I'm not big on posting comments, but I have to say this and I feel like it gets lost in everything. Obviously I'm white, I grew up mostly on metal, punk and heavy stuff. The eminem wave was so big when I was like 13-14 that I gave it a listen, and got me into rap and hip hop, which also means it got me into a lot of artists who happen to be black. And I know I'm not the only case of someone who may or may not have ever gotten into hip hop if eminem never emerged.
