This is a dust shoe that fits on both the V2 and V3 version of my homemade 3d printed CNC machine. The 3d print files can be found on: github.com/leo...
The machine still leaves a little bit of dust behind but it's way better than it was without the dust shoe extension. If you know how to improve it or have any other suggestions please leave a comment in the comment section below the video.
I'm using 8mm x 1mm neodymium magnets and some piece of plastic that is called an "antislipmat" in Dutch (if anyone knows hows it's called in English, please leave a comment): www.action.com...
I use a regular (about 40mm diameter) dust hose.
You can check out the build video of the CNC machine V3 here: • 3D Printed CNC Machine V3

Fantastic video and look forward for the next advances. I see you have an anet A8, it would be great if you could record a video explaining the settings on the software and hardware modifications you have done to it so it can print smoothly. I have the same printer but I can't achieve that level of quality on my printings.

There are many upgrades for this printer to find on thingiverse, hope it helps. The most important thing for me that helped getting better results is adding a piece of glass on the bed and take your time to level the bed.

Hi Leon, I stumbled on your CNC design and I really like it. I started designing a machine in June this year which has some similar features to yours. I am yet to make chips but the spindle is now mounted and I am very close. You have some very clever ideas and I am impressed with your vacuum shoe! Well done from Australia. Dan

Has anyone ever used chains and sprockets to move the assemblies instead of rubber belts? Great video, I downloaded all your STL files from Github

я тоже думаю об этом...В Сети есть видео, где фрезер работает на цепи и фрезерует в почти вертикальной плоскости

Hello my dear, I hope you are in the best condition with this question: Why can’t I print a PDF of the two-page design that appears on one page????

Nice machine. Was wondering if you have ever checked the deflection per unit of side forces( x,y,z loads) Ie put a bit in the machine, take a mark on the table, apply a cable and weight hanging over the table and take another mark (x and y)and just measuring the z delta with a load on and off like the router. ie 2mm for 5kg force. Just a sorta crude stiffness evaluation of the total machine. That way as you make mods to your design you have a reference plain. If not, could I talk you into it. I have a self-designed round tube machine that I would love to compare. Looking to make some improvements to mine and want to see what some of your ideas could buy me. Have a great day.

Mike Clark I was wondering the same as I would like to build a large format one 4x4 or 8x4 Z axis I would use off the shelf assembly (£60) with a 500w spindle, For the X axis I would use a 1500mm 4080 C-beam (£40) with a 8mm lead screw And for the Y axis , I would use the box tube with 2ft centre supports to deal with the flex and also use 8mm lead screws for drive, Any thoughts?

"antislipmat" = "anti skid mat" or maybe a "drawer liner" or "cabinet liner" for people from the US. Should get you in the ballpark.

Leon -- looks like you have a Fusion 360 model of the CNC. Any chance you can share that? I want to tweak the printed parts for 3/4" stainless steel instead of 20 mm. I know I can import the STLs in Fusion or work with the FreeCAD models, but Fusion is my tool of choice and would make things much more straightforward to use the native model. Just asking. Great stuff BTW!

It's an Anet A8. But I don't recommend this printer when you're new to 3d printing, it needs lots of upgrades to make it work. Better buy a Prusa or something like that, I think it's more reliable.

So you made a vacuum adapter, but you still haven't made a drag chain? You've got mains power running in that bundle (not to mention electromagnetic interference from running high voltage next to your stepper leads.)

I like this a lot. After 2 years and more I am starting to build one. It´s a shame there are not full pictures of the machine from different sides to help when building it. The best of all is that looks simple and is really cheap. Thanks.
