So I challenge any Michael Jordan fan to go on my podcast to show your facts that Michael Jordan is the number 1 NBA player of all time. It is real simple to go on. Just send me an email with your phone number, or tell me what app you want to use if you don't want to give your phone number, and I will call you and set it up, the email is water@galaxyhit.com
I went to his basketball camp as a kid in Houston two years in a row. Ran into him as a teenager after a game against the rockets. I was with my mother and he remembered me and my mother by name and talked to us a good twenty minutes. My friends couldn't believe that I knew clyde Drexler. He is by far the nicest most humble athlete I've ever met.
Absolutely. People don't talk about the class side of him or his greatness as a player. Im not sure how many basketball fans know he averaged more than 6 assists as a 2 guard several seasons in his career. Even 8 APG one season, more than guys like Dwyane Wade
I think that Clyde was underrated because of how understated he is, and that has only increased over time. Also because his style of play looked so effortless, which I loved.
The glide was always fun to watch and a great player. He seems like a genuinely nice and decent person. Can't help but respect his opinion on players of his era.
I met Clyde one time at SMU where his freshman son played on the visiting Loyola Marymount team. What a nice and cordial guy who made me feel glad I spoke up to want to shake his hand and let him know how much I enjoyed watching him play.
I had a feeling he couldn't pick between the two of them. Clyde Drexler is my father's favorite player. Made a basketball fan out of a soccer player from Holland in his 40s. Props to him and every player mentioned.
Dude, that highlight video of Phi Slamma Jamma @ Houston is fantastic. All of those guys played above the rim. My fav dunk is a breakaway by Bennie Anders. It used to be on RU-vid. What a team.
Mr. DREXLER, enjoyed watching him play his entire career. One of the AllTime GREATS himself. An incredibly enjoyable listening experience!! His humble appreciation when describing the talents of his fellow Players was a joy to listen to🤙
Not that he is better than Majic, But a better choice for him in a chemistry for a better rounded team, their is only one ball, 5 guys have to bring a win
Clyde would've been attacked as a racist, had he chose the CORRECT choice, Larry Bird. My guess is that had Bird played with Jabbar, Worthy, Cooper, Scott, AC, Mychal Thompson, Jeff Lamp, Mike Smrek, Kurt Rambis, Cooper, Mike McGee, and Jamal Wilkes, in addition to playing in the pathetic western conference from the entire 80s, Larry Legend would have won 9-10 NBA Titles. Absolutely, clearly, the greatest all around basketball player to ever live. Unlike Ballhog Jordan, total prick and Stage 4 cancer Lebron James, one dimensional Kareem, 60s Bill Russell who won the championship 11 times by defeating one team in the east and one in the west to win a championship, AND with no 3 second rule, Yes, my friends, Larry The Legend Bird, is EASILY the greatest player of all time. Any doubts, just look up Larry Bird Passing Highlights on YT, and you'll get up to 35 minutes of jaw dropping passing highlights. Look up career PASSING highlights of Michael Jordan or Stage IV Lebron, and you might get 2 minutes COMBINED of passing highlights at best. And what an absolute travesty that the truly great Isiah Thomas was left off the original DREAM TEAM, in favor of John Stockton is an insult and joke. All because The Ballhog 23 didn't want Thomas on that team. And Laettner over Shaq, or Dominique Wilkins, is a total disgrace.
Mr. Drexler, 10x NBA All-Star, great, great shooting guard career with Portland, and of course a championship with Houston. Great competitor, a classy player who always did his job, and the consumate professional. Stellar NBA career👍👏👏👏
There is a very good reason that Clyde could not pick between Magic and Larry. Every other pair that was compared played the same position (even Gregg Popovich admitted that Duncan was a center, regardless of the roster listing). Larry and Magic were the best at their individual positions during their careers.
its more than that... as awesome as the other six are there is just something different about bird and magic... very few of different positions are compared to each other the way these two are and its a testament to what they meant to the league and eachother.. now i personally take bird because he was better all around had less to work with (but obviously a lot to work with) and waa in a far more difficult conference... but ether way wherever you put them they are maybe the only 2 that you need to use A and B. meaning if you have them at 5th best its 5th a and b... and both have an asterisk because of shortened careers... both have a claim at the throne and had health been different then they easily could have bit into Michaels legacy
Jordan and Bill Russell are my all-time favorite NBA players, but Clyde the Glide is my all-time favorite college player. He and Dream were all I wanted to see in the early 1980s.
No, he wasn't. The Lakers were assured at least the Conference Finals or higher with Magic, not so with Bird. Magic's ability to make his teammates better is way beyond Bird's. Bird loses points with me because he had a stacked Celtics team and still couldn't make it to the finals in '82 and '83. Lakers were a first round team before Magic, then he came in, and they won the championship his rookie year. Magic was better.
I always thought that Bird's play in the post season was a bit disappointing compared to his play in the regular season. He definitely disappointed in '85. I have to give the edge to Magic.
@One Advocate the West mostly didn't have much competition in the 80s. Only Houston with dominant all time great Centers gave LA fits. Look at the 86-87 season.....the West playoffs was a joke that year for the Lakers lol
When you have 2 really good players like this, and you cant decide who’s better just ask yourself if they are both better than Michael Jordan. In this case, yes Larry and Magic both brought more to the table.
Bird was the better scorer, better shooter, better rebounder, just as good a passer, more versatile, better defender and was absolutely nails in those clutch moments. I give the nod to Bird but Magic was transcendent as well. I believe both of them to be the best all time at their respective positions.
Smile? Lol. How about Magic way a better DRIBBLER, better PASSER, could fig into any system, was a better LEADER, more DURABLE, more SUSTAINED excellence, and NEVER made it about himself.
