I like your enthusiasm John. Keep going... Devising section walks to complete your walking the Length of Scotland is a great idea and a manageable goal to take your though autumn and into winter.

Thanks Martin! Yeah, I realised my slip up after I watched it back after rendering the vid. I couldn't be bothered editing it and rendering it again so I put the correction in the description. Thanks for pointing it out in case I hadn't though 👍 Aye, I love this time of year! Super awesome colours. Autumnal colours are probably my favourite actually. Well nice! 👍

Hi john, founds your videos by chance and I’ve gotta say their great 👍🏻 I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ones I’ve watched and I subscribed so I can keep enjoying them. Moss is amazing too, love her energy! And I was laughing in this video as it’s the first one you weren’t digging your hole and wondering where you left the toilet paper 🤣🤣 Keep on trekking mate!

Hey Hounds, just saying hi from South Africa. Love your channel! The missus and I are planning on walking the Skye Trail and then continue on to Cape Wrath during August next year and your videos are invaluable. You deserve way more subscribers. Keep up the good work. BTW that waterfall that Livingstone discovered is the Victoria Falls which is a fantastic sight to behold.

Hello Arno, thank you very much! 👍 Yeah, I realised my slip up when watching the vid back after editing and rendering but couldn't be bothered editing and rendering it again to add some text in vid; so I put a correction in the description. Thanks for pointing it out in case I hadn't noticed though! 👍 That's great that you two are coming over to Scotland to hike. Have you been before? You will love it and you have picked most epic places to hike with the Skye Trail and CWT for sure! You need to let us know how you get on! I'd love to visit Africa sometime: so many cool places to visit and things to see! Thanks again, cheers! 🐾👍

My wife and I did visit Scotland in 2015 and we fell in love with it. It's a stunning country with fantastic people. I've never seen so much rain in my life and to someone who's roots lie in the Karoo desert of South Africa, it was a sight to behold. Our hiking conditions are vastly different from yours. My brother and I are attempting one of South Africa's great hikes this coming December namely the Drakensberg Grand Traverse. That involves about 12-14 days of truly unsupported hiking at altitudes of 3000 meters or more. No trail, no shops, no tourists, no roads, no huts (bothies), in fact no sign of civilization at all! Just GPS, compass and map. Can't wait, although our packs are probably going to have to be stupid heavy to carry all that food for 2 weeks. Thanks again for your videos. They really are some of the best hiking videos I've ever seen. Who knows, maybe we'll yet run into each other somewhere in the Highlands.
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
@@arnolambrechts2422 Wow! That Drakensberg grand traverse looks absolutely unbelievable! Totally epic! Now that IS proper GoT & LoR! ⛰🏔🏞👍👍👍 You'll need to video that hike or put some pics up on Instagram or something. 📽 Two weeks is gonna be a lot of food what with all that elevation gain and loss. What a grand adventure! All the best for it! Thanks again Arno, your kind words are much appreciated and really encorage me to keep at it. Plus it makes all the filming and editing worth it! Cheers! 🐾👍

@@HoundsofHowgate You've set the bar unattainably high in terms of video production standards but I'm definitely going to fill up a whole stack of memory cards up there and I'll try and put together a decent RU-vid video afterwards. Will let you know. Cheers again!

