With my Sister's wedding coming up, there are a couple projects on the barn I want to push hard on and get done in time before the big day. The first thing I want to do is fabricate some hanging lanterns for the loft area of my barn. After settling on a design I was happy with, I get to work cutting out a prototype on my CNC plasma table. I clean up the edges with a flap disc on the angle grinder and, using a jig to hold everything square, weld the pieces together. Once this first lantern is done and I'm confident it'll work, I cut out the parts for 20 additional lanterns and start a mass production line. Once all the lanterns are rusted and have a coating of matte clear enamel on them, it's time to put on my electricians hat and run the electrical through the peak of my barn where the lights will hang from. Lastly, installing the lights one by one is the best part and seeing how they all look for the first time in the loft of my barn.

Very cool video. Even cooler barn. Great place to work, practice playing music ( looks to have great accustics), and have parties with live music. Your dog puts in a full day too. Nice plasma cutting work. Looking forward to more videos. Take care.

Those lamps turned out really well. They give off a nice rustic glow that accents the barn perfectly. Here is a little tip....when installing the bulbs wear latex gloves. The natural oils on your skin, plus any chemicals you may have picked up along the way, reduces the life of the bulbs causing them to burn out prematurely.

I think some flickering lights would be cool. I'm getting some pre-electricity vibes from this build. I made one very similar to this about a year ago that was made for candles. My dad and step mom loved it.

Here is a new project idea. With all the parts you had to touch up with the grinder, you should build an Electromagnetic surface. Say two foot to a side. You could lay out a bunch of parts, flick the power switch and grind away. Seems like it could save a bunch of time.

We have a butt welding machine at work that hold plates parallel with magnets. It has a copper bar under, space between magnets is what is welde, long story short.. If you weld near the magnets it pulls the welding rod and wire and makes horrible welds

@Jeff - Linda Wells Hi Jeff, Rod here. Thanks for the comment and yes I am proud of Justin. His talents and creativity go way beyond me for sure. The thought of Meekers brings back many memories. One of my earliest is when I would go with my Dad, and he would give me two dimes so that I could buy a couple pops from the machine back in the corner. Of course, I had to wipe all the fertilizer dust off the bottles. Hopefully I'll get to take a grandson there someday. I hope you are doing well!

The Mom Hey Rod great hear from you it's been along time. I was thinking of your family a week or so ago and it blew me away when I watched Justin building the lanterns I felt like I should know him and then your dad and mom popped in and I was so glad see them looking so good. I'm doing okay for an old fart, lots to do and not much energy to do it. Great to hear from you.
