Your very well done videos, bring back an enormous amount of great memories for me. In 2009 / 2010, we took a little road trip also. We called it Four corners of America tour. We were traveling in our big class A motorhome. Starting in Seattle, to Portland Maine. Then to Florida for a couple launches at Kennedy Space center. Then to AZ for snowbird season. Then back up the coast to home. Trip was from July to June. My only regret is not having a good video camera. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing your travels. Nearest I got to Provincetown was Plymouth before turning westwards to Long Island and the Hamptons. Maybe next time 🤞
THANK YOU for showing the Pilgrims Museum for my ancestor also sailed on the Mayflower. Appreciate you showing reality in your videos and am 100% with you on your rant.
Ah, a little cranky, welcome to the east coast! 😛 You need to stop in Hannibal, MO to visit Mark Twains beginning. Wegman’s all over NY and everyone loves the horseradish mustard, gets some! Enjoyed your Route 6 adventure!
Man! Your videos are just too short! I could watch all day. So beautiful and informative. I love your choice of piano music. You did such a great job of matching the music and the feel of what's happening in the video. What a trip! I am so excited to see what George has for you! Stay safe! Love from SC, Jane ❤️ 🙏
We just found your videos a few days ago. Instantly fell in love. The Coast to Coast US 6 is what got my attention. I grew up in a town along 6 in Ohio. I share your interest in travel, photography, and genealogy. Came across your video yesterday about your family in Alabama. So touching. Now we have started watching the Alaska trip. Keep up the good work.
Another nice video. We camped on Cap Cod in 2018 and road our bikes on the Cap Cod Rail Trail. We drove a car up to Provincetown and found the roads and streets vey tight!!
Wow, what an adventure! Thank you for the ride and history lessons. My wife and I can relate with being close 24/7 while traveling together. But we wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for bringing us along and hope we bump into you again. Safe travels 🙏
How appropriate for you to do a Rick Mercer style rant right before you cross in to Atlantic Canada😂 Congratulations on the completion - loved following your travels along Hwy 6!
You were wise… to avoid P-town over the Holiday weekend. We didn’t over the Fourth and it was a totally different experience. We almost found a parking spot on the turnaround and none of the roads allowed RVs let alone had any parking spaces. And the town was crawling with people. We saw the funicular tram as we drove by and then back around to escape the Cape. We are now in Acadia NP. Looks like we will get to Canada about the time you leave. Safe travels!
We took the passenger ferry from Schoodic to Bar Harbor to avoid parking issues there. They did have one small parking area for RVs. Hope you have great weather.
@@FromShetoMe During our visit to Acadia we stayed in 4 campgrounds. Seawall NPS in the smallest campsite ever (you would have been challenged to fit), Bass Harbor private, Schoodic NPS (wish we could have lined up consecutive nights here), and Bar Harbor private. The free shuttle system worked out great for us and our dog to get around. They had stops at the campground and visitor center with RV parking with multiple routes around the island. Weather was great!
I think I know what your bird was at Shetucket, it was the Hooded Merganser and of course the male is much more attractive. Loved your entire trip via hwy 6. It's sometimes sad to see something end but then there are always so many new things ahead to explore. Enjoy!
So cool congratulations on finishing six! I am so jealous next summer family reunion Cape Cod we’re driving Shorty up there and the plan is check out family history in New Brunswick St. John’s and I want to go to the bay of Fundy too so you are forging the way for us! Safe travels. We have just returned from a month of travel out Weston back to the Midwest and I’m already itching to go again
It is surreal that you are meeting up with George and he is building you a new van. I've followed both of you from the beginning of your channels. Can't wait to see you both together.
Thank you for the tour of the Cape. I finished watching July 11,2022. I haven't been that far out on the Cape. Looks interesting and I'll have to go. My mom and sister and I went to Barnstable to see the antique car museum. It's actually in Sandwich.
Absolutely love yours and John’s adventures! While I realize my words are hollow at age 79, you are beautiful and you have an uncanny way of making even mundane things seem fantastic and great to watch! I learn a great deal of history watching! Thanks, and continue to drive safe.
Love the videos! Especially this one! Ancestors also immigrated with the Mayflower as well as into Virginia area. History, architecture, literature and art, nature and visiting these areas are priceless! 🌺♥️🌺♥️🥰
Definitely go to St Anthony’s but please continue to L’anse aux Meadows and tour that site and Norstead. Then have a healthy and delicious meal at an AMAZING restaurant called The Norseman. About a quarter mile away boondock at the very northern end of the road - a cul de sac with breathtaking views that the locals call The End of the World. I just left there and it’s worth it! Trust me!
