Priestly Demolition does an interior strip of the most iconic building in Canada, the CN Tower. Over a 1000 feet in the air with nothing but safety on their minds. Also a demo of the staircase between the dome and CN Tower. Watch how they do it!

At 52 years old, I have come to realize what one of the Priestleys said to me years ago as they dismantled the Canadian Tire at Main and Danforth, that this is the best job ever. I wish I'd followed his sage advice and switched to this profession. You never go home angry when your job is demolition. Great work guys!

Isn't that Canadian Tire still there? It says its open and reviews are still being posted. Am I getting it confused with another? I get kind of sad or more accurately sentimental when buildings are demolished. It's quite intriguing how fast structures can be completely dismantled while they took ages to design and build and many years of use and events. Its interesting to see how others feel about it, including someone in the industry like yourself.

Most people are unaware of the logistics involved in a Demolition like this. 1 Elevator and 500 plus meters of elevation is certainly a challenge and impacts everything. Pity them? How much work in riding up and down instead of working nonstop on a sing story gut out? A guy could get fat quick working 15 minutes then go for a ride down and back up for 30 minutes. It wouldn’t surprise me if they loaded the elevator then step off and get the next load ready. While someone on the street level empties their cart and returns it to the elevator.
@thomaslgrice
@thomaslgrice 3 года назад
That's funny. You would be surprised how riding an elevator constantly can mess with your equilibrium. We did a library project where we were moving books from 4 upper floors into a compact storage facility in a sub-basement. To facilitate efficiency and make use of staff who could not perform physical tasks for long stretches we had elevator operators who kept the automated operators from being a problem. We soon learned that most people could not ride elevators for more than 2 hours without suffering dizziness and loss of balance. Even after walking out of the car they would have problems for a half an hour. As lead on the project I insisted on doing all of the tasks and learned first hand what this was like - and this was just run lengths of 6-9 floors. I don't know how people managed in the age of manual operation. I had a cousin who was an elevator operator, but they had to let him go - he couldn't learn the route. (sorry, couldn't resist.)

I guess they're not touching the other 2 levels in the main pod. There are also the microwave and broadcast levels. I have worked on the microwave level a few times and only 1 of the 3 elevators stops there. When I went there I had to sign in at the security desk, which was downstairs, below the main concourse, and when I wanted to leave I'd take the stairs up to the observation level where all 3 elevators were available. Otherwise I could have a long wait.

SCREAMS a materials shredder. turn it all into thumb size bits and you could use a simple dump chute.

I think there would be a shit ton of people pissed about seeing a dump chute all the way down the side of the CNN tower lol, would be very visible.

It's not 342 meters either. This is the United States. It's 374 yards, or 1122 feet. As Abe Simpson aptly said, "The metric system is the tool of the devil. My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead, and that's the way I likes it!" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z5-s-4KPtD8.html

@@ClayLoomis1958 Uh.... Last I knew, Toronto is in Canada. As I text this in Michigan, it's 68 degrees outside. Across the river, in Windsor, it's only 20!

@daAnder71 An extremely cold winter that hasn't happened yet. Detroit's absolute minimum in the last 100 years is -24°F, or -29.4°C.
