though, this game is very well constructed and well executed for the most part. These are just a few gripes that a few other people and I have that we hope nintendo will fix in the future

Wonder how it functions on the Switch Lite, since there are no detachable Joy-Cons. Would the game still be worth it?

I hope they will release a patch where you aren't forced to use joy cons in local multiplayer and where more games are available in 3 and 4 player local play, then I will buy the game

If you are looking for the app that will have you do local play then all you need to do is to download the demo version of the game and that is how you do local play.

I plan on getting this on day 1. It will be mainly me alone or playing with my kid so this works out. And it would be awesome if Nintendo does update it in the future to improve the multiplayer issues. Plus if they want to add more games as DLC (paid or free) that would be cool too.

Was kinda hoping you'd go through each of the games individually and talk about their quality. Or at least a few of them. A majority of the video was complaining about the multiplayer and online. Which is important, sure, but I was hoping to hear more.

Haven’t finished the review and am unsure if this is answered. Due to my lack of research and based off pictures of the game I thought this would work on the switch lite 2 player Is that not possible??

My right joycon only works when paired with the left one. Considering that I can only use one of my joycons by itself, how many games am I able to play locally with another person using touchscreen only? (since the game doesn't support pro controller for local multiplayer). Thanks

I'd give it 6 out of 10. I'd wish they had games like Jarmo, Senet, Chaturanga and Jungle (Chinese ). Quoridor and the other branch of games associated with it. I'm nitpicky but I do like what it has. I wish you could turn off the background music on some of these games and choose a level settings. Also customize the boards and view angles.

Shame about the limitations. As soon as I saw this I thought of playing with my friends who moved out of state. They love tabletop games.

How many of the games can be played with traditional buttons? I don’t wanna play anything that requires me to touch the screen.

And, not gonna lie, four players should be able to play a two player game, with two spectators. Some games can literally just be open to all 4 and I don’t get why they aren’t (Hares and Hounds, Matching, Pig’s Tail, etc.) but a spectate option would go the extra mile and say “we kinda tried this time.”

All I care to know is if I can play President/Tycoon/Daifugo and the other card games online because P5R had me HOOKED and I’m dying to actually play with friends online

Played the original on the DS like crazy and that’s only like 5 games and this has 51. Classic Mahjong here I come. I love that you get a digital version free for multiplayers.

I think the problem with doing more players on something like Golf or bowling is that a single Joycon is HALF of a controller, unlike the Wii where every player had a full controller. So two players can each use a half. Am I wrong? If you have 4 joycons, can the switch treat them as 4 separate controllers? Also I hope you can play every game in every controller setting. If not, I hope they update it. I always loved how Brawl on the Wii could be played with a single Wii controller, Wii+nunchuck, gamecube controller, Classic Console controller, or anything else. Considering Many people might own a few controller variations rather than a ton of joy cons (I have the joycons that came with it plus one pro-controller), I think it would be idea if you can have everyone play using whatever you have.
