Okay, so let's just keep rap in the boroughs here in NYC, no white record producers, no stretch and bobbito, no rick rubin, no beasties (which Ad Rock listened to 16 year old LL Cool J's tape and that's how he got put on). No commercialization. No corny beat street or wildstyle (fab for those outside of NYC, but was corny to us... light version, but on the map). Do you think, without those young brothers wanting the bag, whether ripped off due to not knowing the business (includes the starting black labels), going to white and jewish individuals this thing of ours would be this big? Are you seriously trying to tell me brothers didn't get a bigger bag and get to travel the world by spreading it to other audiences? Hell, blacks and blues/jazz stayed local and wasn't appreciated by whites, they couldn't stop in towns, had to go in back entrances, couldn't use the bathroom go they went to Europe... and guess what. But um, not really. Most the stuff he said that was a “Fact” was wrong, and the rest of what he said was opinion, an opinion that just about everyone in the room who’s also in the culture disagreed with, generally for factual reasons.
