I think it's because the 90s were the last decade where you could really pigeonhole a decade for its specific sound/genres. Music of literally this entire millennium is practically interchangeable.
I remember liking this particular Groovie when I was little because it was very unique. It was a show I've never seen before; to my knowledge CN never aired it, and the song was a music genre I've never listened before. It was so different from the rest of the Groovies
It was rare but they aired it. To this day, this is the only Betty Boop cartoon I’ve ever watched. Betty Boop arrived late to the races because she was sick and decided to race anyway. Hijinks ensued (more so than usual) because of her sneezing. Though I’m not sure if it was Cartoon Network or Boomerang.
@@terraventusaqua123 Definitely Boomerang. I actually have the cartoon itself on DVD. It's very common to find it among those classic cartoon compilation DVD sets.
I love how early old cartoons play with the absurd and unexpected, and I'm glad shows like Uncle Grandpa and The Amazing World of Gumball still keep this spirit alive!
As a kid I was always watching TV till late night with low volume so I won't be caught. This cut was hypnotic and now I stumbled upon this and the bass sounds massive.
@@NevermoreVendetta I have it on my playlist on Spotify. it's a great song to have on while driving. I remember always getting excited whenever they would show it on CN cause I always loved the song.
Ruten VI the real reason they don’t is that in 1991 a law was passed to limit advertising in children’s TV, meaning that all the 80’s shows Cartoon Network used to fill dead air with were now too short as their run time assumed there would be more or longer commercials, and the powers that be seem to have decided it was easier to add these 4 minute interstitial things to keep their time slots regular. That’s why they existed, but now that Cartoon Network is almost entirely original content (with the occasional anime dub), there’s no need for them. It’s worth noting that even with the limitations imposed in 1991, most Japanese anime still needs to be cut down by something like 1-2 minutes to fit between the commercials.
Eu tbm mano pelo toon cast achei essa música # fora que amoooo canal toon cast desenhos antigos amooo😍😍😍😍 um salve daki de belo horizonte Minas Gerais brasil.
jesus man i remember seeing this when i was like 10 or 11 and just being blown away by this band and video, it sounded so weird to me at the time and I never forgot it. soul coughing was an awesome band, it sucks that they all hate each other.
If you were curious - most of the footage is from 1933's "Betty Boop's Ker-Choo", except for the footage of Betty playing the pig-powered pipe organ, which was from "Betty Boop's Crazy Inventions", also from 1933.
And the clip of the clown is from a different episode as well. Can't remember which one though. The episode wasn't included on the Betty Boop DVD I had so I had to leave that part as is.
Since childhood this has been an inspiration for me (especially the pig sync) and even after seeing it again after all this time it still stands as a masterpiece of editing!
funDzAmEntal I don't know if I'd be able to do anymore. This one had clips straight from the show without any special effects so I was able to just use the clips from DVD.
Loved the groovies on Cartoon Network. This was my fave but i also liked my best friend plank, circles, and the rest but i swear. THIS is how you introduce good music to children. It fn works dude. Wouldnt have known soul coughing otherwise.
It's absoultely wild to me, that 20 or so years ago I saw this maybe 3 or 4 times on CN. And after all this time it made that much of an impression on me to look it up now. What a world.
I remember this music video. Lost count on how many times I recorded the audio on my tape recorder back in the day. Wasn't the best quality but it was fine for the time.
I remember seeing this at like 2 in the morning when I was 10. The clown creeped me out so bad at 2:03. He looked like some evil phantom-y creature (this was back before HD TVs)
@@KyuuraTV esse clipe junto com essa música passava direto na Cartoon network, não é? me lembro que passava quando não tinha nenhum desenho e só tava nos comerciais.
Thank you for posting this video!!! I was at my desk at work and suddenly I remembered this song but I did not remember the artists. Now that I play the bass guitar I have to learn this synth bass part on my new Schecter 5 string. It sounds easy, I hope there are some tabs for this on RU-vid.
When I was a kid I found this video disturbing just for being black and white and the 20's cartoon... But now... I love it so much, what a wrong misconception I had.
Ahh... memories, I grew-up watching Cartoon Network (since from the early-nineties) and seeing this, as a young little kid. Those were the days (Unlike what it has become, right now.).
Amazing how this sinks up (yes.. I know they edited the video, still). Was a solid favorite of mine back in the day... Always forget the band's name (Soul Coughing in case you're wondering). I remember there being some pretty dope DNB remixes. Makes sense, since they were "rolling" 😛💊🎱🤖👽🥁💎🙏
