Nice to hear mention of the rotunda at Plantation, and I suspect many people don't know the history of that site. Back in the mid 70's I used to walk under the Clyde, to my work in Finnieston, by way of those rotunda's. Dim and dark it was but much quicker than taking a bus via the town.

I'd have loved to have checked that out. I wonder what condition it is in now? The tunnel that is. I wonder if it's flooded. 🤔

I went through Uddingston on my LeJog passed the Tunnock Bakery I could smell the caramel. Went into the city centre passing Celtic's home ground. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Central Glasgow overnight. Next day walked to Drymen on the WHW. When I was walking through the industry estate, just before Possilpark, I met a guy training a bird of prey! I walked from Gretna to Glasgow following the B7076 next to the A74M.

Aye, someone mentioned that when I put up the vid: quite a random thing to find sprayed on the ground under a bridge in Glasgow! Some folk must have been watching too much Sons of Anarchy or summat!

Very clear sharp video quality. The videos I place on RU-vid have a quality of 1080HD, but I see yours are 1080p60HD, and I suspect it's that p60 that's making all the difference. Can you tell me what video software you use, and in what format you save the final video? Many thanks in anticipation. Ed

Hello Edward! I use Adobe Premier Pro. I render the vid with Adobe's default RU-vid export setting (Variable Bit Rate, 1 pass) but I change the target bitrate to 20 and the max to 40. I also select the two options to render at the maximum depth. The output file is an mp4. I took this footage with my Sony FDR X3000 in 1080p at 60fps. So Adobe detects this frame rate and renders it as such. I think what you are noticing in perceived sharpness is indeed due to the higher frame rate. 60fps give a more reality TV look and as it has more frames per second you don't get as much motion blur in movement so it gives the footage a sharper look. Also as the action cam has a really wide lens more or less everything is always in focus, so again, that helps with the perception of sharpness. I don't actually film in 60fps anymore right enough. This was all part of my experimentation to get the look I was wanting. It really comes down to personal taste. So yeah, try setting your camera to 50 or 60fps (depending on what your camera will go to and whether you have it set to PAL or NTSC) and see if that helps you get the look you are after. Haha, I could go on about stuff like this all day! 🙂🐾👍

Many thanks. On looking into things I see my camera already records at 50fps, but I was not using the Movie Studio 15 software properly. All I have to do is properly select the appropriate render settings and I'll have videos at 1080 60fps (although given the camera settings, actually 50fps - but still better than the previous 29.97 fps). Obviously the problem is the bigger file size takes longer to render and much longer (close to 3 hours if my recent video had been rendered properly) to upload, but that's just down to not having a great fibre line. Anyway, thanks again.

@@EdExploresScotland what camera do you have? Is it a DSLR, mirrorless or something else?
@EdExploresScotland
@EdExploresScotland 5 лет назад
@@HoundsofHowgate It's a Sony DSC-HX400. I have it at the maximum video quality setting, but as I said I was simply not using the movie-making software that is on my computer properly. My fault entirely. If I can put up with around 3 hours upload times, we're sorted.
@HoundsofHowgate

@@EdExploresScotland I was more wondering if you can change your particular camera between NTSC and PAL. Doing so gives you the ability to select more frame rates.

Reminds me of some of my canal walks, ok if you can link up with public transport
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
Definetly, it's handy. The only problem is it's going to become increasingly difficult to get back from the walks with public transport as I head further south. I'll just need to see how we get on as and when we get there. Where there is a will, there is a way! 🤞👍

Hounds of Howgate lol yes a bit more planning involved, I’ve sort of got to that on the Leeds to Liverpool canal, no train links have to work out bus timetables etc ugh lol

@@LezleysAdventures totally! Some forms of public transport don't allow dogs either, so that further complicates the matter! 🐾🤜🚌
