Calgary doesn't have an affordable housing problem like Toronto and I'm sure we can afford to renovate the tower, as it's an iconic part of Calgary's history.

The Calgary tower is lame, it's short and can't be seen from some angles because it's so short. Calgary probably can't afford to renovate it because Calgary is facing a $5.7 Bn infrastructure funding gap, while building the $4.6 Bn Green line, and trying to host the $4.5 Bn Olympics. Basically Calgary sucks at spending money responsibly. Plus the Calgary tower is privately owned anyways, rather ironically by an Edmonton company.

Bidding for the Olympics will actually help the economy a LOT, as small businesses will prosper due to an increase in visitors and tourism.

Calgary is in a province where there is a huge deficit, and running up huge depts very quickly. Research shows that EVERY SINGLE Olympic games since 1968 has experienced substantial cost over runs. Look at Vancouver, $1.6 billion in revenues from broadcast rights, ticket sales, sponsors, and so on, while costs exceeded $7.5 billion. On average olympic games end up costing *TRIPLE* their original estimate (Calgary's 88 games were 59% over budget). Keep in mind though the 88 games were held when their was so much money in Alberta that they didn't know what to do with it, now we are crawling our way out of a recession. The fact that Calgary is short $5.7 Billion in infrastructure funding and still want's to host the $4.5 Billion olympics is so dumb. Also people visiting the olympics will probably be stuck taking the already over crowed c-train causing total chaos and making life impossible in Calgary for two weeks. Is two week's of fun really worth more than $4.5 Billion?

it really depends on what you're looking for. Do you want to go up during the day when its bright out or do you want to go up there when its closer to the sunset. I would say around 12pm -3pm is when there are going to be more people and if you want to do the edge walk you would have to book that online its around $220 but you can do the whole tower. Check the weather out before planning to go up since you want the best experience possible.

At different times of the year they have special 2for1 passes that bring the price down to under $22 per person.

It's owned by a Crown corporation so it's not taxpayer-funded.

Cool idea, might look weird though on the concrete tower. Know what though, I was watching some videos and heard about this film-like solar panel that you can attach to windows, almost like a sticker. You can still see through them but they act as solar panels, generating power. Imagine putting those on every window of every glass downtown skyscraper.

The CN tower is literally 3 times taller than the space needle.

Unlike most people, I don't focus that much on height. I find the exterior and interior design more attactive and appealing than the cn tower
