Surprised at Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones. Despite that Batman film not being great, their chemistry was one of the highlights of that film ironically.
True, but I heard that Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig REALLY hated each other. Porky always resented the idea of Bugs stealing his Looney Tunes main character spot and leaving him in a sidekick to Daffy Duck. That explains why there never was really any cartoons featuring Bugs and Porky together...
Tommy Lee Jones did a Japanese interview a few years ago and he stated the reason why he couldn't stand Jim Carrey is "I wanted to go home and spend time with my wife, I didn't want to have to spend 3 extra hours on set wasting time because he wanted to fool around. I fool around on set, hell you don't want to see me and Will Smith on a set together we act like children BUT, we both can fool around without making the work day extra long, Mr Carrey didn't mind being on set hours after we were suppose to go home". Big difference. I believe Tommy Lee Jones on this one.
Maybe it's not the matter of believing but of nature of vreative process? TLJ is one of my favorite actors but I value passion, especially in creative settings. If one wants 9-5 schedule, perhaps one should have a 9-5 job. Like the rest of us.
Well, I remember reading an article several years ago, that Tommy L. Jones were an ass to his co-star Josh Hartnett too while filming a movie together, for no reason whatsoever. Josh ddn't see the fun it that, when he confronted him about it apparently Tommy claimed he was just joking.
There's a difference between losing and someone paying you 1/8 of what they promise you. And it's funny that the money Robert Downey jr. Negotiated for is strikingly similar to the same amount that would have been taken from Terrence Howard an ultimately taken from Don Cheadle
Terrance Howard did a good job in the first Iron Man. However, Don Chetal portrays it better. I don't think Terrance would have been able to be on Empire if things had worked out with Iron Man any way, a role I think he is fantastic with.
Areyou kidding me Jim and Tommy? These two in the film make me want to have a villian best friend Two face and riddler act like their genuine friends in the film 😂
Here for Robert Downey Jr. Wondering who would have an issue with this wonderful man. It's too bad what happened to Howard but it was Downeys time to shine. RDJ stole the show.
The Terrance Howard one never sits that well with me. It is a well reported fact that Downey stood up for his Avengers co-stars to try to get them more equal pay to his, so I really do not see him being the reason Howard got his pay cut offer.
CapHowdy it’s common knowledge that Howard demanded more than he was obligated not that his contract was violated. That’s absurd, because if they violate a contract they’d have to pay him plus the replacement. Howard considered himself the real star and demanded more. His head is too big for his talent as well as his body.
I heard that Howard had demanded more money and because he apparently 'got' Downey the job he deserved either the exact amount Downey was making or even more than Downey.
@Trahfk McGhee I think both sides are telling parts of the story. Originally Howard was having a bigger part in the Iron Man trilogy, especially 2nd and 3rd movies, and was promised higher pay. Due to how popular Robert Downey Jr was after the first movie, Marvel probably decided to cut down on Howard's part to focus more on RDJ's Iron Man, thus cutting down on his paycheck. Howard wasn't happy and demanded more. We all know how it ends.
They also said Howard was really difficult to work with on the first iron man that he would refuse to do another take and if he did it wouldn’t put much effort. Besides I think don is a much better Rhodey
Aquamexican That's the impression I got with Howard. In some scenes, he looks like he's acting "in protest", just sullenly going through the motions in the scene.
Because he just won oscar at that time and many loved him because of some of his movie went well while people saw RDJ as a drug user and already lost his star at that time. Ironman really turned their life in reverse.
Andy Garcia and Richard Gere in Internal Affairs. They hated each other so much they started throwing punches for real during takes. That definitely worked for the film!
Don Cheadle’s a way better War Machine. He actually puts in the effort to be his best James Rhodes he can. And it’s awesome. Also he was hilarious at the end of Civil War.
It's funny because I watched things backwards, meaning I didn't start with the first iron man while watching the mu movies and it took me awhile to realize that Howard was Rhodes because I was use to Don, he is a much better fit!
