He's considered by many to be the 2nd best receiver of all-time behind Jerry Rice. He's 4th all-time in receiving yards and 2nd in receiving tds. His combo of size and speed for a receiver, to go with his amazing receiving skills, is almost unmatched in history. And he's so good that his name has been made into a verb: to get "Moss'd" means that one or more defensive backs get outjumped/outfought for the ball by a receiver.

If you are judging By talent+ stats+ work ethic, You may be correct. But, if you are judging on talent alone...Moss KILLS it! Randy Moss actually changed the NFL. Before Randy, an NFL team drafted cornerbacks that were somewhere between 5'9" and 6' that were fast- for decades- Randy changed what an NFL corner had to be. Neither Rice or Owens can say that!
@darchon5
@darchon5 5 лет назад
@@0612409 I agree. But yes, I think when talking GOATs, you can't just judge on talent alone, otherwise many guys could be up there at many positions. It's talent, stats, work ethic, & longevity (as in, consistent, sustained high level of excellence/production over a long time). And most all football people rank Rice #1. Plus, you have to consider that the NFL was gradually becoming more of a passing league between Rice's and Moss' heyday. If Rice played his peak years at same time as Moss, his stats would be even crazier (ie, in the 2000s instead of 80s & early 90s). Having said all that, I personally would take Moss. As you said, he changed the nfl like no other receiver before or since. He's pretty much perfect in every area except for work ethic and attitude at times.

Rice was great but he played much longer than Moss. But comparing Rice and Moss in their prime years, Moss was a better wide receiver hands down.
@darchon5
@darchon5 5 лет назад
@@JamesSmith-kn3vs An argument could be made for Moss over Rice in their primes, but it's not easy to declare Moss was better "hands down". And longevity shouldn't just be dismissed so easily when Rice's excellence extended for more years than almost any other receiver. Let's look at their numbers by seasons, not raw totals, so it's a more fair comparison. It's tough to define prime years, but coincidentally, both of their best stretches were during their 1st 12 seasons. I will list their 1st 12, and what happened after that, but first, to approximate their absolute best prime years, let's compare their 6 best yrs - they each had 6 that stood out above the others, and their best yr. I'll also list raw numbers from each of their top 2 seasons: Rice (1986, 1989-90, 1993-95): 6 Pro Bowls, 6 1st team All-Pros, 6 seasons of 1483+ yds, 13+ tds, & 82+ catches Rice's 2 best seasons: - 1995: 122 catches for 1848 yds, 15 td, 15.1 yds/catch, 115.5 yds/game - 1986: 86 for 1570, 15 td, 18.3 yds/catch, 98.1 yds/gm Moss (1998-2000, 2002-03, 2007): 6 Pro Bowls, 4 1st team All-Pros, 6 seasons of 1313+ yds, 7+ tds, & 69+ catches Moss' 2 best seasons: - 2003: 111 for 1632, 17 td, 14.7 yds/catch, 102.0 yds/gm - 2007: 98 for 1493, 23 td, 15.2 yds/catch, 93.3 yds/gm In their 1st 12 regular seasons: - Rice: 11 Pro Bowls, 10 1st team All-Pros, 11 seasons of 1000+ yds, 9 seasons of 10+ tds, 4 seasons with 100+ catches. - Rice had 18 tds in 21 playoff games during this time. - Moss: 6 Pro Bowls, 4 1st team All-Pros, 10 seasons of 1000+ yds, 9 seasons of 10+ tds, 2 seasons with 100+ catches. - Moss had 10 tds in 12 playoff games during this time. After their 1st 12 seasons: - Rice played 8 more seasons (with 3 different teams), with 2 more Pro Bowls and 3 more 1000+ yd seasons. - Moss played 2 more seasons, only starting 13 of his 32 games played. In these 2 yrs (with 4 different teams), he only had totals of: 827 yds, 8 tds, 56 catches. Rice still had better numbers on average during their prime years, but he was usually on much better teams and had much, much better qbs throwing to him. I think that Moss had better ball skills, and he was also bigger and faster. I'd personally take Moss in his prime.

They called Randy Moss "The Freak" because he's 6'4", 210 lbs, ran like 4.25 40 yard dash (which is exceptionally fast), crazy athleticism, and hands that could grab passes (especially in traffic as you saw). He was always fun to watch. 2 recurrent request that I'm seeing that I would love to see also are Bo Jackson and Calvin "Megatron" Johnson. One that I would request is old school (I saw the one that you did on Walter Payton) . If you liked watching "Beast Mode" Marshawn Lynch I think that you would enjoy Earl Campbell. I think I'm officially hooked now. Keep it up.

If you want to know how Randy Moss ended with 3 teams in the same season I will explain. When he was in New England I believe that he started bad mouthing coaches and players then got traded to the Vikings. Now here is where it really gets interesting. I don't think he lasted two weeks in Minnesota that season because before a game a local Minneapolis restaurant provided the Vikings pregame meal. Randy Moss was dissatisfied at the meal and went on a locker tirade about how bad the food was and that was overheard by the owners of the restaurant. Randy Moss reportedly said "I wouldn't feed this shit to my dog." Randy skills had already declined by then and he was getting old so the Vikings felt no need to keep him especially since he insulted a local restaurant that had provided pregame meal to the team for years. Randy Moss is a once in a lifetime talent but the reason he bounced from team to team was because some of his antics were toxic to the locker room culture and I he's tested positive for marijuana multiple times in his career.

mpound97 Thats my main issue with Randy is the fact that he was a front runner. When things are going well and his team was in contention he gave his best effort but when the coin was flipped he became a lazy, pouty diva. Rice showed up and gave 100% every game for his entire career. Nobody worked as hard as Rice who was never gifted with the natural ability and athleticism Moss had.
