CN's GP9RMs 4000 & 4100 series

HD video of the remanufactured GP9s in the 4000 & 4100 series taken near the end of their lives between 2009 and 2016. The locomotives were built by GM between 1955 & 1959 and remanufactured at Pointe St Charles shops in Montreal between 1981 & 1991. The 4100 series are lighter than the 4000 series. These units had the control stands moved to the opposite side of the cab for short hood operation. Other changes included chopping the short hood, removing the dynamic brakes and using the bulge for extra carbody filters and moving the bell.

David, sorry to hear of your health problem. This is a real bummer for me and I'm sure all your followers. Travel is a luxury for me, if I had the chance, you would be someone I would like to have met. Thanks for all effort you have gone to to make these great videos available to us...it is much appreciated!

Well, I see you've returned to posting historical archived videos from North America, rather than those from the U.K. Those rail operations in the U.K., to me, seem to be very buttoned down. Passengers, and rail personnel alike, don't ever seem to be excited about their trains. But here in the Western Hemisphere, just the opposite is true. In the Northern States, centrally located, which is my neck of the woods, and on some short lines, GP 38's, are the power units of choice, because, I'm sure, these small operators, can't afford any locomotives newer, and none of their movements are for long haul anyway.
