@@JustDeano it's called the bus recovery grant and it's cost hundreds of millions in tax payer money to try and keep bus services afloat. I'm still not sure how I feel about it in the current climate, as bus routes aren't even always viable for many so it almost just feels like life support for a poorly managed transport system. You have to wonder 'what is this going to achieve?' it's not like when the scheme stops, people are going to say 'I enjoyed that rickety, unreliable bus experience so much that I'm happy to go back to paying £12 for a bus instead of £13 for an advance train ticket'.

@@JohnUnderwood-yz2xu all this so-called investment is just a waste of money in my opinion, as it doesn't logically achieve anything. People were already 'aware' that buses exist but they are still an objectively worse experience than trains, and anyone who only has buses as a viable transport option will have to continue to use them whether they're £2 or £8. I can't understand what this achieves other than making the government superficially look good. When things are back to normal come January 2025 the bus to work for me will go back to £6 ish for a single vs about 50p-£1 more for an advance rail ticket. A 1.5 hour cramped and uncomfortable bus journey where the bus is almost always late, vs a 20 minute journey on a service which is only sometimes late. it's a no brainer and just 'life support' as I said earlier. No doubt the bus services will lobby for them to continue to prop up their crappy services and vehicles for longer, because the other option is probably to bail them out when they go bust and risk not meeting public expectations in rural areas.

Mind you, it was all in my dreams since you were sitting on the wrong side of the bus hahahaha. Had you been on the other side of the bus leaving York, you would have seen Thompson's Fish & Chips and the Huckleberry's American Diner a few miles out of York.

He filmed Clifford Tower as he went past it but to be honest, as a York resident, I can tell you that it costs nothing to walk around it and there is bugger all inside, so if you hand over some coins you might be disappointed. So it is best to do as we do, don't spend any more money than is necessary.