It shows how good actors they were that even though they couldnt stand each other, it never comes across in the films. Imagine what it would be like working all buddy buddy with someone you hated.
Unless it's a franchise film contract that they signed and is legally binding, and if you want out, fork over millions of dollars, just because you disagreed with one of your co-workers... but yea, at least they don't have to see each other...
Robert Downey and Terrence Howard have since become friends again. Terrence posted on his Instagram or Twitter a picture of him and Robert at some party or something together
Ricardo Ortiz-Joseph it’s not a debate for me. People forget Snipes was the one that launched the first good Marvel movie. He’s also played some really good roles in other movies. He’s underrated. What has RR done? Deadpool? Lol The first one was good. The 2nd was trash and his other roles don’t come close to Snipes.
Ricardo Ortiz-Joseph Snipes is blacklisted from Hollywood. Especially since the whole tax evasion thing. However, Netflix recently added Blade and Blade 2. I think there’s something up the pipe for him soon. Maybe he’ll get a chance to co direct a Blade Netflix Series. I can’t see him acting as Blade anymore. He may be too old.
Another notorious feud between co-stars was Sean Penn and Michael J. Fox during the making of Casualties of War. I think it's harder for incompatible co-stars if their characters have to act romantic or intimate with each other. Two such movies come to mind: 1) Harrison Ford and Sean Young in Blade Runner. 2) Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing.
i think people tend to not get along with each other in a work type environment....like i hated pretty much everyone at school and i only pretended we were cool cause i had to put up with them.. but not without reason they all gave me a reason to hate them...like Rambo said "they drew first blood not me" i wasn't even bullied and i still don't ever wanna see anyone from school ever again... i just wish i had a neurolizer so i can erase them from my memory completely
He got paid 1/8 that they promised him......damien you would also be pissed if that happend to you but i dont understand why howard is turning that on robert since it was not roberts fault
@@velimirmisanovic8647 he called a friend (RDJ) and got answered 3 months later.. even if Robert can't do anything about it, it was still a dick move.. so yeah, it would piss anyone..
@@nadstengco2591 yeah i know im talking to damien saying that howard is salty when im trying to explain to him on why anyone would get mad at a time like that
Everyone debating whether Snipes' Blade or RDJ's Iron Man kicked off the modern Marvel movie era are knobs. 1986's Howard the Duck was the first Marvel property to get a wide release thanks Howard!
So much so, that a spin-off Lucy planned between the actors never went ahead, because Frawley and Vance said that they would never work with each other again.
@@jollyquick1184 most people who work on movies are usally just normal people the person who made wolverines claws in x men is just a simple person who lives in calafornia in a n apartment so his dad isnt a celebrity
I’m old enough to know about Walter Matthau and Barbara Streisand. Walter couldn’t stand Barbara’s demands on the set, questioning direction, lighting, cinematography, everything. It reached the point where, the climax of the film where Horace was supposed to kiss Dolly, Walter faked the kiss!
While I do agree that RDJ was a dick for not having his back after Howard vouched for him to get the part, from what I read, Howard was difficult to work with. Not for RDJ but for everyone else, especially for Favreu. He would not want to do more takes for a scene and when he did, he would put little effort. I get going to RDJ for help in that case, but it ultimately lands on your performance and workmanship. They're all adults. Take responsibility for what you did wrong and improve in it.
*Little known fact. Blade was the franchise that help Marvel actually turn a profit after their many flops and facing bankruptcy. So you can thank Wesley next time you go see a good Marvel film.*
Ian M Do you know why Snipes was angry? What if i told you after 2 very successful Blade films, Snipes was offered less for the third then forced to have unnecessary costars in Reynolds and the other lady. Then on top of that insult the director made script changes giving Reynolds more screen time and making Snipes a supporting character in HIS OWN FRANCHISE.
4 year olds get into a fight, make up and are friends again 2 minutes later. 40 year olds get into a fight, hold grudges and don't speak to each other for 30+ years.
