Great video. Thanks for sharing. Only suggestion would be to show the boost gauge in the center dash when you do the pulls. But awesome. I have an '18 Forester XT and have been considering the COBB stage 1. Keep the videos coming!
Always nice to see informative videos. I just got a 18 XT sucks we can only do minor stuff to the car since cvt can’t handle much over stock. I’m coming from a heavily modified wrx sucks but it’s a nice vehicle
You can do stuff. The CVT Will safely handle about 300hp and some extra torque. You need to get a good oil cooler. I race my FXT CVT and the thing is going strong at 150k+ miles
So one question I have if you don't mind It has that work with the sports, sports sharp and intelligent drive function? In other words there are probably already 3 separate Factory computer maps on the car. Does it back all 3 of them up so you can restore them if needed? When you install a new map from the cobb, Can you still use the buttons is buttons to switch modes? Does it have any effect?
Right on man I picked up the ‘18 Forester XT and have a nameless catback w/muffler deletes. Only other mods I’ve done really are lighting and visual things. This video was awesome man, very informative since we have practically the same car. Looking forward to getting the access port and a protune as well but I think I’m gonna pick up the nameless charge pipe and spring bypass valve first. Nameless also came out with their downpipe for the xt so that’ll be a fun addition in the future for sure.
Thanks for the info on Nameless releasing a downpipe! I was going to go with Invidia but I may have to reconsider now haha as for the bypass valve, what real benefit would you see out of a mod like that?
For THCJ and Joe, I did everything you've both mentioned above to my lifted '18 FXT, aem intake, mishimoto chargepipe, nameless bypass valve, and nameless axleback muffler delete. If you're concidering do anyting like this....install it all at once and get it protuned immediately. I didnt do that and waited a little bit before I got it protuned, was avg'ing 325 HP and blew out my cylinder 4. The minor damage caused to the engine was too much for it running correctly/more power after the tune. We wiped the ECU w/the AP and surprisingly they never found it on there. My dealership went back and forth with SOA and i got a new engine for a small deductible...not everyone gets as lucky. Just a heads up! FA20DIT is very sensitive
@@davehola8037 dang, might have to get the custom tune alot sooner than I thought. Currently have the AEM intake and waiting on my nameless axleback 5" muffler, BPV, and accessport to arrive in the mail. Do you think the issue was with the charge pipe? I was hesitant on doing the AEM intake without a custom tune, but after research I haven't found anyone that has had problems without a custom tune.
@@cellardwellergaming8388 it was the intake and the chargepipe, running heavy on O2. For real tho, I'd install it all one day and have the tune done that say or the next. Itll seem like its running fine without it but not. Had hp in the 320s, it scooted before it blew lol
Also does anyone know if using this Cobb system and resetting messes with your warranty for the vehicle? IHOP the hundred thousand mile warranty and wouldn't want to mess with that. Thanks
This is my biggest Hang up, I haven’t seen a single comment or heard from Cobb whether these systems void any warranty claims… maybe it’s a good sign that not many people have warranty claims? Haha
^ this guy misses his STi and Evo, but is now a dad, and considering one of these. You think the Forester 2.0XT is a good compromise? How did your pro-tune turn out?
It's an okay compromise out of the box but be prepared to be a little disappointed when you want to throw power at it. I'm getting my pro tune on July 14th and I'm going to do a very conservative tune. As for handling characteristics it's quite good. More news about that to come when I install a new set of wheels/tires and coils
I have a 2017 XT and mine has 259 flb of torque stock. Why are you saying yours is 215? Is there a difference to actual real-life foot pounds torque relative to how much they say it is?
you mentioned blow off valve? is that aftermarket? also do you also have a cold air intake on it? thinking of just getting all of them at the same time. thanks!!
Nice video, looks like you're in Westchester? I just picked up a 2018 XT can you recommend any Subaru dealers who aren't stringent about light mods when it comes to warranty?
Hey! Just wanted to say that your video was very good and informative! I have a '17 as well and I have done a few things to it, but I have been nervous about tuning the car because the warranty gets negated (according to Subaru of America) and the CVT worries me haha. With that said, once the warranty is up I will be doing a j-pipe, charge pipe, TCV and EGR deletes, and a protune.
Hello. Considering going stage 1 for my 14FXT but have been pondering on it because more power means less fuel economy. You said you’ve gotten better fuel economy since the tune…can you elaborate more on that like is there specific tunes for improved mpgs and then if I really want to go fast change to a more aggressive one? Also did you ge the intake as well during the time the video came out?
How has the economy been with the Cobb maps? You mention it is a bit better on the first day - did that hold up? I would have guessed that you'd get slightly lower MPG overall.
DAM stays at 1.0 unless I suddenly accelerate hard then it goes down to 0.750-0.875. Not sure about the feedback knock, don't pay as much attention to it
@@eg2jdm He's right he should have explained in the beginning what the Cobb system actually does. Not everyone knows what it is he doesn't have to give a full description just say what it's doing. But if you watch the whole video you can understand.
Stage 1 IMO is perfectly safe but it gets boring pretty fast. If you want the tiny bit if extra power with some mods, go for it. If you want more fun then stage 2 with a solid pro tune could be another option
The Human Car Jack yea i know we had this convo before but i our stage 0 on it and did the nameless deletes but to loud so went with the q300 sounds stock with a little rumble but stage 0 has all sorts of knock what’s your experience with the stage 1?
Interesting. After saying that, I am not so sure I want to go Stage 1. But that being said, I also have a 2017 WRX that is going to go Stage 2 soon, so I guess this can be my "boring" daily.
Lol don't get me wrong it did make it a more fun experience! I think supporting mods like tires and suspension need to be added to make it more worthwhile. The car is more fun in the straights after the tune but during cornering there is a lack of useable power. Next big mods will include a downpipe, boost controller, protune, trans cooler, coils and fatter tires to prep for track days!
