Overnight wild camp on Dancing Ledge located at the Jurassic Coast.

Starting in Swanage Jon and I hiked the coastal path along part of the stunning Jurassic coast to Dancing ledge where we decided to spend the night, we had Bivi bags and military rations, and were blessed with great weather, a perfect day for wild camping at the coast.

That was lovely. There is something very soothing about camping by the sea with the stars over head. The ration packs look a bit disgusting hehehe. Great fun to. The flowers around you made it look dream like and surreal when you were lighting the flower. Was flowers were they. So beautiful. Well done again Dan, makes for a great evenings viewing. Much better that the rubbish on TV.. Regards Lindsey

Hello, you are correct of both counts, the location was stunning, I’m not sure what the flowers are, I’ll ask my mum, she will know.. and the ration packs were not great 😂😂 Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed it, it was a bit different to normal so I hoped that people would like the change of scenery. I certainly did! Have a good weekend Dan

I was down there around the same time, walked from Swanage in to Dancing Ledge then on to the Square and Compasses and back down the Priest's Way to Swanage. Was eyeing up camp sites along the coast..this is very helpful
@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 5 лет назад
The ledge itself was pretty good, in the morning we saw 2 other separate campers on the cliff tops as we walked back to Swanage. . Neither particularly hidden.. once it starts to get dark nobody is going to bother you 👍

Looked like a good time and I did enjoy the photo of Rob (piss taking at its finest). Love that coast as have kayak and camped many times from Swanage to Worbarrow Bay, a very committing paddle as very few safe landing places even on calm days. Enjoy the next trip and cheers.

yeah, we couldn't resist taking Rob along! made me smile all day that did! I've only kayaked in rivers, I want to take it on the sea but it seems a big step.. I'll try it later in the summer as we have a trip to Torbay planned at the end of August.. hopefully that is more sheltered for a starting point as I don't fancy being washed out to sea : )

Really enjoyed the styling editing fella, you have really good control over that drone. Like me you make the most of the active track options! I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but have you tried your pad inside the british army bivy? I find it locks my pad in and protects it from the ground and the elements! Atb Steve.

@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 5 лет назад
it was a lovely change from the woods, although I can't wait to get back in the woods now.. I don't know about carrying wood, we didn't need a fire as such, the little one we had was ample really.. and the dried cow dung burned a treat. so I don't think i'd want to carry the extra weight, it was a fair walk to get there from the car up and down the hills etc with a heavy pack.. if it was colder maybe I'd feel different. thank you for watching George : ) ATB Dan

We were down that way a few weeks ago. Durlston head to Kimmeridge. My bergan was 45lbs so I was hanging a bit by the time I got to Kimmeridge, Chapmans pool has some nasty steps up and down so my knee's were shot! We setup a tarp on one of the Bridleways overlooking the sea just past kimmeridge and yomped back the next day..29 miles in total and my feet were broken! I did ponder setting up the bivi on 'dancing ledge' but it was fairly busy down there so thought best not...
@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 5 лет назад
jeez mate, what did you have in your pack?! sounds heavy. respect for walking 29 miles, thats a walk and a half. the day we were at the ledge there was a father and son fishing but they cleared off near dark.. over than that it was pretty quiet.
@FrankieWildeDJ

@@CampLifeBushcraft the weight soon adds up if you are trying to be self sufficient especially over the purbecks as the weather can change pretty fast...We got our heads down at 9pm with a clear sky and by 1am it was lashing it down...My 3x3 DD tarp proved itself well...I was carrying a Snugpak sf1 sleeping bag, tarp, snugpak bivi bag. 2ltrs of water, most of a 24hr ration box, less a few needless items such as screech and cola mix, a Jetboil, warmers kit. Knife..I think the same brand as your's actually..As much as I hate to admit a Bear grylls with serrated edge..They have had terrible reviews but It was given to me so I am a bit sentimental...The firesteel is crap though!! I had hot spots on my feet after 5 miles which I was suprised by as I have been wearing these boots for 2 years everyday walking the dog..Must have been the extra weight and soft feet nowadays!
