An occupied bed is a bed that a patient is currently using. It means that there are sheets and blankets on the bed, and the patient is either sitting or lying on it.
in this scenario, Nurse Eunice will demonstrate the easiest way to safely reposition the patient, change soiled linens, and replace the pillow case without shaking the pillow. If your resident's medical bed has side-rails, please utilize them.
You can add additional linens (ex: draw sheet, an incontinent pad, and/or a blanket) if allowed by your facility. Again, this is a simple way to change an occupied bed.

We will gladly accept donations for gloves so that our students who are demonstrating skills can change gloves 3 times during 1 simulated skill.

What about the extra blanket to cover the resident befor removing the old blanket and changing of gloves after touching the dirty bottom sheet......also there is no draw sheet or a rubber sheet

Hmm... What if a home care patient doesn't have an extra blanket? 🤕 Am I not supposed to change the linens? Also, the items shown in the video are the standard linens for the Florida CNA exam. Your state may require a blanket, but ours doesn't.

Umm.. Wow You have not been keeping up with current standards. There's this place called "home care" in which residents might NOT have rails. Plus EVERY Healthcare worker knows that rails don't prevent falls. It's an illusion. 😂😂 I guess You were too busy trying to critique a bed without rails (and FTA). Regardless, thanks for watching.

Do your own research: "Analysis by controlling for behavioral, cognitive, and functional status showed that bilateral side-rail use was not associated with a significantly lower bed-related fall rate. It was also not associated with a lower rate of recurrent falls."