Absolutely💚amazing video! History,sites,trails...even with rain...so unsual to see you walking among all that greenery ! Love the red hat. ...and Yes! I will pay for that camp site without blink. Safe❤️travel.
You didn't even mention the 'breathing the air' fee, the 'listening to the birds' tax, and the 'looking at stuff' surcharge!!!!!! The locals enjoy all of this for half price. 😁😁
Now, on the way home, take hwy "2" (Maine to Washington). What a trip we took on it last year. At 75 we pulled our 21 foot travel trailer it's length. Fun, interesting, trip
Thank you so much for documenting your travels. I love that you include your family history as I have been fallowing my family history as well. My famous namesake Penelope and Richard Stout arrived in New Amsterdam in the early 1600s and are founders of Middletown, New Jersey. I hope to visit there some day like you guys are.
I'm very much enjoying your adventure! Can't wait to see that area in person. If you are ever near Madison, WI we'll show you the wonders of Woodman's Grocery Store. You can't name a favorite until you've been to Woodman's 😉 Oh, and our driveway is available if you needed a place to stay. ...PeAcE
Thanks. John had an apartment in Wisconsin for several years and says Woodman’s is the only place he shopped but in my many visits I never went to Woodman’s.
@@FromShetoMe Well then, I'm preaching to the choir 🙃 If and when you are in WI, you must pop in and wander around one sometime. Most of the newer Woodman's are massive in size, and can be quite a workout 👍
Another great video. We loved the 40 second “rant”😊. When states charge more for out of staters we feel like they really don’t want the tourist money (lodging, food, fuel etc.). We do the same thing with our salad bowls, it just makes sense. We are relieved that you both made it without killing each other. Safe travels!
I have stopped watching to type this...you are going to love Fundy National Park!. The little town of Alma just below the Park is great but as you enter town from the Park you want to turn right, off the "main" road. There is an off the main track cafe back in there that sells the best lobster roll for way less money that the others. We did a cross Canada thing back in the olden times, pulled in there for a night and ended up staying for three!
Wow James Chilton is my 12th great grandfather on my mothers side as well. It is a small world. We might exchange notes at some point to see where the family tree splits off. The Churchills are in my family tree as well, on my fathers side of the family.
Congratulations, what a trip. And much more to come. Envy this leg. We saw some of the Maritimes a few years ago and loved every single bit. BTW, that last piece of music beginning with your intro of Linda and Dan was wonderful. Synesthesia? Subtle piano background for a while and then narration ends, you two on the boardwalk around the marsh, piano invites the rest of the orchestra to join the crescendo, they trail off, piano finishes. Replayed it three times. What a contrast, the 2:53 scene and the end of this video. Safe travels.
I’m so excited you’re going to Newfoundland! My husband and I lived there for 17 months in 1998/2000. I subscribed to your channel when I watched one episode that said something about Nova Scotia. I will be traveling with you back to Newfoundland as I watch your episodes. I love Atlantic Canada and the people. I’m so excited for you and to see the things you do. I’ve been to all those places you mentioned. Take advantage of all the delicious fresh seafood. In Newfoundland you can pick wild blueberries along the coastlines.
Welcome to Massachusetts! Been following you for a few years and happy you made it to my part of the country. Lots to see and do here. Enjoy your travels further north too.
Your combination of music and camera views is an art that you are perfecting to our pleasure..THANK YOU so much for sharing your journey. I marveled at the brick and stone work in MT's home, and the creative art in the stone work in the last town. Historically I appreciate the landing and museums you shared in crossing USA moreso than what is offered to tourist in DC.
Fundy is one of my favorite National Parks! Hike the Dickson Falls Trail. If you have time head up to Hopewell Rocks, but be one of the first vehicles in line when it opens and head straight to the stairs (if it's low tide).
I knew you had miles to go before you slept but I do miss you spending time and sharing hikes and cool spots in more detail at each location. Many of the times you visit the same spot we have gone to and it’s like a trip down memory lane. I’m not sure whether we want to camp in New England next. Everything seems so pricey compared to down south, out west and in the heartland. We’ve been there quite a few times but not with our camper so we may be following your tracks or maybe not. I sure do like your videos
Great video! You passed through Rhode Island, where I grew up. Nice memories came to me from your Provincetown visit. We vacationed in Nova Scotia a few years ago and visited the Bay of Fundi. Largest Tidal surge in the world. Make sure you get head netting to protect from the brutal midgee bugs on the beaches there!
