Fintech, short for financial technology, refers to the software, mobile applications, and other technologies created to improve and automate the traditional forms of finance. The annual Singapore Fintech Festival opens on Wednesday (Nov 15), with leaders from the International Monetary Fund and World Bank set to take the stage at the largest gathering for the global fintech community. CNA’s Elizabeth Neo takes a closer look at the term "fintech" and retraces its evolution through the years.
