Interesting unit, love how its all classic thru-hole. Generally if I am removing components and I don't have my MBT100 desoldering gun, I add some flux and fresh solder, then walk the legs out. Much easier thermal transfer when you have solder. Once legs are removed, then I go and clean out the solder. It's all about minimising the amount of heat time, as lifting pads sucks. Nice share 👍

I will have to check that out. I know there is a missing diode and by adding one you get seconds readout . I didnt opt for that. However I may change my mind, whats left of it. Hope to talk to you again this spring. 73s

Looking good Mr. Wagonmaster, I just did one on a customer's 2000 Freq counter/clock board recap tonight, Although i didn't have the D528 5.6V 1 watt zener diode or the C505 .47uF Tant cap, I did do the D505 1N4148 Diode trick to make the second's work on the clock, Now to finish the rest and hope there is a bad cap bogging the modulation down making it not modulate on am, ssb and PA. Hope to make it your way this summer and possible meet up at 99's house again. be safe over there on the West side of the Rockies

i cant play radio anymore today.... maybe some radio videos will do. was a big day over here, got an 11m rig on js8call.... no contats, but got the hardware installed and tested on 2om. just waiting for conditions now. my buddy, dan, is making an app to act like a packet bullin board.... a craigslist over cb radio, not the internet.

I would say tat wick would be safer to use and assure all solder is removed. I hear that working it out is dangerous.

I have been doing this a long time, used solder wick mostly back in the day and had decent luck. My Dad was Western Union tech, he repaired teletypes and other components that go with that whole system, one night he came into my room while I was working on a Stereo receiver. I was taking out some PS filter caps using wick, Dad left my room and came back with one of his solder suckers. He gave it to me and explained how to use it. After you get the hang of it your good to go..... Been using that same tool ever since. I think it is all about technique.
