We purchased a Coastal off-road rear DIY, weld together bumper. I ordered it with the optional swing out's.

Probably doesn't matter in the end result but at 2:40 the plate with the flange nuts welded on is supposed to go the other way

Thanks for manking this video man. I have been searching for reviews on this bumper for my 80 and havnt found much. It looks like a nice quality piece though.

Awesome. I'm currently in the middle of putting together the swing outs. I have the bumper finished and ready to go, just need to get the swing outs welded. I agree though, I was hoping for a little bit better labeling on the pieces.

Love the content man ! I just bought 3rd Gen high clearance front and rear bumper kits for my 99 runner (still in boxes) off Facebook marketplace. Everything was there except for the instruction manual print out lol I’ve tried to reach out to coastal off road a few times but they haven’t answered me… l Is there anyway you could help me out?

Sweet, my order shipped today. I ordered two bumpers one built off eBay and this one, not sure which I'm keeping and which I'm putting on my dad's cruiser yet. Also what roof rack is that?

I charged another guy $600 just to weld it together. no paint or grinding.

I got the 2 inch hitch receiver with mine. On the website it says it's not rated for towing. But then some people say it depends on who welds it. I had a good shop weld mine. You think I could tow a 16 ft boat with it?

Just because you have a 2 inch hitch, doesn't mean the vehicle is qualified to tow safely. Do you have a brake controller, what kind of shape are you brakes in, what is the towing capacity of the LC, how heavy is the trailer? Is the engine and cooling system up to the task? Who welded the receiver hitch and are they competent and qualified?

Get a 220V mig welder. Otherwise you won't have enough power to get it welded up!

I agree a 220 is the way to go, but a small mig will do fine. The duty cycle will suffer. Your gona have to go a little at a time

If you are gonna be really dragging the rear bumper is mig strong enough or should I pay the extra and get it tig welded? A friend of mine who is a pro welder only has a mig welder at his house, it would cost me about 3 times more to get it tig welded.

MIG welding, if done correctly is more than adequate.

what do you think the tow rating on that pintle hitch would be?

The rating on the pintle hitch is 10K lbs. Its tied into the land cruisers frame mounting point for a pintle hitch. But the tow rating for the LC is 5000 LBS. I would go with the lower number, minus the amount of weight you are carrying inside the vehicle. My trailer loaded is about 2000# but it has built in surge brakes.

i wouldnt. the vehicle is used as a jig for these kits. also every vehicle has slight variation. i just got one of these for my tundra

so, shit welds, No inside welds, skip welds, holes in your welds, clearance is WAY off and you think you are done? Please folks, if you dont know what you are doing, pay someone to do it or buy a pre made bumper.

You apparently have no idea what you are talking about. Hopefully you would know that is called Stitch welding. Weld the outside face fully and on the inside do stitch welds which is actually stronger. There are no holes, that is weld slag on top of the weld. Pretty normal. Just another keyboard warrior trying to talk crap, has no idea about welding processes. You laughable.