Hi Hounds, I'm still here! Just lurking and enjoying your stroll south. I recognise a couple of bits particularly around Hamilton and the M74. Spotted the Ferris wheel across Strathclyde park , which is usually lit up at night when I pass through. Diversion signage or lack of it annoys me too! particularly when they close the motorway for overnight repairs and dump you god know's way and your twat nav is trying to point you back onto the motorway. Just after 3 and the light was fading when you finished. I love the autumnal colours but hate the short days. BTW, good forecast this weekend, so off to Torridon for 3 days of getting from Ardeshlaig to Red Point, no public transport so having to use my bike. Cheers Alan
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
Thanks Alan! Sounds good! Will you have to do the route twice? Once on the bike and then walk to the car to return to pick up the bike later? It can be quite hard to sort things out when section hiking remote parts. I remember having to cycle some parts to get to a Munro. As I get further south transport at the weekends is going to become a hassle and that is not even remote!
@owdjockey4459
@owdjockey4459 5 лет назад
Hi Hounds, yes I will have to do the route twice. The first day I will push my bike away from the car and then cycle back. The last day of the three between Lower Diabaig and Red Point will be a double walk - out and back of about 16 mile total. The drive around to Red Point is about 45 miles which is too far to cycle. When I climbed a couple of Hills in the Lake District back in 2004 I took my small Jack Russel - called Scampi Tiberius Germanicus. I had about a five mile cycle down hill to the start of the walk so I tucked Scampi into my walking jacket and we zoomed off down the hill with me holding one hand on the handlebar/brake and the other supporting Scampi inside my jacket with his little head popping-out, like Moss. Impressed with that taxi only costing £7.50

I remember where I saw your face now! I used to have a chat with you when I walked my two dogs! A Border collie and a big black cross rottie, border collie. Moss must have been young then! One of my old dogs has since died and I have a new young rescue who is the one who I spoke about that accompanied me for the second part of the CWT. I knew you looked familiar! Been catching up with your videos. Really informative.
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
Thank you! I think I actually remember you: we used to chat when passing while walking. You weren't one of the group that used to congregate, were you? Was it your collie that was ball mad? Yeah, Moss was still young at the time. We moved down near Biggar so that's why we disappeared from the area.
@Tweets122
@Tweets122 5 лет назад
Yes Mist! He is still ball mad. He is deaf as a post and his sight beginning to fail a bit but doing well! He still manages to come and do Munros with me but not sure how many more he will manage. I didn't take him on the CWT for obvious reasons. My other old boy died so I got a wee rescue cross tamaskan/collie and she came with me on the trail. Was her I was speaking about on one of your posts re ruffwear harness and will take her on the first half next May. She is hard work though and has a few issues but makes for the challenge I guess. Aye and yes I occasionally walked with the 'group' but enjoyed my own company! Storm is afraid of people so I stopped going when it was busy although she is getting a bit better so I may return. Anyway great to hear from you again , I wondered what had happened to you!
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
@@Tweets122 yeah, good to hear from you too. Keep in touch and posted on your adventures and how the dogs are going. Hi Hounds, weekend off? Or just abit late with the editing. BTW, I was sitting in my tent in Torridon and realised you missed giving a big shout-out when you passed through 'Uddy' to it being the home of one of Scotlands premier sweetmeat biscuit/confectionary companies. Besides the chocolate wafer biscuit, what about the marshmellow Tea cake biscuits? Big omission, especially from a Blantyre lad. LOL

Nah, the vid is just taking ages for RU-vid to process for some reason. It's uploaded but still only available in 320p or something like that. Rubbish quality basically; so just waiting for them to make a better quality version available before making it public. Haha, good point about the cracking offerings from our fav biscuit manufacturer! 🍪🍫👍
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
Just checked: still only 360p available and it's not worth watching at that quality. It's a longer vid from Strathclyde Park to Lanark but that had been a couple of days now... Gonna have to have a look on le net to see what the score is with that!
@Tweets122
@Tweets122 5 лет назад
Thanks for that . I have the palisades ruffwear pack and will use that again but that strap you had looks ideal in case I had any problems getting her over rivers. She was fine last time due to the water levels being low. I am hoping May this next year is the same but who can tell! Was it just a strap you bought? I wouldn’t know what to order?
@HoundsofHowgate
@HoundsofHowgate 5 лет назад
We call them ladder straps but if you look up Thule 523 you will see what it is. Thule ones are pretty expensive but if you look the 523 you will know what to look for. Amazon have ones for a couple of pounds. Look up Thule Luggage Strap 400cm on Amazon and scroll down to similar items and you will see ones for a few pounds there. They don't need to be top notch ones for carrying a dog as they are designed for hiding down luggage on roof racks etc. If you are still not sure I can send you a link on my facebook or Instagram 'Hounds of Howgate' or even drop one off in the shop at Bothwell Castle for you. 👍
