I had a similar problem with Estops on my CNC too - I fitted a cover, but I also tapped into the wiring and located another higher up on the wall, just in case!
Love the lead screw dust guards! Will definitely look at doing something similar and maybe 3D printing some caps for the ends to help too. With the Genmitsu have you tried to mill any aluminium? If so how was it?
I was thinking of trying to make a relief cut in the acrylic and then bending it down to cover the end, but thought it probably wouldn't look as nice as I wanted it to.
I have done a couple carving/engravings in 1/8" thick aluminum that came out looking nice. Usually with a 1/16th or 1/32 shallow depth for the text/design. Havent tried to mill anything thicker but just bought some nice Amana Tool aluminum bits and also found a Lego brick 3D file that I'm going to try with 1/2" aluminum stock. So we'll see how that goes here soon.
I'm curious why you use the bent pieces of metal as stops? you home the machine to the limit switches correct? you could then just use a gcode to move out to that corner if you want to go to the same spot each time. just got the same machine myself, lots of learning!
I've tried that but doesn't always work for some reason. This just makes it easy to know I'm at the exact spot I want to be if the homing doesn't work.
