I just watched all the episodes for the first time in the last two days and a lot of them with some celebrities were fantastic and ppl on the comment section loved the guests too, I think it has more to do with which celebrity they pick.

There is a better chemistry and dynamic with Aaron and Conan because they contrast each other so much. Aaron is knowledgeable about the games and brings that aspect to the segment. It also gives Conan a punching bag which can be quite hilarious. Make Clueless Gamer Great Again! Bring back Aaron!

The producers work for Conan as it's his production company (Conaco) that runs the show. While the series was funnier when it was just Aaron and Conan, the segment probably makes more money with celebrities. So for that reason it's doubtful they will go back to the original format.

That's the whole point of this clip, that's the joke, Upton had to play being so over it for the premise to work. Most of his videos have decent like/dislike ratios. This is one of a few that has a lot of dislikes, and to be fair, it's one of the weaker episodes. People tend to not like episodes that are more about the celebrity guest than the game, and there was no focus on the game at all in this one. For me the series is funniest when it's about Conan (a non-gamer) attempting to play video games and his entertaining reactions and observations about them.

This kind of improv thing they're doing doesn't really work like this. Either both have to be good at it, Conan is but Kate isn't, or the one that isn't good has to be kind of a stand-in for the audience for it to work. If she was doing this blind and they recorded her honest reactions, at most gave her the hint to play along but nothing about how she should react or what's happening, the bit would have been 100 times funnier.
