I've had the same router for two years, I had the impression that it was made in Finland (there's a label that mentions it was manufactured in 1990's) but it's probably assembled in Finland from a kit and sold to schools. My machine's Z ball screw has 2 mm lead, seems you have 5 mm, X and Y have 4 mm. It's a sturdy, cabable machine, I can easily jog it at about 3000 mm/min and mill wood at 1800 mm/min, running linuxcnc & Mesa 7i76e and DM542T drivers.

looks like a handy bit of kit!

All the cool kids have CNC routers and I wanted to join in. Seriously this thing is going to be so handy for the next project, after I complete a few other projects, which is to build that telescope I always wanted to build. That means I need to build a mirror grinding machine. So that probably means I have to build .....

Thanks for publishing this - it’s looking good and it was really interesting to watch. I’m struggling to think of my next project, and one of my ideas is to build a CNC for my plasma cutter, so this was really interesting.

Thanks David! Looking forward to your next build. A CNC plasma table would be really interesting and fun to build. HIWIN linear rails are inexpensive these days - at least over here. I'm sure across the pond they are competitive as well?

Have the same machine and totally love it, eating aluminium every second day :) I had the same problem on the limit switches, fixed them. The next day there were chips in between the limit switch -> good call to swap them out!

Looks built well. Aluminum interesting to learn here. Nice to see you back making videos. Waiting to see this machine plow some material.

Its alive! Looks definetly well built, I would suspect the whole machine came from isel. The Isel linear hardware, including the ballscrews might not be highend, but they are affordable and very longlasting.

I was considering a Shapeoko and this turned up for a fraction of the price. I think it is going to be a welcome addition to the shop.

Nice bit of work Justin ! Any thoughts of adapting a 4th axis for indexing tasks like dial engraving ?

Nice find Justin, its Germanish. Stylish is also my main concern when picking out a soldering iron. ....Concrete

I really like the iron. I had some reservations not being a Weller but it's really nice.

@@thecogwheel I just thought it was funny the top line of the box of the iron said stylish.

I'm told 4 out of 5 smurfs think this is more stylish than the Wellers.

Btw.: The company "Isel" is pronounced like "weasel" without the "w" in front. :)

What you have is a Techno Isel router table. Originally released in the late 80's and early 90's I can with what was called a machine 100 MS cos controller. Back in the day a new on would be about $ 8000 or so. I have the same machine from the 80's it ran model and prototype production 24-7 for about two years. I mothballed it for some while then had a new controller built and I still use it today. I made a mount for. 3 h.p. Ryobi router when I first got it in 1987 and it still works like a charm. I run V carve desktop and Mach 3 on it making sings and doing woodwork. My table is 52 by 52 . By the way the stepper can get warm but they seem to convey the heat well. Never any problems running it for 10 to 12 hour runs. Just stay inside the feeds and speeds. The ball screws are a big plus but keep them clean. Like yours mine had no goers on the x and y rails. Let me know if I can be any help.

Thanks John for the thoughtful and informative comment! I figured it was an expensive machine. What drives did you end up running? I have some inexpensive drives (Chinese knockoffs) but I'm planning on upgrading to Leadshines or Geckos at some point once I get a few hours on it.

I'm using Geco drivers. I had the controller custom built in about 2010 it still works fine. The steppers I have look larger than yours and mine draw about 1.5 to 2 amps. Mine has 5 mm pitch ball screws. My Z axis router is really heavy but the machine handles it like nothing. I have made all sorts of tool holders and waste boards for it over the years if you need some help their.

@@johnr9896 hey I bought the same cnc machine from a shop for a very low price with some missing parts. But I cant find any documentation. Do you have any user manual or assembly guide ? Then I can start to rebuild it 🙂