@@emmanuelenyinwa1443 bird was smarter on the court and it’s not even close. Bird wasn’t a better leader? Huh maybe you need to check out what the Celtics were when magic took over and bird did. Bird was a far away better shooter, rebounder and defender. Passing of course is magic but bird was an excellent passer. Anyone who knows basketball knows bird was the better player.
I would swap Karl Malone for Duncan and Kareem for Olajuwon. Karl Malone was more versatile than Tim Duncan. Magic, Bird, Jordan, Karl Malone, and Kareem.
@@marzmarch some say magic johnson was with his look away passes ,i dont agree ,bird was best shooter by far ,he hit 10 in a row in 3pt.shoot out .when ark had sidny moncreif and the triplets we almost won it all except for a bad call .we played against bird at indiana state, ark lost
2:02 Based on Defensive Win Shares per season for their careers, Tim was *very* slightly better than Hakeem - and BOTH were in range of 3-5 alltime (with Kareem) at just over 6 per season. Bill Russell #1 by far at 10+ per season (his rookie season was short due to the Australian Olympics extending into the NBA season, but he was right over 10 WITHOUT factoring that in). Wilt at #2 with a hair over 7 per season (and the only pair of seasons by ANYONE not named "Bill" over over 10 for a single season).
I was never a big basketball fan but remember seeing Clyde slam dunk but he looked like he was only 6” off the court and then he’d just slam it right in
Magic vs Bird , LOL he did the right thing. Ef Hakeem I saw him stop mid court and slam his elbow to the throat of a college player for no reason. Ef that
Stockton is not comparable to Isiah. The main difference is Isiah could literally take over a game and win it. Stockton was not able to do that. Isiah use to get 30-40 points on Stockton everytime they played.
This picking between two greats stuff is garbage. It's obviously embarrassing to Drexler, who played with and against all of them. The only people who really like the stuff are the dorks who think they know more than they do.
Agree on all but Karl Malone. Barkley was way more talented and Malone wouldn’t have had nearly as many points without Stockton setting him up. Barkley took over games on his own.
I always thought that John Stockton was clearly better than Isiah, but most people give the edge to Isiah because of the 2 championships and name recognition.
Stockton got taken to school in the playoffs by PGs he shouldn't have allowed to. Isiah could take over games in the playoffs better than Stockton could.
Tough call. Stockton is so far ahead of everyone in assists and steals, and missed only 22 games in 19 seasons. Made the playoffs in every one of his 19 seasons, but couldn't beat those Bulls!
@@tictocbang7443 Stockton didn't get enough credit because of his lack of championships and playing in a small market. He didn't score a whole lot, but his shooting was right there with Bird and Miller. His passing was ahead of Magic's. It seemed like the Jazz were always one player away from a dynasty and could never get over the hump.
I don't understand these questions for one reason...Magic and Bird played two different positions. LeBron and Bird are both small forwards, so that's easier to compare. Jordan and Magic are both guards, so it's better to compare those two. I cannot compare Drew Brees to Rob Gronkowski. There are too many greats in the NBA to compare any player of any position. Makes more sense to me to categorize it. Even if you want to compare say Lebron to Bird, I could pull up stats and handicaps to prove Bird is better than Lebron. Bird had better stats by retirement at 13 years than Lebron had by his 13th year. Of course LeBron has beaten that now because he's been in for almost 20 years.
Tough choice , I'll take magic and ill tell you why, lets play a pickup game, you get first pick, you take Mike, i take magic, you take LeBron, i take Larry, you take .....Wait! I got magic AND Larry? GAME OVER!!!, they're of equal value to me, it sounds like a cop out i know but you just can't go wrong with either of them!
Please... Magic all day long and twice on Sunday. Clyde trippin' hard. Kareem is my favorite. Russell is number one, but if I was starting a team, my FIRST pick is Magic. He's the ONLY player in the history of the game to win titles at all 3 levels ( HS '77, NCAA '79, NBA '80), in 4 consecutive years. It took Russell 6 and Kareem 7. The 3 of them are the only ones that did it in less than 10 years. They stand alone in terms of game accomplishments. All 3 completely dominated their time, from start to finish. For my 'Mt. Rushmore' these 3 and add Oscar (his first 5 years in the league he avged a triple double; scoring, rebounding and assists). AND Magic was 3-1 against Bird in championship play head to head.
HE DODGED THE QUESTION ON BIRD / MAGIC ..... which is chicken shit ! Most NBA players back then PICKED LARRY .... and they did because he was THEE MAN ..... complete skills in all areas - except speed ... disappointed in this no-pick.
Hakeem can't even make the 1992 playoffs, couldn't even reach the Finals because he was so scared of MJ's dominance 😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣. Just like Larry Bird who avoided MJ in 1991 and 1992 🤣🤣🤣🤣😆😆😆😆
Stockton, all-time assists leader, all-time steals leader, invited to Dream Team. Thomas, whiny snibbly biotch _intentionally snubbed_ from Dream Team, oh, and 2 NBA championships.
Dumb comparisons lol. Stockton was a true point-guard and Thomas was more of a shooting/point guard. Olajuwon was a center and Duncan was a power-forward and Bird and Magic had different responsibilities for their teams.
Its interesting to hear the modern fans (LeBron buttboys) and modern players take dumps on Larry Bird all the time despite never really seeing him play. Then you listen to guys who played against Larry and they give him all the praise in the world. You young punks and JJ Redick should listen to what these guys have to say.
@@MS-ns2pj that's your opinion. They played 3x in the finals for greatest of all time and #MagicDaGOAT won 2-1. I still got Larry #2. Higher than most.
Of course he picked Thomas, must be because Stockton only got 15806 assists, and he knows Bird was better than Johnson he just can’t say it, tweet tweet go have a seat bahahaha😂😂😂