True except when i was in school and i did something they did not like i was considered a discrace to the human race and yes when 40 year olds get inti a fight they will never get over it
@@anarchistatheist1917 Appearing on a roast doesn't mean they've reconciled. George Takei appeared at William Shatner's roast and they still HATE each other.
Yet Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey were trying to one up each other in the film. Kinda odd to hear that Jones didn't like the idea of buffoonery when he was trying to outdo Carrey.
@@damiansaucedo9951 I never knew TLJ tried for the joker. That could have been interesting, he's definitly got the looks but as for his acting chops i dunno if coulda pulled that off. Hell he probably could have been great. Would have definitly been interesting. Thats for sure.
Honorable Mention in my opinion: 1. Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano/Jennie Garth 2. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey 3. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic 4. Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers
Jeremy Williams Good list. I remember 90210 was a nightmare with Shan. I believe Jennifer made peace with Patrick upon his death. Death has a way of doing that I know. My parents were separated until my father passed from cancer. They both made peace and it gave me some sort of closure.
I can hardly blame Tommy Lee Jones for finding Jim Carrey repulsive. Carrey has always tried to steal the scene from others, the biggest egomaniac ever on screen.
If you don't mind me going old school, Errol Flynn and Alan Hale Sr didn't get along that well either. And Warner Brothers was constantly pairing them after Robin Hood.
@@anarchistatheist1917 I kinda feel that way, too. Alan just always came across as being a more professional guy than Errol. I hear that was the root of the disagreement.
Blade kicked off the modern day Marvel movie franchise in 1998. Two years before X men came out in 2000. Purposefully sabotaged by the powers that brought that debacle "Blade Trinit", bringing in two very unnecessary sidekicks pushing Snipes to costar status in his own movie but contractually bound to it? I'd be pissed too! Both Snipes and Howard got shafted for obvious reasons!
Bale? What are you talking about? With the exception of that ONE single infamous freak-out, literally every actor who's ever worked with him says he is an absolute joy to be around and work with. In fact, when that freak-out of his happened, many actors who knew him publicly stated that they were very shocked and surprised to hear about Bale flipping out like that. And all fans who have ever met him or spoken to him say he is an extremely kind, friendly, funny, and down-to-earth dude. The only negative things I've ever heard about Bale are always about that one single freak-out. Outside of that, I've never heard anything negative about him. Chevy Chase, however..... LMAO.... Everybody hates him it seems.
I think it's funny how Terrance Howard neglects to mention that the reason he got a cut in salary for the 2nd film was due to the fact that he was paid incorrectly in the 1st. There was an odd ruling that made the 1st person casted as the star and Howard was casted before Downey. When Downey was casted, they had to rewrite his contract so Downey was paid the same as Howard...so they weren't taking money from Howard. When it is corrected for the sequel, Howard wanted top billing salary again... And wasn't getting it...
Also Robert most likely would have got that job anyway since he was an a lister( he only need expressed interestl)and was friends with the director though I admit I'm not sure if they knew each before Iron man.)
I always heard the actors who play Cersei Lannister and Bronn on Game of Thrones couldn’t stand eachother and have to be kept apart and never share a scene together. It’s been said there’s provisions in their contracts that stipulate they won’t be in a scene with eachother at all.
I feel sorry for Terrance, what happened was unfair and It probably seemed like he made the right decision at the time but if he had stuck around he’d be one of the top actors in Hollywood because of how successful the mcu has become.
Terrence would have eventually been replaced, because he wasn't good enough in the role. If it wasn't Don Cheadle it would have been someone else. Don delivered his lines much better, and had much better onscreen chemistry/banter with Robert Downey Jr. Terrence's delivery was flat, and he's not great when he needs to emote with facial expressions. It always feels clear that he's acting, and not becoming the character. When Don Cheadle is in uniform, he seems like a soldier. When he's in the armor, he seems like War Machine. And when he has dialogue with Tony Stark, he seems like his old friend. Terrence just seems like a guy in an outfit saying lines. If Terrence was still playing the character, he would feel like dead weight in every scene he was in.
