You can see the moment where he realizes he's backed himself into a corner and can't get out And you can also see the moment Conan realizes the same thing
I just started watching Conan on YT recently and Jordan will stay with me forever for sure. Lmao, first time I saw him mentioned, staff members were pointing him as the person Conan should fire, and I had no context as to why him. I should watch this video again now:D
Are you ppl serious? He's playing a funny caricature / parody of himself.. How the hell are you ppl in youtube comments so young/socially inexperienced that even these clips weren't enough to make you understand this improv act? It wouldn't even be funny from start to finish if Jordan didn't know what he was doing, and he wouldn't be part of the production team of the Conan show if he was really oblivious to comedy as his character pretends to be. I shouldn't even have to make these points though, the intentions behind this should be crystal clear just from watching it, even more so from watching these moments where he broke character but they had to leave it in because it was so funny.
@@HOTD108_ Introverts tend to think ahead when speaking. So when telling a shitty joke, midway through the joke we think about the punchline, which causes us to crack up laughing before actually saying it.
I love the wine tasting bit, it’s so impressively well constructed, and when Jordan breaks you get a nice peak behind the scenes - let the professional wine taster show her skills - Jordan, the pretentious character, tries to contradict her with bs so that Conan can argue with him in favor of the professional - Jordan, the real person, can’t handle his own joke and starts to crack, and locks eyes with Conan, hoping Conan can help save him - Conan stays in character and doesn’t help Jordan get back on track, forcing Jordan to double down - Conan breaks with Jordan as the joke spirals - The Wine Taster, who understands what is going on but isn’t a comedian, tries to help Jordan, making him laugh harder Etc Idk, just wanted to get that out of my brain
It's also worth noting they answered in a Q&A that the wine taster had no idea they were comedians and actually got concerned that they were genuinely upset with one another.
@@Cottagegay Yeah. I read that she stopped the filming and said "this is madness". Something got lost in translation and she thought they were filming a travel show, not a comedy show. She was concerned about the image of the vinyard. Once things were explained, filming continued.
The clearest “break” of character was in one of their early sketches when Conan walked into his office ahead of the camera crew coming round the corner and Jordan did a really friendly “hey” then it hard cut to him being deadpan character when the camera crew was in with them. (Think it was the coffee machine one)
@@spacerboi just checked, it's the coffee machine one. He does "hey!" Then double takes the camera and it cuts to him standing with a dead pan reaction next to conan hahah
Also when he and Conan are shopping for western gear. At the very end he's shown walking and his cowboy hat blows off and he laughs trying to chase it.
I think Jordan cracks up so much on this trip to Italy bc he is genuinely so giddy to be in his favourite place with Conan and he can’t contain his enjoyment. :)
The correct iteration of this, Jordan : “… and uhhh right now I smell a forest.” Jordan’s inner dialogue : “the bell did I just say? What kind of nonsensical human soil was that?” Lol
I can tell these two are great friends. They can shit talk each other so much, and always come out the other side with a laugh. They're total opposites, like two aliens who grew up millions of light years away from each other, trying to adapt to one another's behaviors, and somehow always seem to make it work out.
The irony is whenever he breaks character he starts calling Conan stupid while Conan is doing nothing stupid at that time and stays calm whenever he is in his character despite Conan doing the stupidest thing ever.
I mean the man has a point no? 😂 I love how he can find the ridiculousness of HOW hes explaining it, but at the end of the day hes right and Conan is responding with jokes becausw thats the only way he knows how to
It also seems like Conan uses it as a bit in itself. If Conan cracks up with him, Jordan doesn't look "crazy" it's just two dudes laughing together. Conan staying serious almost makes Jordan laughing at Conan seem more absurd. Kinda brilliant really.
Wait, you're saying Conan is being calm in those instances when Jordan laughs, yet that "being in character and calm" for Conan means doing stupid things, but those things don't seem stupid because Conan is doing them while in character?
Snow A government can write any law they want to... but they can’t change TRUTH. The truth is that marriage, by definition, is only between one man and one woman, for life. No divorce & remarriage. People of the same sex can call their relationship and behavior whatever they want, and the government can even support it, but they can NEVER be married. Never. It’s not possible.
