Cobb makes a map tuned for 91 in AZ (at least for my 04wrx). They compensate for the gas quality by running a little richer fueling and slightly less aggressive timing. Running it for almost 2 months now and quite pleased. Absolutely no knock on WOT pulls
Sarah ,first mapping i did was in 92 ,with a pc with no hard disc and msdos 3.3 lol , in one part here you say "and it pulls knock out " what you mean is it pulls timing out . this then reduces knock .also ,looking at your afr ,on cruise i tend to run much leaner ,in the 16 to 18 :1 range , for much better economy ....it may be dependant on your cat over heating whether you can run that lean.(i am beginning to think i am invisible , this is my 3rd comment on your vids insta etc. ;))happy to help with any tech stuff you wonder about , i am just mapping a megasquirt on a ,,my design and build,,1.4 8v gm motor, turbo ,propane ,10 psi/180 bhp .daily driver . regards robert.

Forester will make a full model change this autumn. I like SJG so I enjoyed watching this video. I am looking forward to the Forrester movie from now on.
A 3rd gear WOT pull is a 3rd gear pull in I, S or S# mode. exactly the same thing. However.. if your tuner gave you different settings for each mode, then you might have slightly different WOT results. I had my tune the same in all modes, mainly cause she (wifey) uses I-mode most of time.. (same throttle sensitivity and same psi)
I'm curious about your LED strips up front. They definitely grab your attention. I have a 16 FXT so I enjoy these videos. Detail videos have been informative also. Just makes me feel guilty about how dirty my car is.
Notice no one answered your question. I believe you are right about Knock detection. It's pretty critical for the knock to be controlled on a flat four. Imagine the potential damage. Love your videos!
Love the channel! I’ve got a 2012 WRX and have been running an e-tune for the last 45k miles. The stock Subaru tune was just terrible. I too had poor luck with the Cobb OTS tunes - lots to knock. My tuner has been great; as I’ve added mods, he tweaks the tune and I do a few pulls and he tweaks a bit more, etc.

Good step by step on this topic -- Thanks Sarah. Question back on the engine you swapped into the Audi. I recall you used a bunch of oven cleaner. That motor has a lot of aluminum -- did you notice any staining or pitting from using the oven cleaner? I picked up an aluminum intake manifold from the early 80s and planned on getting the baked-on crud off with oven cleaner only to see that the cleaner I got says not to use it on aluminum.
Ceramic glass is legit! At first I thought it was a camera trick or something- how is that rain gliding off the windshield? I will probably get all those glass products you listed. The data-logging looks tres interesting, although I will have to learn. Baby steps.

I like that deisel joke! That was very good. I had an STi with a Bren tune. I was not very impressed to be honest. The first tune felt great but had too much knock. The final tune had up to 22psi but did not really impress. I just found they have a tune for the Gold R! I should have kept the accessport. It makes power similar to APR but also has launch control and flat shifting. ...I digress... Back to truck jokes.
I just watch because its interesting I really can't use any of the information you provide in your video. And what's wrong with using wipers, be happy that you have intermittent wipers. I hate using them because in California it never rains and when it does its just a drizzle which means I can't leave my wipers on. I have to constantly turn on and off since there isn't enough water for them to glide on the glass so they start to scrape across it that's annoying.
I've had the Cobb v3 for a couple years now in my 06 WRX, Stage2oct93 base map. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since the AFR isn't a representation of a (Wide Band) it's not going to be exact. . ? What I was told by Cobb is it's really only going to show rich or lean, even thou the AP reads like a Wide Band o2 sensor.
if your engine is running rich I assume it would throw a code same for lean . Maybe a faulty cam timing sensor . Of course Sarah I could be talking crap .Have it scanned Daz

pretty much any feedback knock at -1.40 is just inevitable and phantom knock as far as I know. I ussually get it randomly here and there on my 2011 STI

I'm curious how big a (practical) difference the Cobb has made for you so far. Thinking about getting an FXT and playing with a tune for the first time. CVT makes me nervous, though.
Sarah. What did you tie the front bumper LED's into? I had mine connected to the side marker light and it messed up a control module on my Forester. : ( Sorry off video topic.

How did the window coatings do? I don't believe I heard you mention anything in regards to the performance of it/them...I assume the Cobb AP accounts for modifications or is it only relying on engine/exhaust performance parameters
K03sport the coatings worked great! I’m going to ceramic coat my back window tomorrow to cut down on dirt/dust build up too. It’s rained nonstop for the past 2 days and it still works just as good.
So the fuel in the United States is rated in (R+M)/2, whereas the fuel in New Zealand is rated in RON. So our 91 is equivalent to your 95. Your 98 would be approximately 94 (R+M)/2 in America.
Thanks for explaining the difference. We have methanol blend made from beer or dairy byproducts. As well E85 for your dirtbikes n motorsports . Australia has 87,88,89,90,91 just to simply things. Really 87 is so bad and is something you would put in a rental on return.

Wouldn't the safest bet be to get it mapped on a dyno? Saying that my sti was mapped on the road but im not happy with it will be getting mapped on the dyno when i get a downpipe on with a 3port boost solenoid. We don't really have cobb here in the uk ive never seen one of those access ports, however my car has a blitz boost controller and things are controlled through that rather than straight to the ecu and it boost spikes like shit so thats getting pulled out aswell soon lol

What are the g spot readings on the cob ? are you getting full stroke readings. is the intake temperature at max?