When making my "kitchen-sink soup" Meijer is my go-to place for their produce section really good stuff there. I looked up the $51 campground- thanks for the heads up. What a fabulous trip well done.
A very BIG Thank you for sharing all your impressions ... I could not help laughing about the "discount" for out of staters in Massachusetts! What about extra pricing for "out of countriers" like me? I am so glad that I visited the East coast historic sites from Mass. to FL in 1981 when traffic was less and GPS was unknown and we used MAPS!!! - Have a great continuation of your trip.
Another beautiful video. I haven’t been to Provincetown since I was 18. I need to get back there. It was a pleasure to meet you and John at Summer Rally by the Sea. I think you are probably in Newfoundland at the moment. I discovered an interesting route in Quebec if you are looking for something to do on your return trip. Found a fabulous campground on the St. Lawrence river for 45 CAD water and electric. Also a boondocking spot at a national historic site for 25$. You are also welcome to stay on my property in southwestern Ontario.
Thanks. Yes, we’re still on the rock. We will be heading to Ontario to see friends at their cottage but if you would like to send me details for the campgrounds you recommended, feel free to email me. energymaven@gmail.com
It appears to me, that your nearly daily walks through the woods is what prevents any poor attitudes from taking up residence in your heads. You are certainly on a extended adventure this time out. Will this be your longest time away from home base with the van? Will you stay in the east until the "Humble Rumble" is completed? Will you participate in the crafting and assembly? Or just design aspects?
Ha! We don’t even have our chassis yet. Who knows what’s going on at Ford. Our Alaska trip was similar in length. We may stay out longer on this one if the fire season isn’t too bad.
FSTM, Hello DEBBIE &JOHN, WOW, very nice section, I had a very dear friend whom, was a school administrator in QUEENS NY, retired then moved to BASSRIVER,FALMOUTH MASS, I was there once for her sons wedding. . HERson callled me 3 weeks after she died, SHE had family on the MAYFLOWER, I saw a booklet, looking through, and asked, so she showered me a page , with folks from that voyage, including her connection, that publication only went to relatives from the ship. Nice you could meet-up with one og your viewer friends! How great is that? So you are almost done ROUTE 6 , then the EASTERN CANADA ,? Fantastic trip., what will you do with the SPRINTER, when your NEW VAN IS READY ?TRADE,SELL, ? Till next time, Stay well happy trails,,, God Bless ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I guess we’ll figure that out when we finally get a chassis. Right now Ford isn’t delivering much and not sharing details either. No complaints while we have this van to carry us on great adventures.
Last year we stopped at the Laws Railroad Museum outside Bishop, California and saw the sign for route 6. Didn’t know anything about it and thought it might make for an interesting road trip. It sure did!
There is an island off of Newfoundland that is French territory and not part of Canada. I believe you can take a ferry there without your van. So you can say that you have been to “France” on this trip!! It’s called Saint-Pierre and Miquelon.
Wow! Beautiful country. I'm a 72 year old guy and would never see that part of the northeast if not for your efforts. Thanks for the video. Did you ever get over that $51 place?
A number of reasons. Extensive network of dealers (we aren’t fans of Mercedes), no DEF to deal with, all wheel drive, we want to keep bikes inside but don’t want to go to 24 feet so 22’ should work, more head room for John (he is 6’5”).
Thanks, Deb, for this. Yes, many Ford dealerships in North America. Two "just curious" questions: 1) Will you take your van to Europe in future? Obviously, it would involve extra logistics getting the van there but it can be done. 2) What did you do for a living prior to your travels? My guess is an educator. Take care. Love your videos. They are very informative. P.S. Don't forget/miss out the drive around the Cabot Trail when you are in Cape Breton (on your way to or from Newfoundland). Cheers, Allan
@@Bluenose_II I doubt we would take a van to Europe. But do wish some of their RVs were available here. We got to Cape Breton this morning. Wish we had more time but have several engagements that require us to leave tomorrow. I’ve had lots of careers in my life; you’ll have to email me if you want more details. 😅
All our state parks are full on most weekends. I have been to other states that charge out of staters so much. Just charge everyone the same. Who cares where you are from. Camping in CT state forests are a bit better.