@@DukeOfEarl88 lmao okay dude stay ignorant... Like Martin Luther King Jr. Said; “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” and you sir, whether intentionally or not, are conveying both. Not that I don't agree with the point about sexualizing and fetishizing same-sex relationships, it's unneeded, but it happens. Despite this, it's nearly 2020 and you sound like you've been frozen for 50 years... There's no point in denying change such as this, change is one of the few things in life that are certain, and pushing it further away will just waste everyone's time. Stop being ignorant. Learn about your own motivations and prejudices, and then return and think about why you feel the need to be so uneducated about these kind of matters. Also haha what an awkward thing to put in at the end of a really reasonable comment "and by the way...", it sounds like you're trolling so evaluate your choices, create a little more positivity each day, instead of dragging others down for the appeasement of your own self-consciousness.
but not all at once. Usually he would show the occasional bit of emotion on the occasional video but the trip to italy nearly had him laughing in every video.
Does anyone else notice how much Conan absolutely LOVES Jordan? Like even though he bullies him (playfully), he genuinely likes being around him. These 2 put together are amazing. Conan has an outgoing, live personality, while Jordan is rather dull and straight. Brilliant.
Yeah I think he's playing an exaggerated character of himself, but he's comfortable in front of a camera and vibes with Conan a ton. Conan's reactions are like half the act
he's not 'breaking character' he's just smiling. he's not pretending to be some character. he's just asperbergers as shit. The guy who titled this video is a dipshit.
@@stewie50001 Conan has said 1000 times on and off air that Jordan is not playing a character. He sometimes exaggerates himself, but he's not pretending.
I wanna make a movie called "The Schlansky Paradox" where he sits on a stool at a bar in a restaurant and just occasionally smiles while looking directly at the camera.
Some people complain that, “He’s just playing a character, that’s not how he really is.” But idgaf because I love this character that’s just an extreme version of his actual self. He’s comedy gold
The beauty of Jordan Schlansky is that he's only *half* playing a character. Part of it is really him. That's why it works so well. That or he's genuinely the most committed method actor in history.
You can tell they’re close friends and their extreme introvert/extrovert personalities for these remotes makes it even better. I can imagine their behind the scene friendship is some next level bromance
@anonym S 1:28 & 1:31 Jordan trying to hold his laughter with an unavoidable smile from what he just said (and Conan's comedic silence), and eventually cracking up when the lady gave a serious response; 2:54 Jordan's still laughing when it cuts here, meaning he usually laughs as soon as the camera cuts; 3:36 Couldn't help but laugh at that ticket smelling bit, tried to cover it with the ticket at first but gave up since he was laughing too hard; 4:16 Constantly holding a smile; 5:20 Finally can't hold any more laughter and brings it all out involuntarily, as we all often do, even those who are really well trained in holding laugher, such as Conan and Jordan; 6:00 Almost bursted out laughing at Conan's joke right before saying his response, which ofc was a killer so he couldn't help it (and Conan had to laugh as well, although he stuck to the bit&character afterwards, much like Jordan usually does [A basic rule of improv]). From here on he just found this bit so funny that he couldn't stick to character until the very end of the clip.
@@lotaryguy12 you just pointed out things which are clearly seen in the video and are also highlighted the title which leads you to expect him to laugh and makes you notice it more easily.
Jordan is definitely weird, but he plays an extreme characterized version of himself usually on camera. It's nice to see him break that character and be real, which is still weird, and I get why Conan likes him.
I love it that Jordan cracks up about the strangest things. His whole deal is that he doesn't crack up, but when he does, it's kinda still in character as he cracks up when talking about bidets and human feces :)
He's laughing specifically because it's a strange thing. He's playing a character and when he realizes he's said shit that's beyond insane for even his own character he finds it funny.
Him laughing reminds of that dinner table scene in A.I, his timing is about as appropriate. I wonder if Conan kept the receipt so he can return him back to the factory.
he was actually cracking up trying to explain himself. That's like the peak of laughter anyone could ever amount to yet Conan was calling him crazy because he saw he was actually having fun
Jordan actually makes me laugh, out loud. I almost soiled right outta my ass laughing at the dude. Been loving these skits for YEARS and finally...he's a smiling little bastard. Bless
Here's the most important life lesson of all life lessons: Don't be concerned with being a big deal, be concerned with having a good meal. Don't care if you're a big deal, a little deal, a medium deal. A neutral deal. Just go eat a good meal.
I really love it when these 2 are together hahaha, they actually seem like they cannot stand each other, to the point where you don't really know if they're really acting.
The Legend Jordan Schlansky never breaks character. He merely enters a state of extreme performance that may make it seem like some form of facade has been removed. Neigh, he has merely embodied the pinnacle of flow state.
